Roughly halfway through the pregnancy of their second child, Blake and Erin Hamby were told by doctors that, due to severe internal complications, there was a zero percent chance that their baby would live. What they didn’t know was that God had spoken to Erin, and He had told her something different. Today’s conversation with Blake Hamby is about faith. Especially when faced with the impossible.

This episode is a continuation of our conversation with Kirk and Christy East. In the first part of this conversation (Episode 94, Death, Where Is Your Sting?) Kirk and Christy detailed how the events surrounding the loss of their son, Frank, re-shaped their understanding of God and His presence in their lives. Though Frank was terribly ill, they exhibited extraordinary faith in Frank’s healing, and even in his resurrection after he had passed, because they believed that God intended it. What they got was the gift of a deep assurance of Frank’s presence in Heaven through multiple unrelated sources. If you haven’t listened to last week’s episode yet, I encourage you to do so. On August 5, 2021, Frank East passed away at the young age of 21 after battling a bizarre, aggressive cancer for a year and a half. Throughout the battle, his family, especially his parents Kirk and Christy, believed that God would fully heal him, even preparing to pray for resurrection. What they got has filled their future with peace and hope, and robbed death of its sting.

Over the years we’ve had the opportunity to hear some amazingly powerful accounts of God’s activity in the modern world. As the podcast gains new listeners we want to occasionally re-air some of our more powerful conversations, not just for newer listeners, but for God to speak to all of us through the telling of these experiences of His presence. As this is the first time we’ve done this, we felt it appropriate to re-release the story that God initially used to inspire the creation of this podcast. It’s a 2-part conversation that details the miraculous events that transpired to save Kennedy’s life in part 1, and the amazing near death experience Kennedy revealed in part 2. On June 15, 2000, four year old Kennedy Buettner’s lifeless body was pulled from the bottom of a swimming pool by a group of young boys at a summer pool party. What constitutes a miracle? We tend to consider something a miracle if there is no possible explanation to be found in the natural world for an event that has occurred.  Anne Bugg and her son Thomas believe they experienced a miraculous stage 4 cancer healing in Thomas through a series of interventions, and provision that they believe could only have been orchestrated by God.

In June of 2022, Thomas Bugg, at just 22 years old was shockingly diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma that included a 11.8 cm tumor in his chest. Some powerful prayer intercessors immediately began praying God’s promises found in scripture over Thomas and his family, including anointing him with oil and the laying on of hands in prayer. From that time on, critical pieces of the puzzle of healing began falling into place, including the timely approval of a new drug treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma just the day before Thomas was to begin his treatment. Eight months later the tumor was gone and Thomas was cancer free. Is this a case of medical science coming through, or is it the miraculous hand of God?

Today’s episode is part 2 of our conversation with deliverance minister Pete Browder. This conversation aims to help inform our listeners about the truth of demonic oppression and deliverance from that oppression to spiritual freedom. When we think of deliverance from demonic oppression, it seems like we think of people overrun with or fully possessed by demons. I think we think of the movie The Exorcist with the bloody-faced, demon-eyed, clearly possessed girl whose head spins completely around on her body, or death metal music lovers bent on violence and anything anti-God, or people involved in the occult. We may even think about the demon-possessed man in scripture who lived in the tombs, wore no clothes, broke shackles he had been chained with, and cut himself with stones until Jesus delivered him and cast the demons into a herd of pigs. I think those are all very dramatic examples of demonic possession and there’s lots of evidence that those things still happen today. But there are also instances in scripture where demons manifested themselves as an inability to speak, blindness, seizures, illnesses, or other less aggressive actions. We often speak of that as demonic oppression vs. demonic posession. Jesus healed and cast out demons that plagued people with a word, and from seemingly everyday, non-satanic people. He even gave that ability to many of His followers who rid scores of people from illnesses and apparently the demonic oppressors behind those illnesses. Could it be that demonic activity is much more common in the lives of good, everyday, Christian people and not necessarily confined to rare occurrences of people involved in satanic practices? Today’s guest is a long-time, successful CEO and business owner who 14 years ago felt strongly called by God to also be an agent for demonic deliverance. In this series, Pete Browder hopes to remove some of the mystery and fear behind demonic oppression, and share his insightful experiences in deliverance ministry so that more people can experience God more fully through freedom from things they may not have fully understood before.

Like a large percentage of Christians today, Ken and Janell Urban were what’s known as cessationists, meaning that they had been taught and believed that God used miracles, prophetic gifts, and healings in the early days of the church as a launching point for the Christian faith, but that those things ceased as the apostles died off. Ken and Janell Urban were cessationists, until each of them experienced what they believe were their own supernatural healings which subsequently led them to actively pursue the truth of God’s presence and ultimately look to become agents of God’s healing of others in this world. Fame at the age of 21 pulled Nathaniel Blackburn into a life that filled all of his sensual and ego-driven desires. And lacking any sort of true understanding of God, it easily lead him toward destruction through addiction and the real possibility of suicide. So how does God pull someone like that into connection with Him and ultimately into a ministry? That’s what Nathaniel and I talk about today.

At 21 years old and a fourth-year student at Virginia Military Institute, Nathaniel Blackburn found fame when he became a cast member for MTV’s The Real World: Seattle in 1998. His celebrity brought temptations that were too great to manage and spiraled him into a life of addiction that cost him everything. Robby Seidel had the hand of God reach down and give him an experience of such profound magnitude, that it changed his life forever, and set him and his wife Correll on a path of purpose that fills their souls. Today, they share their incredible story.

Robby and Correll Seidel lost their sixteen year old daughter, Kaitlin to sudden cardiac arrest on July 30, 2006 just three weeks after she had committed her life to Christ at a Young Life Camp in Colorado. In their grief and healing, they were invited back to the very camp on year later to retrace Kaitlin's footsteps.
