We got all the updates on his new rig, guitars, pedals and a few tips & tricks on how to get his special rhythm tone.

Ever wondered where the “Guns” in Guns N' Roses comes from? Tracii Guns is one of the prominent members of the LA glam rock scene in the '80 and a founder of the aforementioned globally successful band. He built up the majority of his back catalogue with the reformation of previous group L.A. Guns as lead guitarist.

We dived into the heyday of the Sunset Strip scene, as well as chatted about his signature Kramer guitar. Heads up, this one contains explicit language.

We got an insight into Cory's awesome playing style, the gear he uses and his success with Vulfpeck.

Death, doom, gloom and a whole load of stomping metal riffs! Richard Shaw came into extreme metal band Cradle of Filth and reinvigorated their music, going on to contribute towards some of the best contemporary death metal records around. He's heavily inspired by the likes of Queen, Metallica and even R&B musicians.

You might have thought the Captain was out of place here, but no! Richard is a great guy with lots of interesting stories and even went to the shop's nearby music school. The pair talk about inspirations, PRS guitars and touring.

Amen-Ra is the guitarist and founding member of Finnish metal band ‘Lordi’ - winners of the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest! Amen talks about his long career in the music business, shocking tour stories, and the story behind his distinctive mask. Gear up for one of our strangest interviews ever!

Mark Holcomb is part of the triple threat of guitarists in one of metal's biggest modern bands: Periphery. Mark is known to bring slamming, sliding, melodic sections to the American five-piece's progressive style. He's also big into his death metal and those blast beats, combined with thunderous riffing work their way into the music as well.

Jeff Schroeder has been the guitarist for alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins for more than a decade now - becoming a mainstay of their touring line-up since he joined in 2007. Before that, he was an integral member of The Lassie Foundation. They were regarded as a trailblazing act who developed their own unique 'shoegaze' guitar sound.

During the interview, The Captain talks with Jeff about sharing festivals with Dream Theater and The Cure, as well as his guitar inspirations. There's even a hands-on discussion/demonstration about pedals, where the guy's show you just how to nail some of Jeff's favourite tones!

Mick Thompson is one half of Slipknot's legendary crushing metal guitar section and has been with the band since the very early days of the nine-piece's existence. He's known as an extremely tight player, with an absolutely rapid picking hand and panchant for a filthy riff.

Allen Hinds is an American blues/jazz guitar virtuoso. As one of the session scene's biggest starts, Hinds has multiple performing/recording credits to his name and has worked with the likes of Natalie Cole, The Crusaders, Hiroshima and Bobby Caldwell - with his slick fusion style always shining through. The Alabama-born musician has also launched a successful solo career, with his songs featured on TV shows like JAG, Pawn Stars and Sliced.

Gus G is a heavy metal legend, and even that's an understatement. He's most well known for his work with Firewind, but has also played with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Nightrage and Kamelot - applying his excellent playing and tone to a range of titanic sounding acts.

Ola Englund is a YouTube superstar. Named Musicradar's 'Best Online Guitar Personality' in 2019, the Super Swede is still growing a dedicated fanbase who regularly tune-in to his hilarious weekly FAQ, 'Will It Chug?' and 'Rig of the Week' videos.

Aside from his YouTube endeavours, Ola has proven himself as a successful businessman and currently runs Solar Guitars. Performing lead guitar duties in metal band The Haunted and part of many other musical projects too; he certainly keeps himself busy!

Brazilian guitar virtuoso Lari Basilio is a true musical genius. Combining skilful, melodic and tasteful playing, Lari has developed a unique instrumental style that has garnered appreciation and admiration from across the music world.

Lari stopped by the Andertons HQ to showcase her sensational playing, while also discussing her childhood in São Paulo, why she picked up the instrument, guitar heroes, and a certain collaboration with Joe Satriani...Something that The Captain is very jealous about!

The LA Daily News once described Matt Schofield using the following sentence. “In Schofield, the UK has produced the best Blues guitarist from any country in decades…head and shoulders above the herd”. Never has a few words been so accurate. Matt has justifiably been ranked alongside notable legendary players, including Peter Green and Eric Clapton – with a level of playing and talent that saw him inducted into the British Blues Hall of Fame.

In this episode, The Captain sits down with Matt to talk growing up in Manchester, musical inspirations, his career to date, and what he’s getting up to in the future. There’s even time for a quick rig tour and a demonstration of his truly mind-boggling guitar skills!

This time, the Captain isn’t meeting someone known for their guitar playing ability. No, Christoph Kemper is far more influential. Getting into music as a keys player, Christoph developed his first virtual analogue synth and founded Access Music. He then moved onto guitars, inspired by digital amps.

As you might guess from the name, Christoph is the founder of the company Kemper, who make the guitar gamechanger that is the Profiler – a modelling amp able to create any sound you could possibly imagine. The Captain finds out more about the man behind one of the most influential products in modern music.

The Captain was extremely excited about this one. Old school bluesman Walter Trout is an exceptional guitarist with an ear for a big tune and an inspirational back story.

He made it out of the suburbs growing up on sixties jazz and the big names in rock and roll – eventually joining rock legend John Mayall’s band. Walter Trout recovered from hardship battling drugs and alcohol, and is now over 30 years sober, still on the road with his band and an enviable discography behind him.

Pete Thorn is one of the most popular and respected gear demonstrators on YouTube, known for his professionalism and immensely versatile guitar playing. However, Pete is also a world-class session musician who has played with the likes of Chris Cornell, Jewel and Don Henley, with several solo albums to his name too.

Originally from Edmonton, Canada, Thorn moved to Los Angeles in his late teens to attend the prestigious Musician's Institute in Los Angeles. He has been a prominent, in-demand player on the LA scene ever since, and regularly travels the world with international acts as well.

During his European clinic tour, Pete stopped by at the Andertons studio and sat down with The Captain to discuss his journey to guitar greatness, as well as his long-time association with Suhr guitars. Giving us a full rundown on his new and highly-innovative PT-15 I.R. Signature Valve Head, Pete shows us why he's such a "guitar nerd" - in his own words!

There's far more to Mark Agnesi than just that whole "play authentic" thing (you know what we're talking about). As the General Manager at Norman's Rare Guitars for almost a decade, Agnesi made his name presenting their popular 'Guitar of the Day' YouTube series; becoming a mainstay on their well-subscribed channel.

Head-hunted by Gibson in early 2019, Agnesi was appointed the company's Director of Brand Experience; shortly after Gibson unveiled its back-to-basics, ‘Core Collection’ guitar lineup. As a life-long fan of Gibson, Mark's passion for the brand was evident when he spoke with The Captain back in early October.

Discussing his personal collection of instruments and the difficult decision to relocate to Nashville from Los Angeles, Mark also promised plenty of exciting new products from Gibson. But Mark was particularly excited about the gear that Epiphone will be launching in early 2020. We'll have to wait until the NAMM Show to see what they have in store!

Tom Quayle and Martin Miller are spearheading a wave of young guitarists who are out to change the game. Combining a commitment to technique, a passion for jazz harmony and a love for the shred & fusion greats, they've forged an incredible sound that's as precise as it is dynamic. 

Tom Quayle started playing at the age of 15, initially preferring rock styles before gravitating towards jazz and fusion. He graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2002, and set about leaving his mark on the guitar world. He's since performed with the likes of John Petrucci, Dweezil Zappa, Greg Howe and many more.

Martin Miller studied at the renowned Carl-Maria-von-Weber college of music in Dresden, Germany, where he cut his teeth on the local performance circuit. Since then, he's hosted clinics and masterclasses worldwide and contributed to countless guitar tuition sits, becoming an invaluable resource for musicians everywhere.

Both now Ibanez artists with their own signature guitars, Tom & Martin stopped by the Andertons studio to give us the lowdown!

A wizard on guitar, Albert Lee is a true ‘old-time’ country and rock player with chops in the bucketloads. You might find it surprising that he’s not actually American! Albert Lee is arguably Britain’s most successful export in the genre, having worked with the Everly Brothers, Eric Clapton and Dolly Parton.

Described as a man without ego by his peers and the likes of Jimmy Page and Ritchie Blackmore, Albert is known as a real guitar player’s guitarist. Most of the time, you’ll find him with his signature Music Man or a Tele in his hands.

The Gristle King himself! Greg Koch is one of our favourite guitarists here at Andertons. He’s an incredibly expressive, versatile player and we think he’s a bit of an underrated gem.

Greg has an envious catalogue of critically acclaimed albums stretching back to his 1993. Joe Bonamassa and Steve Vai have referred to Greg as an inspiring player and one of the best around today.

You can tell Jennifer Batten is a guitarist who has put in the hard graft to make it as a pro. And it certainly paid off, making the jump from teaching and playing in a number of cover bands up to playing for Michael Jackson and Jeff Beck.

You’ve got to be good to play with these guys, and Jennifer proved early on that she's got what it takes. She’s famous for her two-hand tapping technique and sumptuous blend of jazz and glamorous ‘80s shred – think Van Halen but funkier.

First of all, yes, Pete is in fact Danish. Peter Honore originally hailed from Denmark, land of pastries, Carlsberg and really happy people according to multiple studies. Pete has enjoyed a colourful career touring the world with some of the biggest artists on the planet; Girls Aloud, Westlife, Tom Jones and Lionel Richie, to name a handful.
