Spring and Father Frost had a lovely daughter who could never love, but what happens when she yearns to?
Aleksandr Ostrovsky's folk play "The Snow Maiden" had many harsh critics including ones that called it anti-theatrical, a story about a stupid king and his stupid subjects, and a pale imitation of Shakespeare's Midsummers Night Dream. However, despite the initial onslaught, the mythologically rich folk story later became a national hit. Follow us on this journey from Afanasyev's "Snow Child" all the way to Nikolai Rimsky‐Korsakov's opera!

From tiny bamboo babies to Moon People straight out of a science fiction novel, 10th century Japan was a rough time for our fictional bamboo cutter. Is it comforting knowing that simply living on earth is punishment for other beings?
Enjoy the tale of the Bamboo Cutter and his Daughter: Kaguya-hime.
Casual murder and true crime’s kiss lead to a happy marriage! Who knew? Don’t learn any lessons in this classic tale about breaking promises, pets at the dinner table, and again- murder. We cannot stress that murder, intentional murder, takes place in this story. Oh and there was never a kiss. Whoops. Thanks, Disney.
This story about a Princess hoppin' away with murder is from the Brother's Grimm. Originally titled: Der Froschkönig oder der eiseme Heinrich.
