Our names are Jes and Casey and we’re just two 20-somethings that love horror and all things spooky. We’ll be doing movie reviews of all types of horror, old and new, as well as some other types of media and games! We’re so excited to be able to share our thoughts with you on the things that helped make us who we are today. New episodes every Saturday! Stay Spooky, byeeee!
The podcast Barely Living Dread Girls Podcast is created by Casey & Jes. The podcast and the artwork on this page are embedded on this page using the public podcast feed (RSS).
Coming at you with several weeks of Kathryn Newton movies, starting with Lisa Frankenstein! We both loved this movie and we hope you do too!
Monster Movie March Madness continues this week with 2020’s Kristen Stewart driven Underwater. This movie is honestly (and a little unexpectedly?) terrifying! With or without thalassophobia, so many of this scenes are absolutely chilling. PLUS secret C*****u movie! (yes I censored that in case you haven’t seen this movie, go watch it!) Just when you think you have a handle on this movie, shit changes just in time for a huge ending that we both loved. How hot is K Stew in this movie? Does anyone else find TJ Miller as funny as I do? And who saw that ending coming honestly?
PS. Next week was going to be Godzilla Minus One but its not streaming like I thought it would be (wtf man?) so we’re replacing it with The Host (2006) and will cover Godzilla when it eventually comes out!

Monster Movie March Madness is hereeeeee! And we’re starting off with an absolute banger from 2005, The Descent. A powerful movie about womanhood (Happy International Women’s day) and friendship and loyalty and… there was something else I swear… Oh yeah! Cave creatures!! Even without the creepy crawlers, this would be a tense and terrifying movie that leaves you holding your breath. But this is a month to celebrate awesome monsters and we can’t overstate how iconic they are.
Did anyone see the sequel? Did you hate it? Love it? Didn’t seem like it needed a sequel. Especially with the original ending. But let us know in the comments!

What the fuck… is this movie?
Okay y’all, full disclosure, this was not supposed to be a bonus episode but we had no idea how to talk about this time-fucky movie so it only ended up being a half hour. Whoops. Casey’s bad! We (Casey at least) had a lot of fun watching Triangle from 2009 and we definitely suggest watching the movie before listening to this episode. We barely make sense even if you know what’s happening in this movie. A movie like this just doesn’t have the best structure for a recap/review discussion like we usually do. (Again, Casey’s bad.)
“This movie rules though.” -Casey
Stay spooky!

Coming at you with a horror staple this week, the OG gore p*rn, Eli Roth’s breakout movie: Hostel. The effects in this movie hold up beautifully of course. The dialogue? Not so much… I’m not sure if we’re supposed to like the protagonists but I guess it makes it more fun to watch the torture scenes? At least Olie is fun to watch. Also, do you know how hard it is to splice in clips of a movie that's 90% boobs and gore? (youtube’s 2 most hated things). Are there any parts of this movie or the sequel you can’t watch? Does anyone even remember anything about the third except the face peeling scene?
And who wants us to cover Thanksgiving (2023) soon? (possibly Roth’s best movie?)

Welcome back listeners! We got really deep this week talking about It Follows from 2014! This eerie movie with an amazing synth-y score is an atmospheric nightmare with awesome acting and a weird premise. If you watched it before this episode, how would you deal with the monster, would you just pass it on to someone else? How would you try to “beat” it? And who else is excited (and a little scared?) for the sequel??
Stay spooky!

We’d like to play a game… called “why are we the way that we are?” (Spoiler: No one wins) Saw X (2023) was such a fun time to watch and talk about. Are we nerds for liking this stupid franchise so much? Yes. Does Casey still get pumped every time Costas Mandylor comes on screen (or is mentioned)? Also yes. Do Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith both look incredible? ABSOLUTELY. Lets all thank the creators for not using deaging CGI. And for that stinger scene of course.
What are your all time favorite saw traps?? Any news favs from this movie? Let us know in the comments!
PS. Sorry for always having some video issues of some kind. We promise we’ll get it one day!

Found footage fall is still rolling and this movie is amazing! Yes, winter is coming. We don’t care. We’re holding on to fall as long as we can.
Would you stay in a haunted house for money like Shawn? Did you find him annoying? And did the FREAKING BELIAL ASS MFER FREAK YOU OUT? Because it kinda freaked me out. Go watch Deadstream on Shudder. It's so worth it.

Found Footage Fall is hereeeee! Yes it should have been here last week but we tried to record an episode over Zoom while I was on vacation (I do that a lot) and it's just… gone. I’m not sure what happened but I’m not the best with technology. We'll either re-record or maybe release the little bits we have one day. IDK yet. But this is honestly such a good start because Jes is finally about to GET HIGH and talk about horror movies! (and you can tell…) Hey guys, so what is this movie about? (We don’t know because we spend half the episode talking about BODIES BODIES BODIES.) What is Annie’s problem? And why didn’t that girlfriend knock her on her ass as soon as she met her?? It’s on Hulu, go watch it. It's honestly like nothing else I’ve seen. And I LOVE the idea of an entire movie on Dashcam. Who else Also I could not find any clips for this movie to add in.. what’s up with that @hulu? https://twitter.com/livingdreadful https://www.instagram.com/barelylivingdreadful/ tiktok.com/@barelylivingdreadful email: [email protected] Get the full RSS feed here: https://media.rss.com/deeperscreeperspod/feed.xml artwork done by Yuzumaki Ketsueki, instagram.com/yuzumaki_ https://instagram.com/yuzumaki__?igshid=NTdlMDg3MTY= All music and videos are owned by the respective artist and production companies. We’re baaaack! Sorry we’ve been gone for so long, but we are so happy to be back! It was a crazy few weeks for both of us but we should be going back to about an episode a week. This week, of course, we’re over the river and through the woods but like, nana and pop pop are acting weird.
This is probably my favorite Shyamalan movie but even if it's not, this is such a fun time. The acting is amazing, the shots are so unique, and that TWIST! Blew our minds the first time we watched it.

Sometimes, dead is better. It is in this story at least, damn. Who else has seen this BANGER too many times to count? How amazing is Fred Gwynne? And how cute is tiny Miko Hughes? COCAINE BEAR! COCAINE BEAR! Who doesn’t love seeing a (fake) bear in a snowfall of drugs?! I mean, come on. This movie is a hilarious throwback to 80s exploitation and it is a bloody, gorey good time. And can we talk about how awesome Kerri Russell and her jumpsuit are? Plus! Ray Liotta got to be a badass for his final role and we’re just grateful to get some more screentime with him after his passing. Go see Cocaine Bear in theaters or stream it at home when it’s available. And don’t think too hard about it, just have a good time.

10..9..8..7.. Okay hurry up. Too bad the wrap around story wasn’t 10 seconds long because, wow, it was boring. But the shorts are always a highlight of this franchise of course. And that bunny scared the h*ll out of both of us! And can anyone else not get enough of some of these practical effects? We always love a good face melting in the Deepers House. Hail Raatma!
(PS. Go see Cocaine Bear in theaters before next Saturday so you can have fun with us as we are thrown back into exploitation style films with this insane movie!)

Part two is hereeeeeee! We somehow manage to finish out the series with Scream 3-5 and make some predictions about Scream 6. We’re so excited that we’ll have Zak back to help us talk about the newest movie in this incredible franchise next month! We’d love to hear your thoughts about the sequels and your own predictions for the future.

This week we discuss one of the most iconic and influential franchises of all time in honor of Scream 6 coming out next month! This is coming out in two parts because we ended up recording for over two hours (oops) but no need to worry because part two comes out tomorrow! We talk about all of our favorite parts of the original (the absolute best) and as we tackle the sequels we each choose our favorite and defend it. Which sequel is your favorite? And who is your favorite (or least favorite) Ghostface? I think it's pretty obvious who we don't care for.

Woooooow we hated this movie! The bad acting, The almost creepy premise, and even the Not-Ben-Afleck wannabe couldn’t make up for how brain-meltingly boring this is. The mouth eyes looked kind of cool and the calls could have been absolutely terrifying but guess where they went? That's right, nowhere! (Good thing we love talking about movies we hate) Any of our listeners actually like this movie? Or can actually explain any of it to us? Because after an hour long discussion we still don’t know what the f– happened in this movie.

Happy (very belated) birthday to Casey!!! Hope you all have fun playing along with Jes this week as she is tortured by random soundtrack clips while I laugh. And if you don'y play along you'll still have fun laughing with us and hearing if Jes wins a prize in the end! I'm a little nervous for whatever game Jes comes up with for me because this was actually super hard!
PS. that sound you hear at the end is us trying to pop party poppers that absolutely did not work
Back at it again with another crazy movie! How amazing is Elizabeth Olsen's performance and why did Marvel have to steal her away?! This week we deep dive into this experimental film that feels like a nightmare in real time. Kudos to the whole crew for being able to put something like this together and make it as thrilling as it is.
Wow this movie is incredible! Did anyone else constantly forget this robo-girl was played by actual people? And who else almost jumped out of their seat for a (*spoiler alert*) freaking robot fight?! Needless to say, we are both very on board so listen to us rave about this campy and hilariously disturbing movie.
PS. WE'RE BAAAAACK! And so sorry for the huge gap in our episodes! Between both cohosts being sick (one having Covid) and both cohosts also dealing with loss and grief, we had to take a step back for a bit but we are back and ready to bring you SO MUCH CONTENT! The day after this drops, you will get another review episode and then just TWO days later you'll have a game episode! (can you tell we missed you?) Reminder we are now on youtube with video!
Happy Friday the 13th! As obvious as it is, we felt this was a necessary option for our first of many spooky fridays to come. Plus, as terrible as it is, at least there's at least one decent actor in it! Ps. Be on the look out for our new Youtube channel with a video component! That's right, we'll be deepin' and creepin' on camera! Be sure to follow us!
Join us this week and we countdown our favorite kills from two franchises known for... well their kills! We would love to hear your lists and favs from this amazing franchises that helped shape a lot of 90s and earl 2000s kids into horror fanatics.
What a fun and terrible movie to close out the year with! How stupid is the 'twist' of the story? And what ever happened to Brad Dourif's character? Did he ever get out of prison? Listen along this week as we discuss this terrible film and the unnecessary hatred of Tara Reid from the early 2000s! Thanks so much for listening and supporting us. We can't wait to see what 2023 brings! (ps next week is obviously not going to be Black Christmas like we say at the end of this episode. schedules are weird. Next week is a top 10 countdown of saw and final destination kills!)
Merry Christmas you piggy little... oh wait sorry. ignore that. Happy Holidays listeners! How creepy are the phone calls in this movie? And how stunning in Olivia Hussey. We spend probably too much time talking about how silky her hair looks but oh well. And bonus, at the end we discuss both the 2006 and 2019 remakes and their diminishing returns. Hope you all are having a safe and healthy holiday season no matter what you celebrate.
This is the ultimate showdown... between a bunch of horror characters and our ability to take anything seriously at all. Who do you think should win the first annual showdown? And who should be in the next bracket? We would love to hear your feedback on how wrong we were about these individual battles! dm us on instagram and twitter @deeperscreepers or email us @ [email protected]
When you're alone and life is making you lonely you can always... listen to Deepers Creepers! How amazing are all the women in this movie? And who else is excited for whatever Edgar Wright does next? And if anyone knows where to find the outfits from this movie, email us @ [email protected]! be sure to rate and review! love you all!
Come along with us this week as we talk about how perfect Allison Williams and Logan Browning are in The Perfection! How bat-sh*t crazy is this ending? And how incredible is that needle drop last song, Petals? Been listening to it on repeat since I rewatched it.
ps. thank you all so much for listening and supporting! (even the ones who listen out of spite, we appreciate the extra numbers <3)
Thanks for tuning in again with us this week after our much needed, impromptu break last week! How amazing is this movie? And who else just wants to BE Erin after watching this? Also, petition for the director to make any kind of sequel with Erin because she's an icon in the final girl community! follow us @deeperscreepers on instagram and twitter
Join us this week as we try to dissect this absolute mess of a movie. Why is there so much walking around with nothing happening? What the hell was with everyone's terrible acting? And why was Ben so aggro the entire time?! ps. Kiefer Sutherland needs to tip better!
Glad to be bringing you this review of one of the most divisive horror films of the year and in the Halloween franchise as a whole. Anyone else rewind that Jeremy part just to watch it happen again? What are your thoughts on Corey and the way Michael takes the backseat for most of the movie? We give our opinions on this movie as well as the rest of movies in this iconic franchise. Hope you all had a safe Halloween weekend! Happy best day of the year!
Have fun with us this week as we struggle to answer some trivia questions we should have probably known! Let us know if you would have gotten any that we missed! This game definitely made us add a few new 'to be watched' movies to our ever growing list but if y'all want to request movies you'd like us to review dm us on instagram or twitter @deeperscreepers
We have a very special (and hilarious) guest this week that we are so excited for, Zak! How amazing is the movie he picked? We completely understand why it's his favorite. Jill Larson's performance is amazing but why does every average guy in found footage movie suck so bad? follow us and let us know what you think of our pod on twitter and instagram @deeperscreepers!
Play a silly slumber party game with us and relive our 90s childhood with us with a creepy twist! We wanted to have some fun while getting some bonus episodes out for spooktober so we hope you enjoy. Let us know what your answers to these trios would be! follow us on twitter and instagram @deeperscreepers
Yaaaaaa'll this movie is a wild ride that we never want to stop. How crazy are the turns in this movie? Spoiler free section at the beginning of the episode for anyone who hasn't seen it but wants to hear our initial thoughts! Stay Spooky! (Bonus episode out on Sunday!)
X-tra long episode for you listeners this week as we discuss X and its prequel that just came out, Pearl. How amazing is Mia Goth? And how blessed are we to have Ti West in the horror genre? We hope you all liked this as much as we did because we spend the whole time gushing over both movies. Gonna have some special eps. coming up for spooky season so be on the look out! ps. please rate and review and follow @deeperscreepers on insta and twitter!
We have another guest on this week! Katy cracked us up all night and we know you'll appreciate her one liners too! We wanted to do a compare/contrast of the 1997 and 2007 version but they were too similar, so we mostly just refer to the remake. Anyway, how insane in this movie?!
Okay, listeners, this weeks movie is an absolute roller coaster! Did anyone else want better for Justine? And what were Vincent's real intentions with Rayane handing him that canister? Come with us this week as we try to dissect this insane thrill ride.
After a long weekend behind us both and a long one ahead for Casey this weekend, we decided to kick back this week and just talk with you all. We tell a bit about ourselves and our relationship to this wonderful genre as well as recap our favorite highlights of HorrorHound 2022 ('cept you, Elvira lookalike. You know why.) And at the end we play a fun game that listeners can play along with us! Let us know if you got any right before we did!
We are #teamesther this week but did anyone expect any different? Did anyone see that twist coming?! We sure as hell didn't but we enjoyed this movie so much. (Ps. I said the week after the game ep. we would have a guest, but its two weeks after that. The week in between we're going to review Titane)
Jes brings out her all time fav in this one and we both gush over how much we love the whole cast! On one of our rants, we came to the natural conclusion that Rob Zombie is the Adam Sandler of horror. Do you agree? hint: you should. (Also, correction, Bill Moseley was in Silent Night 3, got my sequels mixed up)
Could we praise this movie anymore than we do in this episode? YEP! But seriously, we had a blast watching this and talking about it. *Spoiler free section at the beginning for those who haven't seen it. follow us on twitter @deeperscreepers
***BONUS EPISODE! We wanted to share a few thoughts on this awesome movie before we get rocked by the prequel and we have fun joking about Jes's dead parents. That's a funny topic.. right?
We have our very first guest on this week's episode, our good friend Kelsi! The plot of this movie isn't very fun to talk about but we have a blast anyway. Can't wait to have more guests in the future. Look out for a special bonus episode coming soon! follow our twitter @deeperscreepers for more info!
We have a lot of fun this week discussing Kubrick's The Shining. There is so much to unpack in this film and we really only scratch the surface. What are some of your thoughts? *Also to clarify, at one point I say the room in the book is 117 but its 217, slip of the tongue. haha.
ps. say maze again.
This week we discuss the 2008 American remake of Shutter, a Thai film from 4 years earlier that has to be better than this rollercoaster of a movie. It's a fun time but we have even more fun deconstructing it. Come along on the ride with us as we wonder why these characters are all so awful! And what's up with that crazy ass ending?!
PS. Thanks for all the support so far and don't forget to rate and review! And always feel free to email movie review suggestions at [email protected]
In this first episode we review and discuss The Black Phone that just came out this year and we have a blast with it. So many good jump scares! And we can all agree the kid acting is incredible, right? Not sure what's up with the dad character but we dive in to that and much more! ps. This first episode doesn't have the best audio but we'll be upgrading our equipment asap! (if you wanna help us out, feel free to donate to our venmo @deeperscreeperspod)
We'd love for you to email us with comments/requests at [email protected].
