As with all things, it is not the thing itself that carves our experience of reality, but rather how we approach those things. Rules and regulations can be confining and restrictive, as well as empowering and liberating. As we mature, we are invited to go beyond the letter of the law, which at one time was as deep as we could go, to a deeper understanding to the intent and purpose of the rules we have adopted as our rule of life. i

Swami Padmanabha and friends discuss some ruling principles which are promoted in contemporary Vaishnava communities, offering different perspectives and a deep reach of these principles giving rise to freedom in our spiritual practice.

Since freedom is a pivotal point in all aspects of spirituality, we must approach rules in such a way that they facilitate freedom.
