With the announcement of Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, a new 2.5D side-scrolling Metroidvania, we saw an abundance of hate thrown towards 2D games online. The same was said when Metroid 5 Dread was announced. The argument being that 2D games aren't worth paying full price for.
