With Richard on the lam (or perhaps, as the team muses, at a Scottish day spa with the family and farm animals), Ariel hosts this week's aBlogtoWatch Weekly show, flanked, as always by David and Ripley. They get right down to it with a discussion of a trend in watch world: coffee table books. They flip through the pages of several new releases and ponder their respective audiences. Switching gears, the guys discuss the new Breitling Chronomat NFL Collection watches and express some awe around the partnership itself. Next up is a deep dive into yet another collab: the Marathon 41mm Jeep Willys SSGPM Officer's Mechanical watch. (David wishes the new Jeeps were as sturdy as this watch!) They move on to Mike's review of an elegant worldtimer by Andersen Genève, and then Omega's new Seamaster Regatta America's Cup, which Ariel deems "not pretty but cool." On the other side of the spectrum, the team discusses Hamilton's Khaki Field Murph 38mm watch with a white dial, followed by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Artistical Calibre 184. Even in Rick's absence, Ariel decides to play Guess the Price of the Seiko, with the watch in question being the Presage Craftmanship Series Urushi Lacquer SPB227, a classic design with a twist. (Ripley had to recuse himself because he wrote the article and knows the price.) The show ends with a reflection on Ariel's column about what to expect when you buy a luxury watch.
