In this episode, we focus on the August 15 stable Android13 landing for qualifying Pixel phones.
We also talked about things you ought to know after getting the update.
You can choose to opt out of the Beta before September, that, meaning you will not be part of the “QPR”—Quarterly Platform Releases betas that Google pushes out for those in the program.
So, in order not to be part of that, then after you update to the stable release, then navigate to this page and opt out of the beta.
We also discussed the fact that if you have a Tensor-powered phone, e.g., Pixel6, Pixel6Pro and the just released Pixel6A, according to this Google Developer page, that you wouldn’t be able to unroll back to Android 12 if you wanted to do so.
The page does not tell us why, but according to this article from Android Police, the reason behind this is owed to an exploit in the Bootloader of the Tensor-powered phones running Android12; thus, resulting in the anti-rollback as doing so, would reintroduce that exploit.
· We now have a PayPal URL for those of you who have not been able to donate to the cause because of not being to use the “Buy me a coffee” URL. You can now instead, use the PayPal method if that is easier for you.
· We also want to thank Chris Gilland, another person, and some other person from India who have generously donated to the cause.
· We appreciate each and everyone that has donated to the cause or is thinking about it.
· Also, we want to thank those of you who are not able to donate something but still listen to us and read our forum emails. We are thankful to each and every one!
In the “Spotlight,” we focus on the landing of the Android13 for the qualifying Pixel phones as described above.

In this episode, we touched a little bit more on Android 12, especially on the fact that, the two-finger hold-down to enable accessibility upon booting up the phone has been removed, leaving only the two-volume key hold-down.
This is a review of android 12 after using for 2 days.
We were also delighted to report that Eloquence still works on the Android 12 Developer Preview 1 and all the apps that I, Warren has on my phone, including KNFB reader, surprisingly work.
We also touched on the fact that in Android 12, for those who rely on magnification, there is now an option to only magnify portions of the screen or a given area on the screen.
We then did a short demo of KNFB reader which surprisingly works on android 12 dp1.
KNFB reader can be found at.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sensotec.knfbreader&hl=en_IN&gl=US
Then for the app of the week section, we did a demo about National Park Service App
Which can be found at.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gov.nps.mobileapp
this app is only useful for people in the USA.
About magnification, our guest, Pete Torking from the UK, demonstrated Keypass, a password management app and in the process, mentioned other password management apps, including sites that would let you know if one of your passwords have been compromised.
These apps are:
Keypass from:
Keepass2:++
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=keepass2android.keepass2android
"Syncthing:"
when Pete did a demonstration of keypass and other apps, you will not hear talkback as he uses magnification.
But he has given a detailed step by step description of what you should do.
We will do a demo of these apps with talkback shortly.
The conversation also touched on data breach sites that would let you know if your email is out there with your passwords and those sites are:
"Have I Been Pwned" from:
"Breach Directory" from:
Pete then proceeded to tell us about his Android Journey story.
It was a joy having Pete and as always, we would love for you guys to come on live or via a recording and tell us your Android Journey stories.

Both Austin, Denis and myself, Warren, simply reflects on our first experiences with the Android platform and the phones that we started the journey with.
Denis lays out the case for keyboard accessibility and general accessibility across the board.
He mentions "Aquamail," an email client used by many blind folks because of its accessibility and ease of use.
"Aquamail" is found at:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kman.AquaMail&hl=en_US&gl=US
Austin takes us back to the days when he got started on his journey, cataloguing the devices on which he had those experiences as he journeyed down the Android lane and recalling the good ole Eyesfree Shell.
In the "App of the week" section, Warren demonstrates an uber-like app called "Truck It," an app intending for hauling things, started by the vets of the United States.
