THE HAUNTER OF THE DARK by H.P. LOVECRAFT

A university student in Providence RI becomes fascinated with a steeple which he can see in the distance from his upper window and decides to check it out one day. When he arrives in that area of the city the locals warn him that the old church has been closed for years, and was known many years ago to have been occupied by an evil force. The young man, already drawn to the supernatural and other-worldly, cannot resist the temptation to explore.
