Every week we Interview a Top Performing 40k Player from a recent tournament!
We produce a two part show every single week.
In the first segment Warhammer 40k legend Nick Nanavati, introduces you to the player who has been performing notably well in the competitive Warhammer 40k tournament scene. You will learn about what makes them tick, their story, their practice, their play style, and how they win.
During the second segment Nick Nanavati puts his critical analysis to the test, and he works with the guest to unpack the specific list which they used to achieve glory. All of the strategies, tactics, and in game movements to actually win the games REVEALED!
The second part is for our patrons who we love dearly.
Subscribe today to listen to both parts of the podcasts via Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/aow40k) with the Competitive 40k network, and make sure to listen to all the free part ones where ever you get your podcasts!

Adam reels in three juggernauts from the LGT this past weekend, with 2nd place Brian Seipp, and top ten finishers Innes Wilson and David Gaylard.
We have an awesome chat about the event, what is working amazingly well and anything they'd like to see change, their trials and victories, discussing the meta and analysing some of the pretty wild finishes for some very obscure factions.
Hope you enjoy!

Greetings Soup enjoyers. Games Workshop threw us a curveball by making Imperial Soup it's very own Codex, in a very strange way. This is a pretty dang unique book that has some really really bad portions that don't really make sense by todays measuring sticks, but also some shining jewels and spicy that i think will take many by surprise!
I am joined by Jeremy Martino of Team Australia for the review, as he promised. It's a very good time and we really do take our time, getting 2 hours of hardcore review content from what many believed to be a hollow book.
Hope you love it!

Hello lovely people this week i get my mad lad Matt Morosoli on to assist me in unpacking 3 nations of note at the WTC this year. We go through each list with as fine a tooth comb as we can, detailing what it's good/bad into, divining the purpose of it in said 8-player lineup and anything else we can conjure.
We deep dive into Team Poland, the reigning defending WTC champs of 2023, Team Norway who were Best Sports in 2023 and Team USA who many believe are favourites to win in 2024!
Some bad takes are bound to happen on this one as WTC is a place of smoke and mirrors list construction wise so please be gentle with us!
Hope you enjoy the hell out of it though.

This week we are joined by Alex Englezos, Art of War Coach and Admech faction expert! We review all the changes the adeptus mechanicus underwent in the 10.5 changes and give them the once over.
Alex is a wealth of knowledge and totally in tune with his machine spirit, as demonstrated by the mathematical answers to so many questions. Truly a sight to behold.
Stick around for the new outro, a son by my brothers band!
In this new and exciting time for warhammer 40k we interview long time Drukhari master and Art of War Coach Archon Skari. Nick and Skari break down the changes from the Minotorum Field manual, the Balance Dataslate, and how he plans to build lists in the new meta.
In part two of the show, available to our patrons we talk about the list and its various play by plays into theoretical matchups. Join us for this wonderful exercise in army list construction!

G'day beautiful peoples here is this weeks episode. The amazing Nathan Roberts joins us for a review of the Core Rules Changes in this here 10.5 Edition.
As Nathan is a Tyranids Faction specialist i thought it prudent to get some goodness from him on that front, his thoughts on the changes and where he see's them going from here! Especially seeing as he just went 4-1 at Glasshammer GT the day prior to the recording.
Hope you love the episode!

Hello lovely people. Apologies for the late episode but I and my guest Matt Morosoli were struck down with the Con-Crud post Terracon so this episode was recorded when we felt well enough to do so.
This week we review the brand new missions for 40k goodness from the Pariah Nexus deck, in full. We discuss the changes to Actions, Stratagem use and the incentives for us players to start stacking up more Battleline in those lists!
Two weeks ago we had the pleasure of attending the first ever Warhammer exhibition tournament at Dreamhack, an esports convention! 4 different teams faced off in a round robin to determine the champion. This week we have veteran member of United Midwest Project, Ben Cherwein on to talk about his new Warp Talon packed Chaos Space Marine army. Ben performed incredibly well this weekend and we go over his list and his strategies and preparation for the event.
In part 2 of this episode we talk about Ben's match ups from the tournament. We dive into niche plays, positioning, and different approaches to different problems. We go over his matchups in detail. Dustin Henshaw joins me to review all that is great about the four armed emperor in this new codex. The good, bad and otherwise!
This past weekend we had the pleasure of attending the first ever Warhammer exhibition tournament at Dreamhack, an esports convention! 4 different teams faced off in a round robin to determine the champion. This week we have veteran member of Protabletop, Walter Langendorf on to talk about his unorthodox approach to the game and Necron army. Walter completely smashed it this weekend and we go over his list and his strategies, both on and off the table.

Hello lovelies, this week I record two poignant segments, first up is with the Scared One himself Skari, who as a faction specialist is an expert on adapting and countering the meta.
Second segment is with one of the great minds of 40k, Pumba of Team Poland, who captained his nation to victory at the WTC last year.
We talk how to counter and work into a hostile meta, adapting and identifying ways to eke back a bit of value when times are tough.
Hope you love it!

Hello everybody! Here we have the brand new (maligned) golden banana codex review. Unfortunately Jack was waylaid at an event so the lovely John Legend joined us for this review. But fear not, after pioloting custodes at the WTC level John is well placed to pick up the slack.
This is not a good book, either internally or external balance wise. But we do our best to polish this one up for hopefully a truthful but overall good listening experience.
Love you all
Adam

After 8ish months, the Aeldari index is in somewhat of a stable place and I felt it was time to dive into what was once the literal powerhouse of 10th edition and is still packing some amazing potency and dynamics on the tabletop.

Hello everybody. This week I had the pleasure of reviewing my Main Squeeze, the Darkest of Angels. And straight up it was very hard to stave off the disappointment.
I was joined by John Lennon for the review as we are both passionate as all hell about this faction and we did our best to keep things positive, in the face of a faction that has seemingly lost it's mojo.
Let's hope we are all wrong and some amazing build can be discovered in here but enjoy!
Love Adam
G'day everyone, welcome to this weeks show where myself and Peter the Falcon discuss the state of the great game of 40k, we talk LVO meta, what needs to change in the next balance slate and tons of other nonsense. Enjoy!
This week the man with the finest name in all of 40k, Dick Van Der Harst, joins me to review the spikiest of robots, the Chaos Knights!
It's an exceptionally awesome index, some say propped up by how good just a few datasheets are, with weak army and detachment rules but absolute game changing stratagems it's a joy to unpack!
Happy New Year one and all! Kicking off this year with the bloodiest of mad lads, Anthony Vanella, who joins us to break down his breakout performances with the World Eaters Index.
Hello you wonderful community you, happy holidays!
This week i am joined by Skari and the Dusty one to discuss the year that was, what we loved and loathed, highs and lows and much more!
I know this time of year can be rough for many, so this weeks ep is coming out a day early, in hope that if everything else is going rough out there for you, hopefully the lads and I can bring you a bit of joy <3
Part 2 is free this week for all! Hope it brings you some laughs and joy this time of year. <3 <3
Adam is joined by Peter the Falcon to update the 40k Competitive Faction Ladder for the end of 2023!

That's right people, it's time for the canticles of the omnissiah to be chanted and the rites completed. The Adeptus Mechanicus Codex has arrived.
I am joined by Aussie Legend Alexander Englezos for the review, this is a book with some spice but lacks depth overall, some very promising detachments and rules but overall the datasheets may be letting it down. Hope we left you with some great ideas moving forward!
Delayed episode this week as Liam Hackett and I eagerly awaited the points drops before recording! But here it is, the Metal Men Codex Review.
For the first time this edition we have seen the index playbook completely re-written in the codex form, as the Necrons morph from a durability check silver tide into a multi faceted faction with depth and detachments.
Hope you enjoy the journey! Part 2 should be out this time tomorrow! Apologies for the delay in release, life gets in the way sometimes.
<3 Adam
Hello everyone! This week we check in with the dusty ones all thousand of them.
I am joined by Brian Seipp. Who at the time of this podcast release has just finished playing this faction at the world championships of whammer!
Hope you all caught some of the coverage and enjoy the show!
This week I am joined by a gent who Captained Team America, won Nova Open and invitationals and was one of THE names in 40k during the erstwhile days when I was first sinking my teeth into comp 40k, Andrew Gonyo!
We disseminate the World Champs of Warhammer coming up this week, discuss the event, pod format and then go through each group chatting about what factions are present and the whose who of top players attending (all of them are top players tbf).
Hope you enjoy the listen!
This week I am joined by an incredible pairing of Australian Champions with Chris Wright and Matt Morosoli jumping in to discuss the missions of 10th edition. Unlike our usual review format this is a bit more relaxed and we discuss the state of things from an overall point of view, rather than reading out each in turn.
Hope it is a refreshing change of pace for you all and thanks for the amazing support.

This week we cover one of the rising stars of the meta, the mighty sisters of battle. I am joined by lovely gents Mitch Beard and Scott Ketcham for the venture into the depths of the Minisotrum.
We get stuck into our usual review process but highlight the things that are causing a resurgence in the faction post-dataslate and why you shouldn't be napping on the nuns.
With the greenskins in the zenith this time of year, we looked to their index for some inspiration for a hopeful resurgence in competitive play!
I am joined by Lukas Troller and Tyler Russo for the review, and amazingly these men represent the Gork and Mork facets of the book perfectly, bringing both kunnin and brutal insights to the review.
Hope you love it! Please go and support these fine big un's over at:

Adam is joined by Aiden Smalley the plague lord of the current meta to review the stanky Death Guard Index. This really was a case of decent rules being wielded by pretty rough datasheets prior to the balance data slate which has re-invigorated the faction and allowed them to actually content with the top of the meta game.
Aiden was an absolute gent on the podcast and a venerable wealth of knowledge. Hope you go and give him some love over at the disgustingly resilient podcast!
Week two of the spicy new space marine codex concludes with the boy king John Lennon himself joining us for another episode!
We break down the remaining 3 detachments in depth and discuss the notable datasheets!
This episode was recorded prior to the points updates also, so please keep that in mind.
Hope you enjoy!
The God Emperor has bestowed on us a new Marines Dex with 6 (Gladius doesn't count) brand new ways to field our beloved and totally entirely maligned (sarcasm) faction.
I am joined by the WMD of Australian 40k Big Will Milton (Big Willy M) for the first week of the review! We chat all things marines and pontificate on the viability of the first 3 detachments, in addition to the changes to Oaths of Moment.
Regardless of the changes and loss of some units I am crazy excited by this codex and the depth of unit choices it brings to my beloved faction.
I hope you are too
G’day there all you humanoid beings, this week the stunties express their displeasure and get upon the grudging. We are reviewing the Votann Index with amazing Aussie lad Oliver Johnson!
Oli J/OJ is a wealth of knowledge having gone 6-2 with the short kings pre balance slate and is well and truly devoted to these mining magnates.
Welcome one and all to another amazing faction ladder episode! Peter the Falcon is back in the hot seat to give us the low down on where your faction resided during the pure Index portion of 10th edition 40k!
There is a lot here that is expected and known but legitimate surprises too. So wet a brush or prime those mini's cos 10th edition is just getting started.
Oh boy, it feels like 10th edition just started with the holistic shakeup brought upon by this week's balance dataslate.
I am joined by the wonderful Matt Morosoli for the review and he and I walk through all the changes coming down the pipe.
There is a lot and we tried to cover everything we could think of at the time and speak to our thoughts on the points changes for each faction.
Hope you enjoy!
NEW Balance Dataslate with Quinton Johnson
Here it is! The very first codex review of 10th edition!
I am joined by the amazing duo of John Lennon and Matt Robertson! These two legendary gents steer me and you through this first look at what we can expect from 10th edition moving forward!
It's an interesting thing to unpack, with essentially all the rules 'siloed' into the detachments, making things easier to balance for sure, but you feel somewhat forced into certain builds and even hard skews at times. Regardless of that this thing has play and lots of it Can't wait to see what the hive minded out there make of it!
Another week, another fabulous guest joining us to break down an index.
This week we are joined by the archon formerly known as Skari, now going by Overlord Skari, Ridvan Martinez!
He is a faction specialist with all the tricks in his bag, the knowledge and the passion. Hope you enjoy our take as we work our way through this index. It seems to be one with fantastic rules, but possibly lacking a depth of units with which to weild them,
Apologise for the late release this week, hope you are all well and happy!
This week I arrived home and immediately hit up Pumba and Majson of Team Poland who won the World Team Championships this last week. We discuss the event in depth, their preparation, list and lineup construction and their run to the top spot!
These two gentlemen are connoisseur of team 40k and exemplify everything awesome about the format.
So I hope you enjoy this lengthy discussion and join me in conratulating Team Poland in their victory!
I am homeward bound from the WTC but the content train cannot be stopped!
This week Sam Procopio joins me to dissect the Thirst and Rage bound Blood Angels Index. This is uhhh not the nicest meta for the loyalist red angry boi's but we try to stay positive and keep the conversation to where the good stuff resides!
Hope you enjoy.
Hello wonderful people, this week i am very excited to have my first ever South African player on the show. He is representing his nation THIS WEEK in the WTC in South Africa's first ever attendance at the event. So all things I (and hopefully you) are super passionate about.
His name is Kyle MacKintosh and as you have read above he is pioloting the pretty darn solid Necrons. Not only is Kyle a mad lad but he knows his stuff so strap in for another awesome review and chat.

Hello lovely ones. This week Jaime joins me as I bring you the finest most best legion (totally just chapter strength) in the galaxy! The Dark Angels.
This is an interesting chapter, even if i wasn't a total DA Stan, with many unique units and not without some spicy tech in their own detachment, Jaime helps me break it all down and give you guys what you need to know when vsing the unforgiven on the tabletop!
Alex Englezos Teaches us How to Play for Secondaries First
Hello lovely ones, this week the amazing and i guess handsome Jaime Paris joins me from the Wolf Council to disseminate what is great and what is lacking about the totally not mutated Space Wolves!
I caveat this episode with it having been recorded prior to the Balance Slate.
Jaime is an amazing gent and one I truly enjoy spending time with. We hope you enjoy spending this time with us also, regardless of the good, bad or otherwise <3
The UNDEFEATED Death Guard Player Aiden Smalley
Here we are with another index review, this time the hammer of the imperium, Imperial Guard are getting their due. I am joined again by David Gaylard after coercing him to join me for the Marines review a few weeks back!
This episode was uploaded prior to the current balance slate by GW so some of the points discussed are incorrect, but none of the archetypes have changed in our estimation and the info and units we highlighted are still top shelf.
Make sure you go check out 40k Fireside (youtube.com/@firesidepodcast997)for some awesome competitive content!
Nick and Typhus Talk About the World Team Championships
The time of the uprising is nigh! Innes Wilson is here to lead the rabble to recursion based glory! As waves after waves of his own people are fed into the jaws of the opponents guns, clogging them with their carcasses so that victory can be achieved.
We review the GSC codex in all its myriad cults! Then disseminate the datasheets of renown that you will face across the table or wield in their own right.
Hope you love it!
Nick interviews Thomas Byrd THE Best Sportsman
This week we cover the Vanilla Ice Cream of the 41st Millenium (it's always good and has many combo's). I am joined by David Gaylard of the New Zealand WTC team and 40k Fireside Podcast for the review, making me the uhhh Marine expert I guess (terrifying thought).
We review those rules and dive deep into the most powerful and some sleeper units within!
Kalvin Kirchbaumer Tells us About Being a Judge in 10th Edition
The 10th ed index reviews are coming thick and fast over here, with Daemons coming up for your viewing pleasure!
I am joined by the Plague Hulk himself, Australia's finest athlete, Matt Morosoli for the review! We deep dive these here gods of the warp and dissect the goodness therein.
This index review was recorded prior to points being released, so apologies if a few opinions have been invailidated.
Nick Nanavati's interview with Andrew Gonyo.
With the votes in the Tyranids Index won out by just a handful! So here we have the first faction specific review for 10th edition and i was super exicted to be joined by Stuart Trainer, hot off his 2nd place finish at Terracon.
We go through the rules extensively and ask some dumb but pointed questions of Stu to get to the bottom of things! After the rules we deep dive into some of the notable and or spicy datasheets that Stuart things look the goods!
Hope you enjoy!
First episode of the run away train that will be our 10th edition coverage. This epsidoed i am joined by John Lennon who brings all the need to know info on this edition. I learned a heap also, so hope you do too!
Interview with Joel Ong, the Analytical Mastermind
Last on the 9th ed retrospectives we have Vik Vijay and David Gaylard joining us from 40k Fireside and team Ignite!
This week we close out the edition with 2 amazing interviews. Firstly with Innes Wilson and Anthony (Tony V) Vanella from Stats Check and following that my lovely lad Jay Middlecote (Juicy Middlecote) from Mohawk Minitatures gives us the perspective of a top WTC Judge on adjudicating the edition at the highest level.
AoW Ep. 191 - Part 1: Interview with Eric Forsman the Force of Nature
On this weeks fare we are joined by two Aussie Luminaries, Jeremy Marigold and Matt Morosoli, to discuss this 9th edition of 40k as a Whole!
We break down our own journeys through the edition, ask some pointed questions of each gent and detail the ups and downs we went through, especially noting the impact the pandemic had on our ability to play down under.
Expect more of the same next week with guests from all over the world having their say on this edition!
Hope you love it.
Part 1 Fluffy Ultramarine Player Wins Major Event! Interview with Kasra Houshidar.
Hello you short kings, it's time to look back on one of the most controversial factions of this 9th edition, the Leagues of Hecaton, I mean Votann!
For this part 1 episode I am joined by Danny Porter of UK and now Polish fame!
He is a powerhouse of Votann knowledge, so strap in and hear this wild tale, of a codex so wild, they had to nerf it before it was even opened by the playerbase!
This week Dean Sinnbeck from Blog for the Blood God joins us to do the CSM codex retrospective. This thing could have been a long as hell episode due to how thick this codex is, but thanks to dean we get all the goodness and none of the bloat.
Hope you enjoy!
Hello one and all! We are doing another retro, expect nothing less until the new edition lays itself upon us.
This week we jump over the CSM Codex and head to the warp for the Chaos Daemons retrospective, joined by the Plague Hulk himself Matt Morosoli.
Matt and I have a great time discussing this book at length, what has made it such a contender in many meta's and given it depth, despite relatively constrictive detachment and army rules.
Hope you love it!
Here he is, Big Willy M. Make it stick people.
But this episode we cover the less spikey version of the big stompy boys, the Imperial Knights. This is an amazing albeit very solved book with so much depth we never got to see, thanks to the Freeblade Lance in most part.
I hope you all enjoy the show! Willy M is an amazing guest and it was my pleasure to have him on and dive into one of my favourite books of this edition!
Back to the retrospective train and we are here with possibly my favourite codex of the edition! My only regret is i discovered it too late.
But I am joined by the Reigning Defending Undisputed kind of the Art of War House, John Lennon, who crushed all opposition with said spikey robots. We talk what we love about this book and cover as much as we can fit between bouts of passionate tirade.
Hope you enjoy!
Hello everyone! It's that time of the quarter where gw does their thing and shifts the landscape a bit.
This week I was joined by lovely Art of War team member Quinton Johnson. We dissect this slate and give it the going over. It's a good slate and a good time.
This week I get two Australian mad lads on to discuss the state of the competitive scene down under so far in 2023. Dineeth from The Normal Blokes and Sam Lemin of the brand new World of Warhammer podcast!
We dive into one of the most complex and unique (of course i'd say this) meta's in the world and get some insights from a few of it's most active participants.
Then we chat 10th edition and our feelings so far!
The train has no brakes on our journey to completing the retrospective series. This week we stop by THE STRONGEST (busted) CODEX of the edition (arguably) with the Tyranids.
I am joined by Hive Mind wonder boy Alex MacDougall who helps me negotiate this heavily hitting dex. It has had a fair few iterations and many meta shifts and according to Alex, its death has been premature.
It's time to complete the clown half of the Aeldari Codex Retrospective!
I am joined by the Clown King himeself Mike Porter to disseminate and give the retro look at this crazy as all crazy codex!
We do the usual, look through all the major sections of the book and put our thoughts on them, how they were on release and how good they are now. Mike is a total gent and was an absolute pleasure to have on the show.
This week we managed to actually get some things back on the optimum track with a faction ladder update episodes 3 months apart!
Peter The Falcon joins us to shine a light on these first few months of Arks of Omen and disseminate the lump of data being harvested from games around the globe! There are a few suprises and a fair few 'just as planned.'
Hello everyone! This week I was grateful to be joined by the lovely Thomas Byrd and Ben Jurek to disseminate and discuss the state of the Xenos Superfaction. That being those defined by GW as Orks, Votann, Tau and Necrons.
We look at each of these factions in turn, give expert advice where we can and look at their prospects in the Arks of Omen field. It's a great time with two awesome gents.
We hope you enjoy!
This week we look back on the Craftworld or Asuryani portions of the Aeldari book in this Codex Retrospective! I am joined by absolute gentleman and top UK ITC player Vik Vijay!
Vik lead the way almost all of last ITC season and Asuryani is his first love. He brings the passion and the knowledge to compliment this episode perfectly.
Hope you enjoy!
Go over and check out more of Vik at https://www.youtube.com/@firesidepodcast9977
This week we join you from the Cherokee open where I canvassed some luminaries of the scene for their takes on the new mission pack!
I compiled 4 interview segments with various players/personalities at Cherokee Open and slapped them together for your pleasure. We talk Arks, meta, state of the community and much more.
The format is a bit different as I was passing my headset back and forth, please forgive any audio issues therein. And thanks to all my amazing patrons for the slick questions!
This week we are joined by two of the unsung heroes of the Stats Check team Cliff and Jeremey!
We talk the future of stats, what they do that is new or different and give you a little guide of how to navigate their amazingly innovative Meta Dashboard.
