Can you believe it’s already December?! This year has been a blur, and here we are, wrapping it up. While the pandemic has unfortunately carried on, evolving into different variants, the beauty industry has also had to evolve in response to the unprecedented shift of shopping trends. There have been other changes within the beauty space as well in 2021, and I am going to share all the details with you today.
From new celebrity beauty line launches to businesses folding after collaborations gone wrong, 2021 did not spare anyone in the beauty industry no matter how big or small. We also discovered some new methods in the way of sustainability, and the results will be much appreciated by makeup artists and everyday users alike.
Memorable quote from the episode
"Wearing makeup is liberating and fun but confidently NOT wearing makeup is equally important."

As many of you know or might expect, the beauty industry is a fast-paced environment with high expectations. Managing all aspects of clientele, education, and your own business can quickly become overwhelming.
Cultivating the ability to find your center and maintain inner peace is essential to your success and growth, no matter what industry you are in. Celebrity Makeup Artist and Educator Nicky Posley shares his insights on how to navigate growing in a competitive field while maintaining your boundaries and providing unparalleled service to your clients.
Nicky Posley's journey into makeup began through a strong fascination with the transformative power of beauty art and fashion. A fine artist first, Nicky experimented with many visual art forms, eventually finding the medium he felt most at home with. He is both a working artist, and a respected educator of his craft.
He believes that makeup is art, and that art is empowerment. Whether it be slick and modern or primitive and rudimentary, art can evoke emotions deeply rooted in the human experience. Like the human experience, it is ever-changing. . . always evolving.
Memorable quote from the episode
" You can't ascend to your greatest moments if you don't have your peace."

Environmental sustainability is the responsibility to conserve natural resources and protect global ecosystems to support health and wellbeing, now and in the future. There is a massive impact on the earth from hard-to-recycle cosmetic packaging, as well as ingredients in the products that aren’t just harmful to the planet (particularly aquatic and marine life) but also to us! It really all comes down to self-regulation and making “cleaner” choices can help preserve us and the earth.
There are four key things I think we can do as consumers to improve sustainability as we shop for, wear, and dispose of makeup and beauty products:
1. Build Your Own & Refillable Palettes
2. Sustainable Materials in Packaging
3. Recycling & Repurposing Cosmetic Materials
4. Sustainable, Clean, & Cruelty-Free Formulas
Memorable quote from the episode
"The idea of sustainability made me be more responsible. I read labels now, and I've started to research."

The three things I invested in are:
- New Brushes from Rephr
- Skin Prep from Sonia Roselli
- Glamcor Riki Skinny Lighted Mirror
The episode goes into great detail about why I invested in these products. I also share in this episode some of the other big investments I've made in years past.
- My website and theme (Adriatique). Powered by ShowIt and theme by Tonic Site Shop. Save 10% off your theme with them using the promo code NATALIESETAREH.
- The Makeup Light. Singlehandedly one of the best investments to up level my makeup artistry game. I own 2 square panels and one eyelight.
- Cultivate What Matters, Powersheets. This is undoubtedly the best "business" investment I made for 2019. I didn't buy any of the tempting swag, just the planner. Thank me later.

Rarely does something impact my life the way Cultivate What Matters’ PowerSheets has and ::spoiler alert:: I am totally in love! Trust me. In this podcast episode, I want to share a little bit more about how PowerSheets helped me, how the whole thing works, and why this product (and process) meant so much to me, especially this year.
2018 was a really rough year for me. In fact, at the start of 2019 I was feeling like I was on my last leg. I bit the bullet and bought the PowerSheets, hoping that this “goal planner” was the thing I needed to get back on track. Ultimately, the goal of PowerSheets is to, as the name of the company suggests, Cultivate What Matters throughout the year.
Studies have shown that once you write down a goal, you’re 42 percent more likely to achieve it. The PowerSheets are laid out so that you start by writing down your big goals, then you break them down into smaller “action plans” so they’re even more likely to come to fruition. Last October, I went back to the beginning of the book and looked at my 2019 goals and realized that I ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISHED ALL MY GOALS!
I would say that PowerSheets is, hands down, the best investment I made in my business last year. I did masterclasses, went on an expensive retreat, and I invested a ton into my business and myself. While I loved each of those experiences and took a lot away from them, PowerSheets is the BEST thing I did!
You can read the full show notes (and get the affiliate link to buy PowerSheets if you want to) right here: http://nataliesetareh.com/2019/12/16/cultivate-what-matters-powersheets-did-they-really-work/

It’s really easy as a makeup artist to forget about all of the things that you accomplish in a year. You have really really busy times or really really slow times, and I thought it would be fun to share with you some of the highlights from this year while I’m in my slow season. This reminds me that I should give myself a pat on the back and not worry too much that it’s “slow”. You also deserve a pat on the back Because when you think of this entire year and reflect on all the things you’ve done, I’m sure you also can be very proud of that! hope this episode inspires you to create your own year in review and share with your audience. You all deserve it!
