Today’s episode reviews an article by Fabrizio Ferri-Benedetti entitled "Should You Write Documentation Differently for LLMs?" that was published on January 24, 2025.
Hosts Daphne and Fred share their spirited analysis of this helpful article from Ferri-Benedetti that compares the current focus on writing for AI large language models (LLMs) with the search engine optimization (SEO) craze that consumed IT and marketing departments over the past decade.
Ferri-Benedetti says that technical writers should "write for humans, let the AIs follow." He says that semantics and metadata should be employed to improve both the user experience and also the ability of LLMs to leverage the content.
