This weeks episode of Ask Dr Jessica is joined by a pediatric hematologist, Dr Gavin Roach. Hematologist are doctors that specialize in disorders of the blood. In this episode, Dr Roach explains what are the most common reasons why people visit a hematologist. Gavin D. Roach, MD, MS, is an attending physician at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and the Medical Director of the Thrombosis Program at Seattle Children’s. Prior to working in Seattle in 2021, he had previously been on faculty at UCLA (2014-2021). While at UCLA, Dr. Roach was the Director of Pediatric Hematology and oversaw the treatment of all patients with benign hematologic disorders in inpatient and outpatient settings. He served as the Program Director of the Fellowship Training Program in pediatric hematology/oncology and was involved with medical education at all levels of medical training.
Dr Jessica Hochman is a board certified pediatrician, mom to three children, and she is very passionate about the health and well being of children. Most of her educational videos are targeted towards general pediatric topics and presented in an easy to understand manner.
