Once again, Gavin disappears into the woods at night. But this time a storm has moved in. While he's gone, Noah visits Delilah in her room. Delilah is suspicious of Gavin and wants to have a look around the woods. She goes exploring, even though Gavin doesn't approve. After Dee and Val fight over past issues, Val hikes off into the woods, leaving Dee alone and hurting. John only has one state left. But it's a long one. After turning his phone off for a week, he decides it's time to change things up. A large portion of the walk was spent dealing with the Chase/Liz situation. But not anymore. He's got a new backpack, new supplies, and a lot of time. He decides it's time to really experience the walk. And it's time for some fun. Well, it looked like things were over for John. But he got some unlikely help and now he's back on the road. After talking to his mom, John heads for the next town. He has decided to end the walk after losing all of his stuff. Chase and John have split up. Now John must travel alone. A week passes and he seems to be getting used to it. Once again things are awkward between John and Chase and John isn't exactly sure why. While resting on the side of the road in Tennessee, John thinks about screenwriting again. He tells Chase of a story that he wrote back in highschool. Maybe something he could eventually revisit? Things seem to be getting better... until the night they sleep outside a police station. Even with a black eye, John agrees to go out to eat with Chase, Kathy, and her husband. They hit up a small Mexican restaurant and talk about traveling. When Chase and John leave Salem, they head for Illinois, but a couple of narrow bridges proves to be a challenge to cross. Things continue to change for the group after their fight. After figuring out that Liz cheated, Chase confronts John, which leads to a long yelling match in the middle of Nebraska. Anders is becoming bored with the walk so the group decides to go to a local bar for jazz night. A couple days pass as the group waits out the snowstorm in a small hostel. They're able to find someone to drive them back to Rainy Pass so they can make-up their walk (No cheating!).
