Pray for Your Enemies?

Pray for our Enemies? Love Our enemies? How... How?
Last week, I was literally feeling persecuted against for my beliefs. It happens a lot to me, I’m very bold about my faith and my relationship with Christ. I don’t get preachy but I definitely don’t shy away from the subject. 

I was carrying a cute little chip on my shoulder like a badge of honor. Hah, I’m being persecuted against, Jesus said this would happen:

Matthew 5: 11-12
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
I was literally walking around full of pride over this encounter. 
And then, God served up a giant steaming humble pie into my lap with a verse that follows later on in that same chapter:
"Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.”
