This episode covers the cultural context from which The Last House On The Left emerged. Taking a step back from the creative process of the film, we explore the national fears and broken dreams that inspired it.

We will also begin to break down a discussion about post-modernism in horror. Using Dr. Isabel Pinedo’s article “Recreational Terror: Postmodern Elements of the Contemporary Horror Film,” we look at how Craven’s film signified a permanent change for the genre.
