On episode 350 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we dig deep into the early files of Project Grudge. Intended to alleviate public anxiety over UFOs and persuade the public that UFOs constituted nothing unusual or extraordinary, Project Grudge sought to explain away UFO sightings. Officials recommended that the project be reduced in scope because the very existence of Air Force interest encouraged people to believe in UFOs. Eventually, the Air Force announced the project's termination in December of 1949. However, it would come to light that it was actually still in operation, albeit covertly, until late 1951. And one of the cases investigated was that of the Fort Monmouth UFO in New Jersey. Buried deep in what many believe was a coverup, the most detailed version would come to light through the words of the man who ran Project Grudge, and eventually, Project Blue Book; Edward J. Ruppelt.

On episode 349 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, Ryan, inspired by a recent trip to Japan, digs deep into the legends and lore of the region. Japan has a long and fascinating history when it comes to UFOs, much of which is intricately documented in sacred and ancient texts. There is also an abundance of history that existed only orally until recent times, including that of the Utsuro Bune legend, when a group of fishermen discover a strange vessel in the water carrying a strange humanoid, unlike anyone they'd ever seen before. However, as you'll soon discover, this is only one of the enigmatic encounters that allegedly took place in Japan.

On episode 347 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we head to the Netherlands. On a cold winter night in 1972 in Soesterberg, one of the strangest UFO encounters unfolded in an otherwise quiet neighborhood. Officially investigated by the Dutch UFOlogical Centre, the incident has been almost completely forgotten over half a century later. But for one man who experienced it, it remains a night in in Netherlands he'll never forget.

On episode 346, we head to Portage County, Ohio. In April of 1966, Portage County police officers were investigating an abandoned car on the side of the road. Suddenly, they heard an electrical humming sound coming from the nearby woods. When one of the officers looked up, that's when he saw something in the skies that would lead several police officers on a dramatic chase that spanned over 90 miles and would change the lives of all of the officers forever.

On episode 345 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we head to Berlin. Of the many files released by the CIA, one bearing the title, Flying Saucers in East Germany, from July 9th, 1952 is one of the most interesting. The account would find its way to the CIA after the main witness, Oscar Linke would testify of his claims before a judge. What made the Oscar Linke case even more intriguing is that he and his family would escape the oppression of Soviet-controlled East Germany and into the relative freedom of West Germany before the incident became known. Linke knew that what he'd witnessed wasn't a Soviet craft of any kind. In fact, he didn't believe it to be from any country. He believed it to have come from another world.

On episode 344 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, Ryan returns to bring you the incredible, but tragic story of the Grouse Mountain UFO. On February 12th, 1954, US Air Force Second Lieutenant Lamar Barlow was piloting his F-86 Sabre jet over Grouse Mountain. However, shortly after 12pm, the control tower began receiving ?Mayday? calls from Barlow. What happened next would spark an intense investigation and would depend on the witness testimony of a six-year old girl. What exactly was Barlow chasing and what could possibly have caused his untimely demise?

With decades of research, investigations, and countless Freedom of Information Act requests, he will will not only bring forth undeniable highlights from declassified documents, but also showcase the extent of the coverup surrounding unidentified aerial phenomena. As we navigate through these revelations, showing how, why, and to what extent the truth about UFOs has been kept away from the public eye.

On episode 339 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we head to Exeter, New Hampshire. In September of 1965, 18-year old Norman Muscarello spotted a massive cylindrical-shaped object hovering in a field in the sleepy town of Exeter. He frantically reported the event to local police. Several officers would accompany Muscarello back to the site to investigate. And the craft, whatever it was, was back. Witnessed by the officers and dozens around town, explanations by the local Air Force base were flat-out rejected by the witnesses. Soon, Project Blue Book would be called in to solve the case once and for all. This is the Exeter UFO incident.

Welcome to Comedians on UFOs: Part 2!
We are joined by Tim Barnes, Michael Ian Black, Brian Huskey, Reggie Watts, Andrew Sanford, and Dean Haglund!
UFO accounts can sometimes reminds us of a playful world. A humorous world. A species looking for structure and pattern and constantly being bombarded with both chaos and ridiculousness. And that if most definitely UFOs. And it's also comedy. Comedy gives us a communal experience full of confusion and raw emotional release. It makes us feel more human than ever. So when we're faced with something possibly non-human, we can choose to run away from it or fight it. Or, we can embrace it and sometimes, laugh about it. In this series, Ryan digs into the archives of Somewhere in the Skies to bring you a collection of interviews he's conducted throughout the years with comedians. And, as you'll see, a common thread starts to weave its way through these conversations. Why are comedians drawn to UFOs? How can we use it to both accept and possibly even understand UFO phenomenon?

On episode 337 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we head to Indiana. In 1993, across the state, witnesses in all walks of life would report dozens of UFO sightings for over an hour. All reported similar shaped craft, with red lights being the primary detail that made local authorities believe that everyone was seeing the same thing. The craft seemed to be moving with purpose and destination. But where? And just exactly what was it? Some say it was Apache helicopters. Others believed it to be a craft from another world. But whatever it was, it gripped the entire state of Indiana in what became known as the "Flash UFO Wave of 1993."

On episode 335 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we are joined by author and researcher, Christopher O'Brien. From 1992 to 2002, O?Brien investigated over 1,000 paranormal events reported in the San Luis Valley?located in south-central Colorado/north-central New Mexico. Working with law enforcement officials, ex-military, ranchers and an extensive network of skywatchers, he documented what may have been the most intense wave of unexplained activity ever seen in a single region of North America. His ten-year investigation resulted in the three books of his ?mysterious valley? trilogy" and a book titled, "Stalking the Herd", which examines our relationship with cattle and how this has manifested into the modern ?cattle mutilation? mystery. We will discuss all of this and more on this special livestream episode where we'll also take your listener questions.

On episode 329 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES. Ryan is joined by former NYPD police officer, Dr. Keith Taylor. Taylor's professional experience includes twenty-five years in public service, starting with the NYPD and retiring as an assistant commissioner for the New York City Correction Department. He is currently a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. But he also has an interest in UFOs and recently attended the House Oversight UFO Hearing in Washington, D.C. We get an inside look at what went down at the hearing, Taylor's thoughts and theories on what was brought forward, and what happens next. He then explains how law enforcement can become a centralized and integral part of UFO reporting, data collection, and even investigation. As we navigate what a "post disclosure world" may look like, how will policy and law play into all of this?

On episode 326 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, Ryan heads to London for a very special one-on-one interview with actor, comedian, and writer, Michael Ian Black. Black is best known for being an original member of MTV's sketch comedy show, The State. He was also featured on Comedy Central's Stella, Viva Variety, and Reno 911. He also starred in the entire Wet Hot American Summer franchise and has traveled the world doing stand-up comedy. He's hosted several podcasts and has published numerous books. But recently, he's started writing extensively about UFOs on his Substack. So naturally, Ryan had to take advantage of Black's sabbatical in London. They talk about Black's personal UFO sighting, why his interest in the topic has re-emerged, and his thoughts on all the latest UFO revelations. It's a cosmic conversation with the OG M.I.B... Michael Ian Black!

On episode 323 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we welcome back Mike Damante to discuss his new book, Above the Fold and the Fringe: How UAPs Became Mainstream News, which goes behind the scenes of the infamous 2017 New York Times article and examines the history of UAPs in news media. Damante also explores the significant impact these stories have had on the public. With interviews from the journalists behind some of the biggest UAP stories like the New York Times' Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal, POLITICO's Bryan Bender, KLAS-TV's George Knapp, Popular Mechanics Tim McMillan, and others, Damante navigates how the news industry works and provides insight into some of the biggest UAP stories ever to be broken. Today, Damante breaks down the new world of UFO journalism, using as an example the latest bombshell article published by The Debrief, concerning an Intelligence official who claims the U.S. is in possession of "Non-Human" craft of "Unknown Origins."

On episode 320 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we travel to the small city of Winchester, England, to hear the incredible story of Joyce Bowles. In November of 1976, she and a friend were on the road, heading home. But then they witnessed something in the sky that soon descended directly in front of them. The story Joyce would tell of what happened that night would makes its way across the airwaves of BBC news not long after. And this would only be the beginning of a series of close encounters by Joyce and several other witnesses in the surrounding areas of Winchester.

In 1947, something crashed in the desert just outside Roswell, New Mexico. But there is a lesser-known crash that allegedly occurred in 1953 that rivaled the Roswell incident in scale, historic impact, and intrigue. This is the story of the UFO crash in Kingman, Arizona.

On episode 311 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we take a look back as ten UFO cases throughout history that remain unexplained even up until today. From UFOs colliding with a plane and then guiding it to safety in Mexico to U.S. Air Force personnel shooting and killing a runaway alien. From an extremely close encounter in the lavender fields of France to startling audio of police officers chasing down UFOs in Ohio. These are some of Ryan's favorite UFO cases, and may even be new to even some of the most seasoned of UFO enthusiasts. These are the Somewhere in the Skies case files.

On episode 310 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we are joined by Rob Kristoffersen, host of the Our Strange Skies podcast, and Todd Purse, artists and host of Creative Weirdos. Together, Rob and Todd have created the web-comic, "Welcome UFO People," where each monthly comic is devoted to true UFO, alien and cryptid encounters. We hear the story of the how and why the comic came to be, the research and creative process, and then they discuss each case they've covered so far. We also get a tease of what cases they'll be covering in the future, and why UFO case histories are a lost art in the current landscape of UFO discourse.

On episode 308 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we are joined by artist and researcher, Miguel Romero ("Red Pill Junkie") to discuss his essay, "Anarchy in the UFO!" - Expanding on the theories of Jacques Valle?e and John Keel, Miguel considers the possibility that UFO events may be the product of a trickster intelligence, anarchically prodding us to provoke individual and societal reactions and developments, highlighting that the UFO is a symbol of anarchist subversion in the modern world. What role does anarchy and the UFO play in today's move towards structured and establishment studies of the phenomena? Miguel also discusses his highly anticipated project, "The Ufology Tarot," and then answers your listener questions.

On episode 306 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we are joined by former U.S. Navy pilot, Lt. Cmdr. Alex Dietrich. On November 14th, 2004, during a training mission with the Navy's Nimitz Carrier Strike Group, Dietrich, along with several other pilots, intercepted and witnessed something unexplainable while flying over the Pacific Ocean. The mysterious object, now widely known as the "Tic Tac", made extraordinary maneuvers that left the pilots completely baffled. The object would subsequently be caught on camera by another pilot soon after, and the video would eventually be leaked to the NY Times. Since then, the Nimitz UFO encounter has become one of the most talked about UFO events in modern history. Today, Dietrich joins us to describe the event from her perspective, gives her thoughts on how we can move forward with the scientific study of UFOs, and then answers your listener questions.

On episode 303 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we are joined by Debrief contributing writer, Jazz Shaw, to discuss a mysterious incident tucked snugly into the Project Blue Book files known as "Incident 88". What was Jazz able to uncover in these files and was he able to track down one of its elusive witnesses? We then break down the 1994 Lakeshore, Michigan UFO event and a possible explanation for one of the most credible events in UFO history. Jazz then comments on the recent UFO image from Mosul, Iraq, released by Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp. We end the conversation with a tease of Jazz's next Debrief article he is working on, concerning the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (ARRO) and who may be working with this new office.

On episode 302 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we head to Brazil to explore the rich history of UFOs throughout the country. In June of 2022, the Brazilian Senate convened to hear testimony from its own military and government officials about UFOs. Also present were speakers from the United States and the United Kingdom. Throughout the course of the hearing, many UFO events were brought to light. We will explore several of these events, including sightings that were photographed off the coast of Trindade, which would be dubbed "UFO Island. We'll also hear of a string of mass UFO sightings known as the "The Night of the UFOs" and the investigation into these anomalous phenomena which would be officially investigated under the code name: Operação Prato (Operation Saucer).

In a special movie review episode, Ryan is joined by two of his closest friends and colleagues for another movie review! Returning to the show are television writer and filmmaker, Andrew Sanford, and actor/producer, Nick Westemeyer. The three discuss John Carpenter's 1982 classic sci-fi/horror film, "The Thing." Considering this film had somehow eluded Ryan as both a filmmaker and UFO researcher, it was about damn time he finally sat down to watch it. Join Ryan, Andrew, and Nick as they navigate their way through this cult-classic film where nothing is quite as it seems... and nobody and noTHING can be trusted as an alien threat invades not from above, but from within!
