Sometimes when we become complacent or stagnant, a catastrophe comes knocking on our door to shake us out of the concrete we have embedded ourselves in. This does not come as a punishment but as a gift, grace, in response to our desire for a relationship with God. He removes things from our life to make room to receive God’s presence more deeply—to develop deep trust and faith in God’s dancing in our life and to acknowledge and accept his invitation to that dance. We have to trust that he is doing his part, and we have to do ours. And our part is to commit to our potential; not what we are now but what we can be in our fullest relation to each other, the world, and the center to all relation—God.
