During her NDE, Graça began traveling at an unthinkable speed. She saw the Earth and the Moon in the distance. She saw the Sun moving away. She saw colors that she cannot define because they don’t fit in the palette of Earthly colors. She felt a sentiment similar to one that we have when, after a long absence, we come back home. She felt as if she was ‘going back home’. She was at peace and felt happier than she had ever felt before. She returned with evidence that she really had left her body. Chas reads from the NDERF website.

Another person who had witnessed the whole thing from afar had already called the Police. Help was on the way, but it needed to be fast. He watched as the paramedics came and three men came out with a stretcher. ‘What does it matter?’ he thought. ‘I am already dead so this is absolutely useless.’ Chas reads from the NDERF website.

During her NDE, Rhonda J became aware of a voice that told her that it was not her time, that she had things to do which were not completed, but that she would have the choice of dying or returning to her life. Then together They began to look at the things left undone. Chas reads from the NDERF website.
During his NDE, Rusty J was in a black space on a black nothing; it was kind of like a path because it was lined with small lights close to ankle height that outlined a ‘path’. As he proceeded down this ‘path’ (not really walking but skipping from light to light), He would look into the small lights and see significant happenings in his life. Chas reads from the NDERF website
In 1973, at the age of twenty, Cynthi had been drinking in a tavern with friends. A good friend of hers had insisted on giving her a ride home, but for some reason, Cynthi made a life changing decision to take a ride home with an acquaintance. As they approached and then passed through the intersection where they were supposed to have turned, the engine revved and then screamed. Her next realization was being in a void – traveling through space – being pushed and pulled at the same time. She was traveling at such an enormous rate of speed that she could feel friction on her body. This wasn’t the body that she was used to. Chas reads from the NDERF.org website.
“DISCLAIMER from Chas: In this episode I said some things that make it sound like I’m lumping wiccans in with communists and/or child molesters. I AM SO SORRY THAT IT SOUNDED THIS WAY! And I’m sorry that I said what I did. But just as a matter of clarification, that wasn’t my intent at all. My intent there was to point to various ideologies and to point out that we can have vastly different beliefs and still love and respect one another. Had I planned what I was going to say out in advance, I would have first said something like, “Whether we follow the tradition of Catholic, protestant, Buddhist, wiccan, astrology, Greek mythology, free-masonry, or any other belief system, can we embrace the people of another belief system? No matter how we differ in our beliefs, can we still embrace the people who subscribe to a different faith?” Then I would have talked about political differences, and said, “Can we embrace people of those differences as well?” And then I would have said, “But even if we can accept all those differences, here’s the acid test: can we embrace those who have done harm to others? Can we love those who have abused? Can we love the child-molester? Of course, we CANNOT and SHOULD NOT accept their behaviors in those things, and should NEVER justify their actions, but having placed them in legal custody and made sure they are not in a position to hurt others, can we then embrace them as fellow spirits on this mortal journey who are worth our love?”
Pat P’s first NDE occurred in 1958 when, at the age of 7 she had an anaphylactic reaction to massive amounts of penicillin. Chas reads the NDEs and questions from listeners. Discussion includes the likelihood of the spirit leaving the body before a horrific death and how some experience a vibration in their body during STEs.
With regards to experiencing a vibration in the body during an STE, I suggest to Adam (who posed the question to Chas for this episode) and anyone else curious about this phenomenon to read Robert Monroe’s book “Journeys Out of the Body.”

Following complications from the delivery of her baby girl, Melinda was greeted by guardian angels as she arose from her body. A veil lifted and she was drawn into a long, dark tunnel that had a very bright, white light that was shining love. She could hear harps and saw deceased relatives. She felt total bliss and happiness. She knew she was home and never wanted to leave. But her NDE had just begun. Chas reads Melinda’s NDE from the NDERF website.
Wayne R was thrown from the car and landed facedown on the road. He came from his body and heard a voice in his right ear. It was the voice of his next-door neighbor (who was still alive at the time) saying, “Do not look at the light.”
Sandra R was involved in an accident and was in an emergency room when she felt herself float out of her body and felt as though she was walking along something like a balance beam. She felt as if moving one foot or the other would determine what would become of her—heaven or hell.
Doris was beaten by her ex-boyfriend UNTIL She fell unconscious. She now suffers from anxiety because she wants what she experienced while unconscious and beyond.

James’ NDE began after his exploratory surgery by waking up on a ledge no wider than one to two inches. His feet felt as if he was standing on the edge of a cliff. He felt a wall behind him, and flattened himself to it as best he could. He was in a void, completely black. But yet – it felt endless. He saw nothing, only black. Yet he could feel there was a down, there was an up, a ledge, and a wall. He did not know who he was, or how he had gotten there, all he could think of was ‘DON’T FALL.’
Della M had just been moved into her room after surgery. The nurse was checking her vital signs but could no longer get a pulse. Della’s soul left her body and was up against the ceiling in the southeast corner of the room. She saw a doctor fill a syringe with a very long needle that they were going to inject into my heart. And them…

In 1972, when he was seventeen years old, Wayne Morrison mixed some drugs he shouldn’t have. During his probable NDE, he observed the entire history of our planet. He learned that every thought, vibration and feeling resounded throughout creation and has results, though we couldn’t begin to fathom them. He was transported through millions of light years of space and shown many planets and places where life exists. Then, he met a being of the highest order. He narrates his event and Chas discusses the details.

While bike riding in 1984 Filiesha L had an accident that required reconstruction of her skull. When she floated out of her body under anesthesia, “truth” was communicated to her “like lightening and thunder.” “We are all a part of the same whole Family. We are as ONE, like a drop of water in the mighty ocean.” She then went into what can only be described as a “Huge Black Hole.” Chas narrates and discusses her NDE.
In 1995, Wan I was in High School in Malaysia. He began to blame himself for his parent’s bickering and had a nervous breakdown. Anita A periodically suffered bouts of depression but this time she was unable to work herself out of it. In an extreme emotional state she secluded herself in her apartment, stopped going to work, couldn’t eat or sleep. She just paced and paced with her thoughts racing. At some point she thought, I want to die and I said aloud,’Please, God, don’t let me die like this!’ Then it happened. Chas reads her NDE from the NDERF.org website.

Everything’s Gonna Be OK.
This is not an NDE episode. I’m not going to talk about STEs. I’m going to talk about our lives, our life experience. Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, Chas and I, like everyone else on the planet, are feeling the pain and anguish. It’s shocking to see the carnage, the mortality and the morbidity. No bodies’ life will be untouched by this disease before it is behind us. But behind us it will go. This too shall pass.
While the effects of this ongoing pandemic fill our thoughts daily, keep in your thoughts the understanding we have gained from learning about STEs. Let’s utilize what we have learned from the accounts we have heard. Many who have NDEs say that they were told they had to go back. That it’s not yet their time. Many report they were told they had not yet accomplished what they came here to accomplish, that they still have a mission.
Many even say we have chosen to temporarily leave our spiritual homes to incarnate here for a reason. If this is so, certainly, to be here in the Earth plane with each other during this time is a huge part of what we would have come here for. We know that while experiencing life on Earth is often difficult, and though rarely as difficult as it is right now, we know we face it as one. And because of what we have learned from STEs we are also very much aware that we are also all together as one in the larger plan of our Creator.
We don’t always understand that plan while we are go through things. But there will come a time when this will be placed in perspective. Do not allow one speck of fear to intimidate you as we go through this. It may even take your life but it can’t take your soul.
We are a community. A global community of people who see things from a very long-range perspective. While we work together during this difficult time, keep a positive attitude. Help others as best you can. Be grateful for those who are helping. We will pick up the pieces and we rebuild our world.
When we do, more than ever, we will rebuild it based in Love. Love that reflects the love so many NDErs speak of experiencing.
To rebuilt our world we start by rebuilding ourselves.
Let’s start it right now. It is all about attitude and gratitude. Let’s make sure our attitude is always, Love.
Namaste.

After having a near-death experience secondary to alcohol poisoning at age 13, then a kidnaping, rape and near murder at age 14, Coreen Zalot found the desire, the courage and the means to heal and transition from victim to victor.
By subsequently becoming a Nurse, certified health and wellness coach and yoga instructor, and by tirelessly keeping us informed on her Facebook page of research and medical breakthroughs about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and other matters that effect our health, she is pointing to a way we can break free from allowing anger, resentment and bitterness from personal traumas to control our actions and effect our lives. She shows how we can free ourselves from holding ourselves hostage. Her story and her life is an inspiration. And you hearing it is indeed part of why she was returned from the dead.

Dr. Ray Kadkhodaian contacted me after listening to item #263 (Donna’s NDE) and realizing that her story was very similar to what he experienced over 30 years ago at age 19. Despite not talking about his NDE for 30 years, he was compelled to reach out and tell his story with the hope that it would help others deal with their experiences similarly to how Donna’s story helped him deal with what he had buried deep inside for 30 years.
The listener must be warned that Dr. Kadkhodaian’s recount is extremely emotional, exacerbated by the fact that his wife’s young cousin had just tragically transitioned a day before the interview. Dr. Ray’s courage to share his story with us is profoundly admirable and deeply appreciated.

Dr. Cole’s NDE left him pondering what to make of it through the eyes of a physician whose scientific training did not account for such phenomena. His ability to contrast what he experienced during his NDE to what he experienced during his military training (hyperventilation and hypoxia) gives us further proof that NDEs are not the result on a hypoxic brain.

This is the conclusion to my discussion about LBLs with Linda Gabriel that has part 1 in item #264. If you haven’t already heard that part, you should begin there. And also comb through the extensive show notes and watch the videos I presented there to get the needed background to fully appreciate the LBL information.
I’m adding one more video in these show notes that really helps solidify the LBL phenomena from the perspective of Richard Martini. In it, Richard is speaking before an IANDS conference back in 2014 about his Flipside book.
Thank you very much for listening and supporting this podcast. And thank you for being open minded and open hearted while remaining skeptical.

Links to Linda’s books are listed in the store link in the menu.
Thank you for listening!
In this episode, I interview Linda Gabriel. Linda is a hypnotherapist who was personally trained by Michael Newton, Ph.D.
You can learn all about Linda and the gifts she has to offer, go to her website: https://lindagabriel.com/.
This is the first episode I will use to explore the phenomena of Life Between Lives or LBL. An LBL experience occurs when someone is placed under hypnosis and proceeds beyond a past life regression, through their transition from that past life into the spirit realm. This spirit realm is where many people feel that NDEs occur. But no matter how extensive an NDE is, it is more limited than an LBL experience because the people who experience an NDE are restricted in the amount of time they spend in the spirit ream before they return back to their incarnated life with us. So they get only a glimpse of what LBLers experience. LBL experiencers continue beyond that point into their time in the spirit life where they also can reunite with loved ones and have life reviews etc.. LBLers also experience reuniting with their soul group members, get their spirit force or energy renewed and many other fascinating things. It’s astounding.
Dr. Newton’s LBL research was conducted over a 30 year period on over 7,000 subjects. The breadth and depth of Dr. Newton’s work is truly flabbergasting. Be advised, to best grasp the scope of what goes on in the spirit realm in our LBLs, I strongly, VERY STRONGLY urge you to listen to the YouTube video via the link provided here in the show notes before you listen to this interview.
If this link fails to work for some reason, search on YouTube for the Michael Newton interview where he is standing in front of what appears to be a brick wall background.
This video is part of an interview of Dr. Newton. In it, Dr. Newton does a great job of giving a cursory overview of his LBL research. Note that Dr. Newton remained a skeptic of his own discovery of the ability to reach the spirit realm and our LBLs until his continuing research cemented his findings as objective, reproducible and self-evident.
After you have watched the Dr. Newton interview just mentioned and you have listened to this Linda Gabriel interview, you should definitely watch the documentary on Dr. Newton’s work entitled, “Flipside, My Journey into the Afterlife” which was produced by Richard Martini. There’s a link in the store page of this website.
Here as well, note that Mr. Martini was a huge skeptic as he filmed the documentary until he underwent a LBL hypnotherapy session. That session, along with subsequent experiences that Mr. Martini filmed and or had friends and associates take part in has brought forth even more tangible evidence that corroborates Dr. Newton’s work and shows that these LBL hypnotherapy sessions do indeed reveal exactly what they seem to reveal, the deepest exploration we have of the spirit realm and our lives between lives while we are there.
Here are links to the documentary about Michael Newton’s research by Richard Martini. It will amaze you. Rent or purchase on Amazon.com. Purchase the DVD on Amazon.com.
Finally, you will be absolutely blown away from reading or listening to Dr. Newton’s books because it is only there that you will get the complete picture of the afterlife, as best as I feel it can be explained so far as uncovered by Dr. Newton’s 30 years of research. Links to these books are on the store page of this website.
If you are interested in NDEs and life after transitioning, I think you will be absolutely amazed and definitely challenged by what you will learn from Dr. Newton’s research; I was and I still am.
If you are reading these notes after you have listened to my interview of Linda in this episode, you have some catching up to do! That is a lot of homework for you. Trust me, it will be worth your time and effort.
This interview with Linda is a very basic introduction to LBLs. Dr. Newton’s audio books provide about 20 hours of spirit life discoveries. If you are interested in the our spiritual selves, you really owe it to yourself to discover Dr. Newton’s LBL research through his books and the aforementioned videos to get a broader understanding of our souls and the spirit realm. Through his work, I have found strings of truth that tie together many of the otherwise seemly contradictory data we get from NDEs and other sources of information about the spirit realm.
We are at a point in our evolution where we are not only able to discover these data, but we are able to share it with the entire human race. This is a gift from our Creator. Cherish it and utilize it as such. And be especially accepting and understanding of those who are not yet ready for it.
As a final word of advice to those listening to this interview and to those who comb through the LBL research, it is a challenging and inspiring trip down the rabbit hole of our spiritual selves. Remain skeptical but open-minded. And fasten your seatbelts.

In this last episode of the show, we hear the remarkable shared-death experience of Kristen, one of our listeners, and discuss a listener comment.
Here is the painting Kristen did of what she saw during her shared-death experience:
For any who would like to remain in contact with me, you can contact me at [email protected], or by following the podcast’s Facebook group.
Thank you all so much! This has been a wonderful journey together. In fact, when it comes all our individual turns to go, let’s be at each others’ reunions on the other side. What do you think?
Thank you for being here. Thank you for your support, and thank you all especially for listening!
“Even though I felt peace, comfort, and complete love behind me and around me, I didn’t want to go. Then, the next thing I saw was the room become bright and the light behind me was even brighter. I remember turning around crying and I asked, one more time, please, Lord not now.”
“On the night in question, I went to bed, it being like any other ordinary night. I remember ‘waking up’ as it were; only to find myself in complete darkness which I call the Void.”
“I was in a large theater, with a stage and velvet curtains on both sides. No one else was there. I was sitting in the middle of the row. I didn’t know how I got there or why. I waited, and then one of my earliest childhood friends came out onto the stage.”
“I could see what was behind me and could see what is before me. A clarity that set me on my path. The truth was inside me.”
As a professor of neuroscience, and an author of several books, including Unseen Forces: The Integration of Science, Reality, and You, Bob Davis is immensely interested in the topics of near-death experiences and consciousness. In this interview, we discuss these topics, along with the Bob’s research and thoughts on these subjects. Bob’s website is https://bobdavisspeaks.com.
“Then the light came. I was thrown straight into the middle of the Sun. Straight into the middle of the warmest, most beautiful, most welcoming light…”
“Uncle Dee Dee seemed to have stepped forward and approached me as though to shake my hand. While I gestured to shake his hand, I heard his voice as to say words to the effect of, ‘Well done.'”
“I just sat on the bottom and my short life started going before my eyes.”
“I immediately walked over to him and asked, “Are You the Being, called JESUS”
And with a warm soft, sense of Love and Laughter, he replied back, ‘I am called by many names, however because of your background you can call me BIG BROTHER, and I will call you, My Little Prince of Peace’…”
“I saw a very strong white light not like on earth, it is impossible to explain the intensity of that light.”
“…spirit projects me into the future, fifteen or twenty years further, and shows me what the life of those around me is, due to me, yet without me.”
“Floating, I went in the direction of the light that I felt I had to go to.”
Sorry about the intro on this one. I seem to have lost it in transition… no pun intended
“I felt pain in the form of a thousand fists punching me all over my body, but I didn’t care. I was focusing on the warm sensation now creeping from my body down through my legs and arms, and up to my neck, like sun on skin, but it radiated from the inside. A dark, black ring was now slowly restricting my sight. It was getting wider and wider, working it’s away into the middle of my view.”
“…all of a sudden a calmness as a voice spoke gently to me like warm honey being poured over me very warm and comforting like I had never felt since then came over me.”
“Then I felt as light as air and floating up to the top of the room and then it went black again.”
“Phebe was certain she was dying. Wilford blessed her and tried everything to relieve her suffering, but the fever grew worse. Finally she called Wilford to her side, testified of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and urged him to have faith amid his trials. The next day, her breathing stopped altogether, and she felt her spirit leave her.”
“I remember the physical sensation of shrinking, and talking to myself. I thought it was like being in a funnel and I was going down, by the time I was in the very tip of the funnel I was quite small. I even said, ‘ I am the size of a pea now.”
“Then, in that light and sweetness, I was one with the other souls in total harmony.”
“During the time I was ‘out’, I had the most joyful experience of my life. The joy and ecstasy I felt was beyond description.”
“It was peaceful and I loved it. I wanted to stay. I had an overview of my life, who I should be with and who I shouldn’t, what life was and a taste of it I guess is a way to put it. I only remember a feeling of it now but at the time, I know it was beautiful.”
“I could feel myself moving, but I knew it wasn’t on the table any longer. There were thousands of colors in front of me. It looked like I was watching the Aurora Borealis.”
“Then I felt attracted by a light glow. But the more I went forward, the more I saw a kind of arc of circle surrounding me like arms protecting me.”
“Then I noticed that surrounding the doctors were more people. They were extraordinarily tall. They were wearing white, and they were very ‘shiny’; they emanated light.”
Also, from a listener comment/question, here are a couple commentaries that she might find useful. Thanks so much for contacting me!
Here’s one that a friend, Charlie Forbes, is involved in, that I really like:
Here’s another one you might like:
Lisa had a profound shared-death experience that I
found both remarkable and fascinating. Today she shares her experience with us. Lisa has her own podcast at https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/millionaire-medium/id1281099732?mt=2&ls=1
And Lisa’s website is https://www.millionairemedium.com/
“I could see my body lying on the floor head down and still holding the wire. I rose to about ten feet off the ground and I stopped hovering near the roof tiles. I was calling for help but no one was there.”
“I experienced a feeling of traveling quickly down a long tunnel – this was somewhat disorienting/dizzying – the only thing I can think of to describe the feeling of this is the effect of watching a spinning red and white pinwheel and feeling as if I was spiraling along a tunnel (this may sound silly, but it was like the effect employed by old television programs to indicate traveling back in time).”
“All I know is that suddenly I was in a very long, dark tunnel moving very rapidly toward a very large, bright light that radiated love. I could hear beautiful, high-pitched wind chimes, and I could hear angels singing; legions of angels.”
“I know what it feels like to faint, before and after. When one faints, nothing happens before and after. This was different. I was out of body, but I was not afraid.”
“With a flash of the most intense white light, I found myself standing before the Source.”
“After that, I remember I saw the most beautiful garden I have ever seen, I saw my cousin who died five months ago in an abortion operation…”
“And I laughed, ‘THIS IS IT? THIS is what everyone is so afraid of???’ I laughed the same as I hear myself laugh now inside this thing once again. I was still ME, just not in this.”
“I remember being taken to the hospital and wondering why. At the time, it seemed like I was sleeping because I was on top of the ceiling looking down at myself. Mind you, I was only three years old and all this was really cool.”
“God asked me, ‘How did you serve your fellow man?’ I told him that I did not know. Just then, my soul filled with my entire past, and almost instantly, it was over.”
“If you are allowed to return you must put your vow first above all else. Do this and all that you need and even desire will be added to you.”
“What I experienced was that I was a tiny object of myself traveling with very high speed in dark space with a light”
“Then he said something to me like ‘Well, you won’t get too many chances to recover from something like this again. You must be much more careful in the future or you won’t be able to do what you have to do and that won’t be good.’”
“They told me, you are where you wished, we waited for you. It was gorgeously good.”
“I had a flashback of all my past life. One would have said slides bombarded at full speed without interruption.”
“I traveled through space at great speed, once I had lost the fear of going with it. I saw a light and I went into it. It was wondrous light that engulfed everything; there was total knowledge and love.”
“I died for about three or four minutes eleven years ago and entered this other dimension that I took as being Heaven, certainly an afterlife. It was really beautiful, with gardens and fountains and small, countryside hills. The people appeared in Greek or Roman dress, very comfortable with white robes and sandal type shoes.”
After sharing Kay’s experience, we share some listener comments and questions relating to religion and the near-death experience. And we discuss the power of using the edge effect to get the most out of both NDEs and religion.
Mentioned in this episode were these past episodes:
“Eventually the tunnel let out onto a platform with a marble floor. There were various people milling about in grey hooded robes. One of them came up to me and introduced himself as my guided. The architecture of the place I was very Greek in style with columns and such. I don’t believe it was heaven or hell.”
“I had the feeling that I was asked very gently to make a choice between living or not living.”
“Sometime during my unconscious phase, I found myself thrown near the edge of a swirling mass of beings. All the beings around me were very black and the atmosphere was one of depression and resignation. I was being pushed along very fast by the swirling mass of beings, some looking like walking skeletons. I had the feeling that, as we were moving round, we also were moving towards the outer edge of the swirling mass where these beings simply fell off the edge into nothingness or death.”
“The voice said again much more clearly, ‘Go back, it’s not your time.’
“I then thought, ‘No, I’m going to see my mother and I don’t want to go back.’
“I preceded up to my front door and as I was about to open it the voice changed into my mother’s voice and said even louder, ‘Go back, it’s not your time.’
“I then said, ‘I don’t want to go to school; I want to stay here with you.’ I tried to open the door.
“Then the voice said in a stern voice, ‘Go back to school now!'”
From Nellie’s Experience: “I was at the light and then I was stopped at a barrier. I looked at the light and I experienced an overwhelming flood of peace, joy, and unconditional love. I knew that God was behind that light, and there with Him was everything we could imagine – beautiful, good, just, merciful, and righteous, in a far greater measure than the human mind can conceive.”
From Dot’s Experience: “A higher power is showing us a mission to do. We are looking in the table. It’s Earth in there. The higher power shows us two ways to accomplish our mission: one of which he prefers us to do, the other one he isn’t crazy about, but it seems that the main thing he is interested in is whether we will we do it the way he asks, yes or no. We have free choice.”
“I then entered some other dimension and was greeted by people who I feel were my relatives or at least were absolutely overjoyed to see me and greeted me with overwhelming love.”
From Rhonda’s experience: “I came away feeling that must be total contentment. Jesus sat down under a very large tree and they all knelt down in front of Him.”
From Stefan’s experience: “I had total consciousness, I knew the answers to everything, why it was the way it was, and why it has to be the way it did in some cases.
“I know I was thinking about the riddle of cancer, and suddenly I knew how to cure this disease with very simple means. I know I was thinking it seemed funny that nobody had thought of this cure before, which was as self-evident as it actually was. I knew everything about the universe, how it was once created and why it all worked the way it did.”
After an overdose of opioid medication, Joe found himself falling to the bed, unconscious. His experience, which for a long time he assumed to be a dream, clearly fits the description of a near-death experience. As a listener to the podcast, Joe shares a recording of his own voice sharing his experience.
We also share the questions of a listener about finding an NDE searchable database, and several questions about the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints to which I belong. Briefly mentioned in the last question was Chas Hathaway’s book, The Second Coming and the Second Commandment, which is available on Amazon.com as a paperback or as a Kindle book. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Today we have the great blessing of interviewing Chris Batts’ about his remarkable near-death experience following his suicide.
In addition to speaking about his near-death experiences, Chris now works to inspire others, teaching suicide prevention, and encouraging people with his Youtube Channel. His book is soon to be released, and anyone interested in learning more from Chris, or want to ask questions about his experience, can reach him through his Youtube channel or his Facebook account.
“I was swooshed into a place with 4 robed beings. No wings. There was Ethereal, beautiful, whiteness everywhere. They spoke without speaking. Like a chorus…”
“The trooper about turned white and said, ‘That was no dream you had, what you described is exactly what happened.”’
In today’s episode, we share some comments and experiences shared by listeners. Included is the question of how much commentary you would like with the podcast. Is it fine like it is, or is it too much?
“I describe myself as flying fast through a sequence of sceneries that seemed unlimited, peripheral vision, I’m observing the journey…
“I am the journey.”
“I popped out through the top of my head, through the wall of the house (the bed was set against the wall), stood up and spoke to a white cloud-like, human-shaped figure outlined in blue (I’ve now come to understand that that was one of my guardian angels).”
“What I distinctly remember to this very day, is firstly a flashing of beautiful scenes, fields, oceans, dolphins, horses, and everything racing. Then suddenly I left the earth as such entering into a tunnel spiraling upward…”
“I saw a bright light through a tunnel, I went to the light; as I was going to the light I saw tiny lights all around me. I remember feeling at peace and the feeling of floating…”
“I did not see God (or Jesus either for that matter), but it seemed like God was looking over my left shoulder. God said, ‘Go back'”
“It was at this point that I was having out of body experiences. I felt as if my body was on autopilot and I was floating above it and totally aware of what was happening but not being at all concerned about it! I felt very calm and peaceful and as if nothing mattered any more, in fact quite euphoric!”
In this anonymous near-death experience from IANDS.org, the experiencer describes communicating with a musical note. She says, “Then I heard a musical note. I knew it was telling me to go back.”
Devon Loomis is a relationship coach with a Youtube channel where he shares his relationship advice. Today we play for you his remarkable account of his brief but profound near-death experience.
In answer to a listener question today about what happens in the afterlife to those who have done very regrettable things, we share the experience of Ana, who dies while giving birth to twins, and finds herself on the other side.
Today we discuss the topic of out-of-body experiences, and after sharing a listener experience on the subject, share the account of Pepe, who has met several people in his daily life that have had OBEs.
“‘How is that girl in the next room? Is she okay?’
“When I said that, a nurse who was nearby who was carrying a tray of syringes and other objects dropped it on the floor. She then went and got the specialist who had been looking after me and they started to whisper. I could hear what they were saying, the nurse kept repeating ‘how does she know that?'”
“The next thing I knew was that I was rising up from my body toward the ceiling. I knew my body and other people were below me, but I kept looking up. I stopped near the ceiling light; it was next to my face, very bright. Next thing I knew I was outside over a river…”
“I found myself still in my seat but outside the airplane to the left in a very large room brightly lit with curtains draped all around the walls from floor to ceiling the seat appeared to be on a raised part of the floor with two steps down. Across the room to my left, some steps led up behind the curtains, which I presumed was out of the room. All the light came from this point and was much brighter from behind the curtained ‘entrance’.”
“I had a feeling that everything was okay even if it was beyond what I could understand. I did feel a gentle breeze moving me upwards. I had the feeling that everything was alright. I felt really good, benevolent, full of love and compassion.”
“I was given total and absolute knowledge about ALL things instantaneously!”
“Then the room started to fade away and this light took the shape of a tunnel that surrounded me; at this time I was being pulled at a high rate of speed and there was somebody with me, I felt safe and loved and at peace.”
I want to offer special thanks to Troy, a listener to the podcast for bringing this story to my attention. Oliver’s NDE is incredibly insightful, and offers an incredible perspective on how God can both love us, and seek to correct us when we’re off track. Shared in his own words.
We also had another listener comment by Stephen T. McClard, who’s insights we discussed in a previous episode. Stephen links to his page, https://bhaktisattva.blogspot.com/2018/07/the-essence-of-enlightenment-and.html.
Thanks, Stephen and Troy for your comments and thoughts!
Recently we shared the experience of one of our listeners, who nearly lost her four-year-old son, and her shared-death experience at that time. Now we get to hear the rest of the story—her son’s account. And though they didn’t tell each other of their individual experiences until the son (Jake) was in his twenties, when they did, they realized how profound the whole ordeal really was.
Today we share the NDE of David Bennett, Author of Voyage of Purpose: Spiritual Wisdom from Near-Death back to Life which is available on Amazon.com as a paperback or as a Kindle book. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
“I was zooming down the center of a huge tunnel-that seemed to be lit from inside the walls of it. I could tell I was actually moving because the tunnel walls had a spiral effect to them. I remember thinking how beautiful it was and was amazed how I could be suspended in air flying so fast down the center of this huge thing.”
“Suddenly, all I saw was light. Not bright light, but soft, comforting light. I don’t know how to explain it, like I said, it is too big for words; there was a peace coming over me. Rest, peace in its greatest form. No worries, no problems, no bad feelings, no black thoughts. Only peace. Bigger than when you’re in love, greater than when you hold your child for the first time, more beautiful than anyone can imagine. Only peace, rest, and happiness.”
Jeffrey had a particularly distressing near-death experience, where he encountered strange places, creatures, and suffering. Probably not the best episode to share with children, but one that may shed some light on the suffering we experience in this life.
“We were drinking pop, eating pizza and watching the Superman movie with Christopher Reeves where he loses his powers (Superman II or III?) I’d never seen it before. At one point in the movie, Superman is in a restaurant and he turns his back to a man who attacks him from behind. I think the man either punched or kicked him in the back and he experienced amazing pain, and maybe became paralyzed, I don’t recall now, but at any rate, the cruelty of the act, along with the sheer pain he felt, struck me like I’d been hit.
“It was odd, because I’d never felt a particular affinity for Superman (and it was just a movie). Why should I over-identify with his pain? And yet I did, so here’s what happened when I took on Superman’s pain…”
“My feeling now is that my NDE happened before my husband came and if he had not come, I might not be here today.”
“He tilted he head towards me and said ‘This isn’t want you wanted, it is?’
“I was starting to cry and replied, ‘No, it was stupid and I was only trying to get attention.’
“Then he said to me, ‘Do you see the light?’
“I looked around and far off into the distance was this light, like looking through a prism with rainbow colors generating from it. But it was very far away and very little to see, but it was there.
“That’s when he said to me, ‘Suicides are not allowed to receive the light; they remain in darkness.'”
After sharing Kathy’s experience, we read a comment by Stephen, a listener, who shares some fascinating insights he’s gained through meditation experiences. The links he shares are:

“He asked me if I wanted to return to that body again and it took me a while to decide. He told me I would have to come up with three reasons why I should be allowed to return.”
Linda died from internal bleeding. And being an atheist, and having lived, in her words, an “extremely arrogant, vain, conceited and very materialistic” life, perhaps her surprise at continuing to exist after death was only overshadowed by where she found herself.
“The more that I looked at him, the more that I saw how long I knew him. I actually remembered knowing him even before this universe was created. I could actually see this. I looked and looked and I couldn’t see any time that I didn’t know him. I could see long before any of this stuff came into creation.”
“Suddenly, from within this being, a huge tunnel had opened up and it was beautiful beyond words. I cannot tell you what I felt. The feeling of love, and peace that I had achieved while I was passing through this was amazing! I felt myself engulfed in the passion of love that seemed to flow from every corner of this tunnel and from this being!”
Nan died in a suicide attempt. But while being accompanied toward the light, her angelic guides kept repeating, “It’s not time! This is not the right time, oh no…”
“Before I was awakened from the surgery, I was aware of being enveloped in a bright glow that had no glare—it was simply perfect.”
In this special Christmas episode, we hear the experience of Roxanne, who in her near-death experience got the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ.
The music at the end of this episode is Love One Another.
It was Christmastime when Paul found himself driving into what looked to be a head-on collision. Says he, “As I realized I was about to be killed, a sensation as of a swirling vortex began that enveloped my whole body, which then concentrated in my head and I exited my body through the top of my head. I literally flew out of the top of my head. I found myself traveling in an upwards direction…”
The music at the end of this episode is You Gave You, written and sung by Chas Hathaway
“Behind me… were lots of people in a beautiful garden park—maybe 60 people, and they were all excited to see me, and I was so excited to see them, almost jumping up and down type of excitement. I knew I was in my real home…”
After sharing Robert’s riveting near-death experience, in which he saw many lifetimes, we talk about the concept of reincarnation, and offer some alternative explanations for what people are experiencing when they seem to see their own past lives.
Cheryl Duran emailed the podcast with her beautiful near-death experience, and we’re so glad she did, because not only does her experiences provide some incredible insights into death and the spirit realm, but it also spawned a discussion on coming up with words to describe the ineffable.
As a young girl, Mari had a tonsil operation, which went fine, but upon being given an injection of sulphur, Mari was in trouble. Her body’s reaction put her body unconscious, but sent her spirit somewhere much, much more enjoyable…
Cristine was working in her garden when she suddenly found herself in another realm, where, among other things, she experienced the creation of everything, and a garden like nothing she’d ever seen before.
Two exciting announcements! My book is out, AND we’ve struck a partnership with NDERF (the Near-Death Experience Research Foundation).
This is not an episode—just an update so that any who would like to buy the book for a Christmas gift are able to in time for Christmas. (Just make sure to check the shipping method to be sure it’s one that will get it to you in time.)
Jeff was accidentally buried alive—which killed him, of course. But before he was rescued and returned, he visited heaven and during that visit, as he put it, “I immediately hit the floor face down saying ‘I am not worthy to be here. I should not be here’ over and over again.
“I was before the Holy Trinity.”
It was just an “innocent” game: breath deep a few times and then have someone squeeze your chest to make you pass out. But when Randy’s spirit left his body… well… I don’t want to spoil it for you.
Then we share some listener comments. And here’s the TED Talk referenced in this episode.
Donna’s NDE is an interesting demonstration of the after effects of the near-death experience. Have you, or anyone you known, experienced these after effects without having had an NDE? If so, has there been an incident in your life where it’s possible that you had an NDE but it was masked from your memory?
Anthony had a near-death experience, but unlike many NDErs, Anthony was able to keep track of time—at least as he experienced it in the spirit world. And how long was he there? Two-thousand, five hundred years. And how long was his body dead? Eight minutes.
Music from this episode:
Nancy had a near-death experience, and says, “I went out of my body and was floating up over us. I had an urge to pass right through the second story wall to the outside and did. I hovered over the Pacific Coast Highway and watched cars passing by below. I felt extremely peaceful. After a little while I had a pleasurable urge to just shoot through space and sort of streamlined my form (although I never looked at my spirit body) and rocketed out into the cool, dark space.”
“A voice said to me, ‘The love you give and the love you receive are yours for all eternity; you only answer for your incompletions – all the things not said or done.’ What I had seen made sense; I saw all my incompletions. Why hadn’t someone told me? I could have done it differently.”
“At this moment, I heard a voice behind me and turned. There, standing… were two friends of mine who had been killed in a car wreck in 1983. They had been together when they were killed (as was fitting since they were always inseparable) and the three of us were closer than brother and sister. I went to both funerals and swore to myself that I would really like to have those two gals come to collect me (if that was how it was done) when I died. Well, here they were.”
“Then in a distance, I saw a figure coming towards me. He stood upright like a man, yet had some sort of electrical energy around him… I knew that he was God.”
Music from this episode included:
Today we share three experiences—those of Kandy and Sheila, and also the fascinating experience of Diane, one of our listeners.
And just to reassure everyone, while there will be a few more episodes with background music (they were already recorded and scheduled before I got the first feedback about the music), I will NOT be recording any more episodes with background music. Thank you SO MUCH to all of you who contacted me with feedback. So far, the vote has been unanimous, and I’m happy to have the extra time back that it took to add the music. So don’t worry. After about a week of music background, everything goes back to normal!
The background music is still in its experimental stage, so let me know if it’s distracting, annoying, or too loud. It’s more work putting it in, so if it doesn’t matter either way to listeners, I’ll probably not keep doing it. Basically, let me know if you like having the musical background.
The background music from this episode is:
“While in His presence, I felt that the knowledge of the universe was all mine. All, questions were answered and made complete sense. We communicated freely, not with words, but clearly and more concise than any conversation I have ever had. I had no worries of this world.”
Music from this episode (by Chas Hathaway):
From a listener comment, we have today’s discussion on some of the lesser-discussed aspects found in near-death experience research, including Thomas’ past-life regression experience. Thomas had several experiences, and I want to personally thank him for sharing them with us. We also kick off the podcast with a short NDE by Sandy from NDERF.org
Today we get the awesome opportunity to share the experience of one of our listeners, Jim Bruton, who had a remarkable and unique near-death experience that is quite different than many of the traditional NDEs.
Jim’s website is http://www.inbetweenproductions.com, where you’ll find the imagery Jim refers to in his experience.
Five-year-old Mark was being tended by his grandfather, who stepped out of the room for only a few minutes, when Mark discovered a bottle of “Smarties” on his Grandfather’s desk. Unable to resist the heart medication that looked so much like candy, Mark downed the bottle. By the time he discovered that they tasted nothing like candy, it was too late. Mark died.
But prior to his return, Mark visited the other side and describes what he experienced there.
“When I exited the other end of the tunnel, I was standing in a grassy field that had low gently rolling hills. There were a few large oak trees and flowering bushes. I realized I was standing on a narrow sandy path and started walking along it.”
“I later accounted to my husband what had happened to me and asked him to tell me his side of the story. I told him at times I was not in my body. He believed that had he not been there calling my name they would have lost me.”
From two listeners we get two FANTASTIC questions today: One about apocalyptic futures seen in people’s near-death experiences, and one about whether we get to be with our pets again in the afterlife. Thanks to Wendy and Delon for today’s topics!
Referenced in this podcast is Erika McKenzie’s NDE.
“As I was getting ready to ask him another question, I looked up and saw my nephew floating above the others. He was not on the right or left – he was just floating around. I asked him, ‘Richard what are you doing up there?’
“He answered, ‘It was not my time. I have to stay here until it is my time.’
“My nephew Richard committed suicide in September, 1989. I felt the hurt in my heart to know he was not able to be at peace.”
In this interview with author Nancy Rynes, we talk about her incredible near-death experience, some of the insights she gained from it, and the lessons she learned from her time in the spirit world. Nancy’s website is NancyRynes.com, and her book can be bought there, or at amazon.com.
“I am a comical person by nature so everyone was laughing, and (they) said I kept them all laughing up there [in heaven]! Anyway, I asked jokingly, ‘What’s in it for me? Will I be in awful pain?’
“He said, ‘Pain, yes. But you’ll have help with it.'”
“I could feel my spirit come out of my body and I saw my body lying there as if asleep. I was carried as if my angels, though I did not see them, far up into the heavens and at a great speed. I was taken to a place surrounded by music. It was like no music I have ever heard. More beautiful than all the best music my ears have heard and it came from everywhere.”
Earl was in a car accident, and John had a life-threatening asthma attack. Both died, and though their stories differ, both offer the joyful, beautiful news of the afterlife.
Today we share the experience of an accountant and a man named Paul. Both see remarkable things and return to tell the story.
“I felt like I was in a tunnel, and at the top was a light. I felt like I was flying through the tunnel at incredible speed but as I was going through I could sense all the things I had done through my life and all the people I had known and loved…”
“I immediately rose to my feet, and looked at the nurse who had helped me up. She wasn’t a nurse. She was clothed in light, extraordinarily beautiful, and loving. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, and I almost cry when I think about it.”
We also share a sample from Kim Rives’ experience that is fascinating for a number of reasons.
“At some point, a being came along and took me on a tour of the universe. I had instilled in me, creation and how the galaxies were created. I got to visit places that were advanced beyond comprehension, and yet see places that are just starting out!”
I opened my eyes and standing at the end of my bed was the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen. He reached out His hand toward me and smiled and said, “Do you want to come with me now or do you want to stay?”
“After a few moments, I blacked out. The next thing I knew I was watching a kind of movie of my life. Not a whole life story as some people experience but only some great and happy childhood memories. I don’t know how long this lasted but after this I was in a tunnel and out of body. I realized that my body was behind me but I was afraid to turn around and look. But then, being of a nature that is very analytical, I began taking an interest in the tunnel itself…”
Diane Goble drowned while rafting with her husband and friends. “The next thing I knew,” she says, “I was a hundred feet above the river, looking down at the raft stuck against the rocks below…”
Diane’s book, Beyond the Veil, recounts more details about her experience. There are also several video interviews with Diane on Youtube:
“I was not seeing anything. I was petrified, and remember saying, ‘Please God, don’t let me be alone, where are you?’”
“The next thing that I saw was the most brilliant, intense light that I have ever seen.”
“There were four judges on four separate, tall benches—they were in grey robes with hoods and I couldn’t see their faces, but they were all writing. In front of them was a low courtroom bar and I immediately knew that if I crossed it, I would never be coming back.”
“We went up very fast and in the blink of and eye we were in this wonderous place of bright-colored landscapes. There were beautiful plants and grass. All of this was alive, like they were conscious plants. (That’s the only way I can describe it.) It was a place full of joy that even the plants were happy.”
“She felt as though she were taking a gentle journey down a river. She heard beautiful music. She felt a degree of peace and joy such as she had never experienced before.”
And here are the links shared by a very kind commenter, Andie Kirkdale:
Carl G. Jung was a world-renowned psychiatrist at the time of his near-death experience. “It seemed to me that I was high up in space. Far below I saw the globe of the Earth, bathed in a gloriously blue light.”
His experience is shared in his book, Memories, Dreams, Reflections, but excerpts can be read at NDERF.org
“So beautiful was his light, words cannot express. His light was like the rising sun. And like the sun, he rose up from behind the mountains into the sky. Love poured into every part of my being and my soul was revitalized.”
Akiane is an artist who began a serious effort at creating art at age 4. By age eight, her art could clearly be described as professional level. But the fascinating part of her story is how she was inspired to create her art… and the subject of two masterpieces that have opened the eyes of many to an image of the Savior that is recognized by many who have had near-death experiences.
Sharon Prentice had a remarkable shared-death experience, and on today’s episode, we interview her about her experience and her phenomenal book, Becoming Starlight.
Sharon’s website is http://sharonprentice.com
She can also be reached on her Facebook page or on Twitter.
“I was exhausted so I went to my room to sleep. What happened next is difficult to put into words. I felt as though I was in a timeless place. I felt incredibly peaceful and surrounded by an essence that was beyond love as we know it in human form.”
Andrew was riding his motorcycle with his friends in a park when they found themselves running into each other in a head-on collision. While in the air, Andrew had a remarkable out-of-body experience.
Mary Anne was in a car accident that killed her. And she met God.
Erin was dying in the hospital after complications from giving birth to her child, and met a man she supposed to be an angel, who told her incredible things she’d never forget. But when she met the man later, on earth, he seemed to have no memory of her or the incident.
When David Oakford found his life full of misery and depression, he turned to alcohol and drugs for help. But his cry for help went too far when he overdosed, and found himself out of his body. And while some (including David, at first) might consider his expansive experience a massive drug trip, he came to realize that this was much, much more than that.
“I’m not afraid of death or dying. I don’t even care how I die. I have a promise made to me by the Creator, the moment my mission in this existence is over, I will leave immediately and I don’t care how I go out. I just want to go home.”
Sharon Prentice’s husband was dying. And though he was stepping beyond the veil into eternity, Sharon had no idea that she would have the opportunity to follow him partway… until it happened.
Sharon’s book is called, Becoming Starlight: A Shared-Death Journey from Darkness to Light
Also, we had some wonderful comments by listeners, including one by Ben Bigelow, host of the podcast The Pathway of the Mystic, which is also available on iTunes.
After her heart collapsed, Nancy died—but for a time, didn’t know it. She heard people visiting in the other room, and it wasn’t until she went in to see them that she realized that some of the people were relatives who had long since died.
Jean, Kris, and Arthur each had an NDE, and in this episode we share them.
Also, we now have a Patreon page to help support the podcast. Whether you can participate or not, I THANK YOU SO MUCH for listening!
“A year later I was talking to my grandmother about falling and walking around and seeing everything green, and holding my head and laying down. My grandmother said, ‘You fell off the roof and you never got up until the paramedics put you in the ambulance’. I figured she was just old and couldn’t remember because I knew I was walking around…”
Dianne Morrissey was electrocuted, and died before she hit the floor. And her spirit, looking down at her body, had the chance to go on and see marvelous things… things that made her not want to come back.
Did you have a house in the spirit world with your own bedroom? Spencer did. In fact, Spencer’s account suggests that we all had such a place, designed uniquely for us by Father.Today we read a sample of Spencer’s experience from the book, Visions of Glory by John Pontius.
After sharing the experience of Victor from Ukraine, and a discussion of his NDE, we share a listener question about resurrection, and explore some ideas around the question.
“My presence fills the room. And now I feel my presence in every room in the hospital. Even the tiniest space in the hospital is filled with this presence that is me. I sense myself beyond the hospital, above the city, even encompassing Earth. I am melting into the universe. I am everywhere at once. I see pulsing light everywhere. Such a loving presence envelops me!”
“It was Easter Monday. Early that morning I sat bolt upright in bed. My husband asked me what was the matter. I exclaimed, ‘Jesus, I’ve seen Jesus!’”
“[My heart] Lub-thump… lub-thump… lub—(silence)—came completely to rest . I could immediately feel the blood flow slow down, then completely stop in every part of the body. In that first second, I became detached from the body and hovered within and around it.”
In response to a very kind listener’s call, we talk about the music that near-death experiencers hear in the spirit world. Lani Leary, whose experience we shared in a previous episode, heard beautiful music in heaven, and some time after her return found herself mesmerized by the work of Iasos in a piece he wrote called Angels of Comfort.
Stewart Sharp had a shared-death experience, in which he heard remarkably beautiful music. In that vision, he was told that he would be gifted with a memory of every note and nuance of the music he’d heard. Not being a musician, when he returned, he decided he’d better start learning how to write music. The resulting musical work is called, Angeli Symphony.
Finally, Steve Roach had a near-death experience, and set out to share the music he heard in his experience. Gilles Bedard also had a near-death experience, in which he was told to bring the music of heaven to earth. When Gilles came across Steve Roach’s piece called Structures from Silence, he recognized it as what he’d heard on the other side.
In this episode, we share these stories and a sample of the music that resulted.
After sharing the experience of Connie, who had a brief brush with the afterlife following surgery, we share a listener comment and discuss dreams in the context of the near-death experience. We also share a comment that sheds further insight on the episode about the NDE of Leola Curtis.
When Sherry’s son died, she was devastated. But four months after his death, Sherry had an experience that assured her that her son was both okay, and waiting for her.
Bill was in a terrible car accident that left him not in pain, but rather in total comfort and relaxation. And as he left his body, he says, “I was pure energy and I was drawn to a huge white and golden light that seemed to encompass the whole universe.”
Chen’s NDE carries some interesting insights about the connection of the spirit and the body. After experiencing a tunnel, and then a place of warm, loving, learning, Chen was able to control his physical body sufficient to keep it alive until he was able to get back in.
Kesha was in a pretty bad place in her life when a drug overdose took her out of this world, and into the next. But, like the beloved Christmas Carol character, Ebenezer Scrooge, Kesha found in her experience motivation to make a change.
My grandma, Leola Curtis, felt sick one day and went to the hospital. Despite all the tests they ran, they couldn’t find the cause of her illness. Yet she worsened, unable to keep anything down. And during the six days she spent in the hospital, she weakened, and finally passed out.
That’s when her experience began…
Lani Leary went to the dentist (sad to say, after reading so many dental NDEs, I’m a little less comfortable now getting dental work done!), had an allergic reaction to the nitrous oxide, and died. And floating over her body, rather than feeling sad about her death, she felt compassion for the poor dentist, who was nearly panicking. In this episode, we share her experience.
Bonni Burrows had several near-death experiences—including one as an infant. But her experience as an adult offers some absolutely beautiful insights into the spirit world. The audio for this episodecomes partly from a video of a panel where Bonni gives a summary of her experience.
In her book, Embraced by the Light, Bettie Eadie shares some remarkable insights about our life as spirits before we came to earth. In this episode, we read from chapter 13, which shares potential answers to questions about earthly trials, choosing spouses/families before mortality, when the spirit enters the baby, reincarnation, and our individual life missions.
Larry was driving his wife to work, when he started suddenly feeling dizzy. After switching drivers, he passed out. The next thing he knows, he’s in a tunnel that is unlike anything he’s ever seen before.
Howard Storm’s near-death experience gives us many insights into the afterlife. But his conversation with Jesus about God’s plan to save this planet shares even more insight into this life. In this episode, we hear Howard’s voice sharing his own account of the story many have come to call, Love the Person You’re With.
Howard Storm was a hard-core atheist. The biggest surprise of his life came when he died, and found, to his absolute shock, that he still existed.
Howard’s book, My Descent Into Death, is available on Amazon.com
Erica McKenzie was slowly killing herself. It wasn’t that she wanted to die, but she never felt that she was enough. The problem became severe enough that after taking a narcotic diet pill (which is only supposed to be taken for a short time) for nine years, it finally killed her. That marked the beginning of McKenzie’s NDE, which changed her life forever.
We share the short version of her experience on the podcast, but I also found a longer video that goes into a bit more detail, for those interested in hearing more—which I recommend. Also, her book, Dying to Fit In, can be bought on Amazon.

Raymond Moody, in his groundbreaking book, Life After Life, talks about a border that many near-death experiencers come to that seems to separate them from this life. In this episode, we read five short samples from his book that demonstrate various types of borders people come across, and the implications of crossing those borders.
P.M.H. Atwater is both an experiencer and a near-death researcher. Her book, The Big Book of Near-Death Experiences is not a repository of NDEs, but rather a kind of encyclopedia of the various aspects of near-death experiences. Today we read a few short samples from her book on the subject of four types of near-death experiences:
Ranelle Wallace was in a terrible plane crash that left her not only severely burned, but in a critical condition. Her near-death experience which follows is incredibly detailed, insightful, and absolutely beautiful.
Ranelle’s book, The Burning Within, shares more detail than what we read today.
Do we have names in the spirit world?
With our thoughts being open, is it possible to keep communication between only two people?
Sometimes it’s the short experiences that have answers to profound questions.
If you’ve never heard Amy Call share her experience, I highly recommend hearing her tell it. That said, the text version of her experience has details not mentioned in the video, so while I do read the text for this podcast, I recommend also watching the video.
Juliet Nightingale didn’t just have a near-death experience, she was given what she calls a “tour” of several of the realms in the spirit world. “The best way I can describe this ‘tour’ was like being in a circular enclosure of windows,” she says, “each pane revealing something different… but when I’d focus on one particular pane, I’d suddenly see the pane become full size. And I stood still—just watching.”
When Kimberly Clark-Sharp’s heart stopped, she felt great. Doctor’s shouted that they couldn’t get a pulse, but Kimberly felt better than she had in many years. The only thing was, Kimberly was dead. And if she thought being out of the body felt great, she came to learn that it didn’t hold a candle to the love, peace, and joy she was about to encounter.
Kimberly wrote a book about her experience, called After the Light:What I Discovered on the Other Side of Life That Can Change Your World
Also, we’ve tinkered with the comments section, in hopes of making it possible for everyone to comment (and not be treated like a bot!), so let us know if you have further trouble commenting!
Traci was in a terrible car accident that sent her into the void, which she describes as, “far more real, beautiful, sensical and loving than the material world I had previously thought was ‘life’.”
Anne developed an abscess that was to be surgically removed. Scarcely did they have her admitted for surgery, and her spirit “soared out of the hospital and into the universe.”
Both experiences shed some interesting light on aspects of the afterlife that are worth noting, since all of us will get a turn to die.
When does the spirit enter the body? Is it at the moment of conception, or the moment of birth? The first response I have to give is, I don’t know. But are there experiences that shed some light on this subject? And the answer to that question is yes. Both Todd Burpo’s book, Heaven is For Real, and Roy Mills’ book, The Soul’s Remembrance, provide insights on this topic that I find absolutely fascinating.
Also mentioned in this podcast is Betty J. Eadie’s podcast, Embracing Life, which, while not actively producing new episodes, I highly recommend listening to the episodes she has released.
After sharing three anonymous near-death experiences, we have a brief discussion about astral travel—whether or not it’s always what it claims to be, and just for fun, an even shorter discussion about the bell sound sometimes mentioned by experiencers.
The three experiences are taken from the archives of IANDS.org.
Laurelynn Martin was in the middle of a promising tennis career when a routine surgery suddenly threw her into the afterlife.
“As the brilliance increased and the encompassing rays stretched to meet me, I felt that time, as we know it, was nonexistent. Time and existence were a blending and a melding of the past, present and future into this one moment. A sense of all-knowing enveloped me. Every part of my being was satisfied with an unconditional love beyond description. All questions were answered. An inner peace without striving or achieving was created and understood.”
Laurelynn’s book, Searching for Home, is available on Amazon.com, and her website (which includes the gardening books she’s authored) is http://www.laurelynnmartin.com/
Is this life an experience or a test? What is the purpose of good and evil? How much choice do we have about the conditions we are born into? Diane receives answers to these questions in her near-death experience, and we discuss some of these questions further.
Today we share the experiences of Jenna and Erica, both listeners to our show. Jenna overdosed on a highly hallucinogenic drug, and saw a glimpse of her own funeral. And Erica experienced a profound shared-death experience surrounding the death of a beloved aunt.
Special thanks to both Jenna and Erica for sharing these profound experiences with us!
Pegi Robinson had two near-death experiences. The first was at age five, but it wasn’t until about two decades later that the memory of that experience returned—and when
it did, it came back strong. But if that five-year old experience wasn’t enough, her second near-death experience as an adult took her all the way heaven and into the presence of God.
Pegi’s Book is called, The Will of a Wildflower
“I was dizzy with a headache, so I went to bed. In the morning, I was awakened by my daughter. It was around 10 o’ clock. I woke up very dizzy with a strong headache. I made a little breakfast for my daughter, who would turn five the next month. Since the breakfast cereal box looked empty, I decided to toss it in the trash but I didn’t have any energy. So, I dropped it to the ground to step on it. When I stepped on the empty carton, I was sucked out to who knows where…”
Text for this NDE is from NDERF.org
While on a surfing trip, Ian MacCormack was bit by a deadly poisonous jellyfish. After a grueling struggle to stay alive long enough to get help, Ian’s body gives way, and he dies. But upon his return, he completely turns his life around—and not just because his life nearly ended.
During a kayaking trip with her husband, Mary Neal became trapped against some rocks with the intense white-water river rushing over her. As a medical professional, she recognized the ligaments tearing and bones breaking as she was twisted and pulled by the water.
But when the unexpected lack of pain suddenly found her rising safely and effortlessly from the water, she realized that rather than being the end of her journey, this was just the beginning.
Sharon Milliman had not just one near-death experience, but four. In this special episode, we interview Sharon, and talk about each of her four NDEs, as well as several other spiritual experiences she’s had.
Sharon’s experiences shed such a beautiful light on heaven, and offer the hope that not only is there nothing to fear, but that there is joy, fun, and love awaiting on the other side.
Sharon’s book, A Song in the Wind, is available on Amazon.com
Ronna Lackey had at least two NDEs, and from them, she learned the importance and value of doing family history. Often those we meet on the other side of the veil are family, and in Ronna’s case, she didn’t recognize the spirits she met. Only later, in looking through old photos, does she see the faces of the spirits she met beyond the veil.
This episode is from a chapter of Lee Nelson’s Book, Beyond the Veil, Volume II
Linda Stewart died after a long, painful illness. But then she returned. And though discussions of death were not previously welcome, suddenly she couldn’t keep from talking about her own, because during her own death, Linda had a beautiful, remarkable experience that changed the direction of her life. Completely altered her belief
system, and after putting her life completely in God’s hands, she became of great service to people by making them aware of the angels that
constantly surrounded them. With one eye still open to the spirit world around us, Linda is a great example of some of the potential after effects of a near-death experience.
After sharing Mache’s simple yet profound NDE, we discuss a listener’s questions on priesthood, temples, LGBT lifestyle, and suicide.
When a 105 degree temperature put Amphianda in the hospital, she was just feeling a little off. But after a few moments of delirium, she found herself leaving her body and entering a beautiful landscape.
After a long period of illnesses, surgeries, and finally a seizure resulting in heart -attack, Alma died. Gratefully, she returned. But when she returned, she had a story to share that she just couldn’t keep silent about.
Today we veer off the beaten path a bit.
In response to a generous listener, in this episode I discuss a project I’ve been working on for the past couple years to write an album of music intended to reflect the music one might hear in Heaven. The album, albeit incomplete as yet, is called Home. The hope is that it will have at least 10 pieces before the album can be considered finished.
Having not had an NDE myself, I can’t be sure how well I’m doing. But I have had some of what I’d call thin veil experiences, one of which took place in conjunction with the first piece from the album. I also discuss the inspiration for the music (which is from the Home album) that I use as the theme music for this podcast. Many have asked me about this music, so I thought it appropriate to discuss it on the show.
You can listen to the album by going to https://chashathaway.bandcamp.com/album/home
I’ve also created 1 hour loop versions of the following pieces (for using in meditation). I’ll see if I can find a way to make these available online. Let me know if this is something you’d like.

After the suicide of his husband, Brandon suffered from PTSD, and a deep depression set in that led him to take his own life—twice. But thank heaven, Brandon returned both times. Brandon is a listener of the show, and called in to share his NDE with us.
Continuing Lance Richardson’s account, we share one of the many examples of music in heaven, as will as a discussion about religion and the near-death experience.
While some NDEs have a deeply ethereal, transcendental flavor, giving the listener the sense that heaven is without senses, but that there is nothing but flowing love and intelligence for eternity, others, like Lance’s, provide a picture that is so relatable as to almost seem mortal—albeit beautiful, joyful, and blissful.
Lynnclaire Dennis had a beautiful near-death experience that completely changed her way of looking at life. Despite initially attacking her husband for bringing her back when he revived her, her experience taught her the true meaning of love.
By now, we may understand that there is a grand, overarching plan to our life here on earth, but what about the individual plan each of us have for our own lives? What about our unique life purpose?
The NDE samples read in this episode come from Wisdom of Near-Death Experiences, by Dr. Penny Sartori.
While playing in the ocean with her mother, a massive wave washed over them, separating her from her mother. Fighting for air, and unable to surface, Lisa eventually let go of the struggle, and found herself in the most loving light she’d ever experienced.
Do people in the spirit world work? Are there jobs to be done? With the help of Bettie J. Eadie’s book, Embraced by the Light, we get some clues.
How would it be to have all the answers? For a brief time, during her near-death experience, Jean seemed to have them; as she puts it, “the sum total of all ‘knowing’ or wisdom of all people for all time – past, present and future.’
Just for fun today I thought I’d share a few of the first-hand accounts of a few Hollywood celebrities who had near-death experiences. Though there are dozens to be found out there, these are the ones I could find recordings of them giving the account.
After sharing some very insightful thoughts by a listener, we share the experience of Brad, who both drowned as a child and was attacked as an adult.
But unique to Brad’s experience, because he was approached before his second experience and asked if he would like to have the experience.
In his near-death experience, David experienced seven levels of heaven. And while he didn’t give a great deal of detail (perhaps 2/5 on the detail scale), what he does say about them is… well, out of this world.
Plus we share a fun little experience of a high schooler who, in a momentary scare, has a life review.
Nanci Danison had a remarkable near-death experience. It involved an overwhelming encounter with the light that seemed to be completely independent of her senses—no vision, no sound, no sensation—but also seemed to involve the deepest part of her nature, which wanted more than anything to become utterly and eternally one (merged) with God.
In this episode, we share a recording of her experience, and discuss what it might suggest about the nature of our existence.
This near-death experiencer had 2 NDEs, the second of which came after a brutal bullying. But the lessons learned from the experience pointed to nothing but love.
Ned Dougherty had a heart attack, which killed him. Gratefully, he was revived, but upon his return, not only did he talk about heaven (including heavenly beings, the temple of knowledge, and several other amazing things), but he was given many prophecies about what may happen if mankind doesn’t follow the plan laid out before we came to earth.
What should we make of the prophecies given by near-death experiencers?
Ned’s Book, Fast Lane to Heaven, is available on Amazon.com
You might say Jonathan learned the danger of LSD the hard way—or you could say he learned it’s danger the nicest way possible. He overdosed, and had a near-death experience. To his credit, though, his NDE jumpstarted the life cleanup that helped him stop doing drugs for good.
Christianne’s NDEs are interesting—not just because she had 5 of them, but also because of her manner of telling about them. A bit of a humorist, but not one to give a lot of detail, the account comes out as a sort of hodge-podge of otherworldly experiences.
Still, I think it’s worth adding to our listening library.
P. M. H. Atwater is something of a legend in NDE study circles, because she’s written several books on the subject, and speaks on the subject everywhere she goes. And lest you think she’s doing it as some get-rich thing, it was the Light that told her to write three books. At the time she had no idea what the Light was talking about, but her mission since has become obvious.
In this episode, we share her account of her own experience—with the focus on her first near-death experience.
Also, just for fun, here’s a video that slides through several drawings or art pieces composed by people who have had near-death experiences, and have tried to draw what they saw.
Dr. George Rodonaia died. If there’s any question of that fact, consider that he was in the morgue for three days, and didn’t return from death until they began to cut him open in an autopsy.
But his memory of those three days is quite remarkable.
In this third and final reading from John Pontius’ book, Visions of Glory, we talk about some interesting aspects of the interplay between the physical and spiritual worlds.
In this episode, we share more from John Pontius’ book, Visions of Glory. John Pontius wrote this book on behalf of Spencer, who had the NDEs discussed, after over 50 interviews with Spencer.
John Pontius’ book, Visions of Glory, shares the account of Spencer, who had several near-death experiences in his life. In this episode, we share a few snippets from the first such experience, and the perspective it gave Spencer.
Paul had a simple near-death experience, but the love displayed by the four people involved was so profound that it offered not only strong evidence of the afterlife, but that those on the other side are eager to help and guide us when love is our motivation.
Pam Reynolds had a beautiful near-death experience that by viewed in a BBC interview, but here we share a more detailed account of her experiences on the other side.
Arthur Yensen, a cartoonist, was in a terrible car accident that provided him with a beautiful NDE.
Dr. Eben Alexander is a neurosurgeon who got a deadly condition known as bacterial meningitis, which put him into a coma where the brain is essentially dead—incapable of dreams, no conscious thoughts, nothing
But what Dr. Alexander experiences can be called anything but nothing.
From Dr. Alexander’s book, Proof of Heaven.

Today we share the experience of a man named Jack, recorded in Dr. Raymond Moody’s book, Life After Life.
Today we share the NDE of a 5-year old child, and another of a battle-hardened soldier of war.
A Greater Tomorrow. My Journey Beyond: the Veil by Julie Rowe
In this discovery episode (meaning I’m reading this experience for the first time myself), we share the beginning of Julie Rowe’s Experience as shared in her book, A Greater Tomorrow: My Journey Beyond the Veil.

Carol Vengroff had a beautiful near-death experience, and today we share an interview that Lee Witting of IANDS NDE Radio had with her, where she describes her experience as a 12-year old child, when she froze to death.
Here is a link to the IANDS NDE Radio podcast: https://www.talkzone.com/previousepisodes/204/NDERadio.html

What do you call an experience with the light when it is preceded by drunkenness and drug overdose? Is it just a drug trip, or is it a true near-death experience?
The video shared in this episode can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-GHrsSqcNw and the girl’s channel is at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrOug6Q95esPTbSXsvI_-Lgwww.youtube.com/channel/UCrOug6Q95esPTbSXsvI_-Lg
Near-death experiences don’t have to be expansive to be profound and intimate.
If, as many near-death experiencers seem to say, there is no judgment on the other side, does that mean all religions that teach of judgment are wrong?
We’ve talked a lot about life after death. What do we know about life before birth? Where did we come from? What was it like?
Why do the records of some near-death experiences share great detail even when the experience was short, and others are given with very little detail even though the experience was expansive?
The experiences shared on this episode can be found at http://www.nderf.org/Experiences/1vision_changed_nde.html and http://www.nderf.org/Experiences/1timestoodstill.html
Thomas Sawyer has one of these near-death experiences that is so encompassing that it not only blows the mind, but it leaves the mind in a cloudy mess on the floor, to the point where the receiver is left wondering what to think of it at all.
Maybe that’s what I like about it. It’s too much to take in—so I say, “Bring it.”
Is suffering meaningless? Or does it have a purpose? In this episode, we share highlights of the amazing near-death experience of Natalie Sudman, and talk a bit about what it can teach us about challenges, trials, pain, and suffering.
Not all near-death experiences are bliss. In fact, some are downright frightening. What can we learn from hellish near-death experiences?
The written text from this NDE can be found at http://www.nderf.org/Experiences/1sarah_nde.html
And the interview with Art Bell on Coast to Coast can be heard at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BOPuWq2AD4
The near-death experiences of Beverly and Michaela.
What do we know about what happens to those who commit suicide?
In this episode, we share the experience of one who killed herself, had a near-death experience, and then chose to return.
Today we share three recent near-death experiences from the Near-Death Experience Research Foundation website. you can read the experiences of Brian H, Evelyn D, and Charlie J on that website.
Those who study near-death experiences long enough are bound to come across the concept of reincarnation. The question is, is it real? Do we experience multiple mortal lives? In this episode we address that question.
Here’s an experience I haven’t read yet, but that we discover together. I did this partly because I enjoy discovering things fresh, and partly to illustrate that I’m not cherry-picking these accounts based on my beliefs.
Most of the experiences I at least scan through to assess factors like length or particular subject matter (such as a discussion about a particular aspect of NDEs), but not this time—and I actually take this approach more often than I have yet admitted.
Near-death experiences make it clear that there is something after this life. But what about before?
Russell Ricks’ near-death-like experience sheds some light on this.
Experience quoted in this episode is from Russell Ricks’ book, Remember: A Little Boy’s Near-Death Experience.
After sharing the NDE of Karen Shaeffer, we discuss the after effects many experiencers have following their visit to the other side.
And this isn’t the stuff of paranormal fiction, either.
I have a few disclaimers surrounding near-death experiences. These are things to keep in mind as you study NDEs to ensure that you have a good balance of open-mindedness and healthy skepticism.
Three near-death experiences recorded in the last week and a half.

Ricky Randolph went hunting alone, and as one who goes out into the woods alone without telling anyone is want to do, he slips, and falls from an eighty-foot cliff.
But rather than being the end of his story, it’s just the beginning.
What does a blind person see when they have a near-death experience? Vicki Noratuk, who went blind since shortly after her birth, can tell us.

If you haven’t studied near-death experiences, this idea of being one with everything may sound a little odd. But it is clearly one of the fundamental aspects of the near-death experience.
This is the 12th of the 12 fundamentals. If you’re just beginning your study of NDEs, you may want to listen to this and the previous 11 episodes to get the wide view of what we’re talking about. Once you understand (as much as we mere mortals can, anyway) these twelve events/ideas, you’ll begin to recognize near-death experiences when people tell them to you. When you speak to someone whose been in a coma, or passed out at the hospital, or whatever, and they tell you they had the strangest dream, if you’ve listened to these first 12 episodes, you’ll likely be able to discern whether or not the person may have had a near-death experience.
And let me say, if you do listen to someone tell about their experience, please, PLEASE, don’t shut them down or downplay what they’ve experienced. They’re probably feeling quite vulnerable or confused, and if you have the empathy to listen and essentially say, “Thank you for telling me about this. Tell me more!” Then it will help them a TON in reconnecting and reorienting with both this world and the next.
In case you like your urban setting, have no fear! According to NDEs, there are buildings, cities, and (believe it or not) technology in the spirit world.

What is the terrain on the other side? Are we all just living on a cloud? What kind of landscape will we be in after death?
We’re still discussing the basics today, this time focusing on the light. More than just brightness emanating from from a bunch of protons, the light discussed in near-death experiences is full of much, much more.
Will we meet with loved ones again after we die?
For most, the answer seems to be a resounding YES!
How do spirits communicate? Are there still language barriers in Heaven? How well can we really understand each other on the other side?
How does time pass in the spirit world? Do we perceive time the same as here?
The short answer is, we probably don’t perceive it at all.
Meeting God is not common in mortal life. But what about after death?
There are few aspects to the near-death experience that have had a more profound effect on the way I live my life than the concept of the life review.
Far more than your life flashing before your eyes, in some ways the life review may someday teach you more than your actual life did.
Let’s talk about the tunnel. Possibly one of the most commonly known elements of a near-death experience. In this episode, we read the remarkable NDE of Grace Bubulka-Hatmaker.
The second common element in a near-death experience after Out of the Body is the void. I was tempted to save this one for later, but it really is quite a common experience. It may be a little harder an element to swallow at first, but if you become familiar with the concept, and read many examples of people’s experience with it, it’s likely to become quite comfortable.
Welcome to Near-Death Experience Podcast! We start today by sharing the first moments of Betty J. Eadie’s near-death experience, and then talk briefly about the podcast itself.
There are elements common in many near-death experiences, and today we discuss one of the first: when an individual finds him/herself in the room, looking back at the body on the bed.
