Aussie and the Scotsman talk movies

Jaws.

33 min • 31 januari 2025

This week we review the 1974 American thriller film Jaws directed by Steven Spielberg.

One of Spielberg early thrillers and wow - if you've seen it you know.

This is about a man-eating great white shark terrorising and chomping beachgoers at a summer resort town.

And if you're like the Scotsman it might have put you off ocean swimming for life. 10mins after swimming in the ocean he  always hears that famous John Williams 2-note theme tune.....da dum.....da dum.....da dum da dum dadummmm...

When Spielberg films the swimmers legs from the murky depths of the water this scares the living hell out of the Scotsman - 40 years after he first watched it and he tells a story at the start about the time he did a shark dive.

We talk about Mick Fanning (sorry for calling you Mike on the podcast a few times Mick) and his shark attack -  and bizarrely the Aussie compares the shark scene to a scene in Happy Days?

The Scotsman burts into song.........and the Aussie realises he may not like the ocean as much as he once did.

Do you know this overtook The Godfather in the highest box office takings?

An all time Spielberg classic.

Highly recommend watching.
