As the rumbling tears through Stohess survivors argue over allegiance to Eren's plan. Hitch stumbles into a fight with Annie who's just emerged from four years in her crystal. In the aftermath of the rumbling the surviving Scouts are left to clean up the pure titans in Shiganshina. Conny captures Falco and runs off with him in an effort to restore his mother. Gabi searches desperately to rescue Falco; and in the process saves Kaya and the Braus family from a pure titan. Armin discovers that every form of titan hardening has been undone--not just the walls.

After exiting his father's memories, Zeke gives the command to sterilize the Eldians. Breaking from his chains, Eren runs to Ymir and sees the memories of her life long ago. He discovers she was an orphaned and enslaved child who obtained the first titan power by accident and became the Eldian weapon of war. She died protecting King Fritz, who ordered her children to eat her flesh. Ymir lives on in the plane where the paths and wall titans are formed. She eventually agrees to grant Eren her power and the rumbling finally begins.

Urokodaki explains the history of man-eating demons and the demon slayer corps--lead by a mysterious shadow ruler. With Nezuko in a coma, Tanjiro journals about the intense training he is undergoing. After a year of instruction, Urokodaki shows him a massive rock which must be cut in half in order to be eligible for final selection. He leaves after telling Tanjiro he can teach him nothing more. After 6 months of failed attempts, Sabito and Makomo, appear out of thin air to motivate and spar with Tanjiro. When he finally achieves success his two companions vanish as quickly as they appeared.

Tanjiro makes his way to the mountain to meet his trainer with his sister on his back in a makeshift basket. As night falls they encounter a demon inside a temple where it has just killed everyone inside.  Nezuko's powers help them incapacitate the demon while Tanjiro hesitates to kill it. Sakonji Urokodaki has doubts about Tanjiro's candidacy for the Demon Slayer Corps, but allows him to be tested nonetheless. After making his way through an a series of traps Tanjiro returns to find he's been accepted as a student. Giyu Tomioka's letter reveals that believes there's something truly special about these two young siblings.

Young Tanjiro, the oldest of his siblings, takes care of his family by working hard selling charcoal in his small town. One night on his way up the mountain he's warned be an elderly man, Saburo about man-eating demons who prowl at night. The next morning Tanjiro discovers his entire family has been killed except his sister, Nezuko. While on the road to find a doctor Nezuko becomes a demon and attempts to eat her brother. A mysterious demon slayer comes upon the scene to slay the girl. Queen Historia decides it's time to tell the truth to humanity within the walls about the Marleyean invasion and power of the titans. Floch, who attempted to save Commander Erwin, confronts the hard truth about Marlo's death and spars with Eren and Armin over their decisions in Shiganshina. During an award ceremony Eren kisses Historia's hand and has a titan memory about his father's visit to the the Reiss palace. He sees that his father pleaded with Freida to save the people. After all the titans are cleared Wall Maria is restored and the scouts go on an expedition to the sea. Along the way they find all the locations Eren saw in Grisha's memories as Eren declares that on the other side of the sea are enemies.

A young Grisha is punished for leaving the internment zone and his younger sister is killed by Marleyean security. Vowing to be more than his cowardly father Grisha is recruited into the Eldian Restorationist movement led by the Owl--a faceless operative deep within Marley's military.  Grisha meets and marries Dina Fritz, the last known royal on the continent, and bears his son Zeke. When the restorationists discover that they, and Marley, have the same goal of recovering the founding titan power within the walls, they volunteer their young son to become a warrior recruit. Zeke turns his parents into the authorities and the restorationists are all sent to become titans in Paradis. Eren awakens, crying in prison where he recalls the titan who ate his mother was once Dina Fritz. Grisha witnesses Kruger transform and destroy the Marleyean guard.

The remaining scouts surround Armin as he comes to consciousness and they explain to him the events of that day. Hange, Eren, Mikasa and Levi make their way to the basement recalling the horror of their childhoods in Shiganshina. In the basement they find a hidden compartment unlocked by Eren's key, containing three small books and a photograph with a note explaining that people outside the walls live in luxury. Nile tells the council about Erwin's theory of people beyond the walls. In the post credits we see a flying airship and a modern city where young Grisah Jeager and his sister, clad in armbands, begin to venture beyond the walls of the internment zone.

Zeke tells Eren their father lied and that he'll be back to rescue him. Hange, Jean and Mikasa attempt to take the Armored titan power when Reiner is suddenly saved by a mysterious Cart Titan who flees with their wounded bodies. Just as the decision is made to use the single titan serum injection on Armin, Floch appears with the mortally wounded Erwin. Levi changes his mind causing a emotionally charged fight between Mikasa, Eren and himself. With everyone else dismissed from the scene Levi attempts to inject Erwin who quietly refuses. Armin appears as a pure titan who consumes Bertholdt and emerges before his friends healed.

Floch and Hange head towards the sound of an explosion as Zeke's nearly dead body is placed inside a pure titan. Yelena holds the entire rest of the Paradise military as hostages marked with armbands according to their allegiance. In Jail, Connie and Jean ask Armin and Mikasa for answers about Eren. Yelena interupts and discloses the entire euthanization plan. Eren asks Gabi for help but is interrupted by Pieck who holds him at gunpoint, but then pledges her allegiance to the Jeagerists. She leads them to the roof to show her loyalty where Galliard bursts through the floor an attempts to eat Eren. Marleyean Airships converge on Shiganshina as Eren transforms ready for a fight with Reiner.

Zeke remembers his childhood beginning with the humiliation of his family outside Liberio. Struggling in his warrior training Zeke comes under immense pressure from his parents, Grisha and Dina Jeager, who see him as a tool for the restoration of Eldia. While the boy is stuck learning two conflicting Eldian histories, Tom Ksaver, the previous Beast Titan, befriends young Zeke through baseball. When Zeke learns that Marley is suspicious of his parents, Ksaver convinces him to turn his them in. Ksaver, near the end of his term tells Zeke about a special power of the founding titan to change Eldian anatomy. They form a plan to sterilize the entire Eldian race and rid the world of titans. Later on Zeke meets with Eren and they agree to move forward with the euthanization. Finally, Levi hears Zeke muttering part of his plan right before he pulls the pin on the thunder spear impaling his body.

Levi makes plans to kill Zeke after concluding he is the true enemy. Zeke runs and shouts turning 30 scouts into titans. In this 2 part series we follow a young Levi Ackerman stuck in the Underground City where lawlessness and criminals rule. Part of a young band of thieves who use stolen ODM gear, Levi and Farlan Church take in the animal-loving Isabel Magnolia after saving her from merchant thugs. A mysterious figure takes one of their allies hostage and convinces the trio to carry out a contract that will secure their citizenship above ground. They're eventually caught by a special band of scouts led by Erwin Smith who persuades them to join the military.

In part 2 Levi, Isabel and Farlan officially join the scouts with a mission to recover stolen documents and kill Erwin. Unable to find the documents the trio leaves on expedition outside the walls where they successfully take down three titans. When rain and heavy mist set in Levi leaves to find Erwin only to find an abnormal titan has demolished the scouts including his two comrades. After taking the titan down in a fit of rage Erwin confesses he knew of the assassination plot all along and convinces Levi to permanently join the scout regiment.

Zeke reveals how he's able to transform Eldians into pure titans and Levi receives news of Erens's escape. The Braus family arrive at the restaurant followed shortly by the scouts, who meet with a combative Nicolo refusing to serve them the wine reserved for the "high ranking officials." When Nicolo realizes Gabi is Sasha's killer he strikes Falco with the wine bottle and carries them both to Mr. Braus with a knife in hand. Mr Braus speaks eloquently on the cycle of violence and Nicolo confesses That Zeke's spinal fluid is in the wine. The stunned Gabi and Falco are whisked away by Mikasa and Armin when Eren shows up suddenly. Floch and the Jeagerists take Hange by force.

Armin and Hitch discuss Annie's crystal, the headlines concerning Eren's arrest, and the citizens surrounding military HQ demanding answers. Yelena admits to Pyxis she secretly met with Eren, and Onyonkapon tells Hange details about Yelena's radical past as a volunteer. After giving Mikasa and Armin orders not to talk to Eren, Premiere Zachary is assassinated with a bomb planted by young scout recruits. Eren escapes prison and meets up with Floch and another 100 other Jeagerists. Pyxis admits defeat and plans to negotiate with Eren and Pieck shows up in the heart of Paradis.

Gabi and Falco escape from prison. After running all night they're invited to breakfast by Kaya, an orphan who lives and works at Braus stables. Kiyomi Azumabito arrives in Paradis with an iceburst crystal powered flying boat. Hange is mobbed by justly concerned citizens right before she confronts and sentences Floch (and other loyalists) for leaking news of Eren's imprisonment. Kaya shows Gabi and Falco the village where her mother was eaten and begs the question why.  General Magath discovers Zeke's secret and announces the plan to invade Paradis in six months. However, the warriors insist a surprise counter-attack must happen now.

Kiyomi Azumabito arrives at the Port of Paradise where she reveals Mikasa's royal origins as a descendant of the shogun of Hizuru. She also discusses the terms of Zeke's secret plans for the rumbling and the scouts sort out who will inherit Eren's titan. Back in the present, we discover Historia is with child and Conny, Mikasa, Jean and Armin try sort out why Eren is no longer the Eren Jeager he once was.

Armin takes us back three years as he tells Annie, still in her hardened crystal, about the events leading up to the attack on Marley. We discover how Yelena and Onyankapon were defectors who offered to help the Eldians of Paradise. The leadership of Paradis read Zeke's plans to solve the Eldian problem by use of royal blood and the rumbling. Niccolo, a captured Marleyean, becomes sympathetic to the island of devils and mourns Sasha's death. Eren reveals his desire to use the rumbling renews his vow to fight.

Reiner, as the Armored Titan, goes down saving Porco and the Jaw Titan. Eren, Mikasa and the rest of the scouts make their escape on the airship where Eren is quickly detained and rebuked by Levi. Gabi chases after the airship on foot and is stopped by Falco who explains why the island devils attacked them. With a lucky shot, Gabi is able to commandeer ODM gear to board the airship where she shoots Sasha. Pieck recalls the solider who betrayed her as we discover Zeke is onboard the airship and in alliance with Paradis.

Zeke the Beast Titan and Pieck as the Cart Titan join the fight to defend Liberio. Falco emerges from the rubble having been saved by Reiner.  As ships full of troops enter Liberio's harbor, Armin unleashes the Colossal Titan's destruction. Hange directs the scout's airship escape plan as Jean, Sasha, Levi and Mikasa successfully take down the Beast and Cart Titans. Eren uses a limbless Jaw titan to crack open the crystal containing Lara Tybur and successfully acquires the War Hammer for himself. Hearing Gabi and Falco's desperate cries the Armored Titan appears to stop Eren from eating the Galliard as well.

Willy and Magath discuss their plans to bait out the expected attack from the Eldians and sell their crooked story to the world. Eren eats Willy Tybur and begins his rampage. The War Hammer Titan, possessed by Willy's younger sister, Lara, appears to do battle with the Attack Titan. Eren is caught in a trap conjured by the War Hammer and then saved by Mikasa's thunder spears. Magath commands a counter attack and our old favorite scouts, equipped with new ODM gear, lead the aerial assault on over the confident unsuspecting Jaw Titan.

In his theater show, Willy Tybur makes a tear-filled confession that that the common history of Elida and the Great Titan war is a sham. He claims King Fritz took a vow of peace and that Eren and his rebels are the new enemies of the world.. Meanwhile a trap is laid for Marley's warriors and Eren unleashes the Attack Titan on the unsuspecting crowd.

The most epic episode in all of Anime. Erwin and the scouts are slain by the Beast Titan in order to distract him while Levi uses a flanking maneuver to stage a close range attack. Levi defeats the Beast and captures Zeke, but then quickly loses him to the incoming quadruped  titan. The scouts inside the walls take on Reiner while Eren and Armin devise a plan to take down the Colossal Titan. Hange, back from the dead, assists Mikasa in defeating the Armored titan and capturing Reiner. Having sealed the hole in Wall Maria with his titan hardening, Eren surprises Bertholdt and cuts him from the nape of the Colossal. Afterwards he realizes that Armin sacrificed himself to win the fight.

Meanwhile Lord Tybur has a  secret meeting with Commander Magath around the statue of Helos, a storied Marleyean hero.  Mr. Jeager (Eren's grandfather) has an unnerving chat with Kruger about his past regrets. At an opulent dinner party the warrior recruits serve international guests as Willy Tybur announces his first ever theater performance where he will reveal his plans to create peace between the world and the Eldians. Finally, Reiner is beckoned to a basement by Falco where he comes face to face with Eren after four years.

Reiner recalls his childhood where we discover his desire to become Marleyean. He is despised as the weakest  warrior recruit by Galliard and openly rejected by his father. He learns during the mission to invade paradise he was never meant to wield the Armored Titan and declares himself the de facto leader when Marcel is eaten. Reiner pulls back from a suicide attempt placing hope in the new warrior recruits. Finally, a familiar looking wounded solider has a heart-to-heart with Falco.
