In this lecture we continue the discussion on the Islamic teachings of ‘enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong’. We learn together about the remaining points on the guidelines and approach a Muslim must know and apply well in order to fulfill this noble practice which Allah described the believers with and entrusted them.

In a time of great trials and tribulations, injustices, misguidance, false ideologies and alluring temptations, the topic of enjoining what is right and prohibiting what is wrong has become a crucial topic. However, the Muslim community must learn the wisdom and approach in doing so, applying the Quranic verse ‘invite to the path of your Lord with wisdom and goodly advice’ (16:125).

This is a classic true story, which I originally delivered in 1997 and became a source of salvation and hope for all those who have gone too deep in sins and lost hope of a return. Studies reveal that 70% of wealth is depleted by the first generation and 90% by the third. Many neglect the importance of a lasting legacy that pleases Allah, offering ongoing benefits and rewards after death—whether through ceaseless charity, imparting beneficial knowledge, or nurturing righteous descendants who pray for them. Unlike worldly legacies, the hereafter holds eternal significance. Islam emphasizes initiating good deeds, ensuring that even after being forgotten by the third generation, one's contributions remain valuable in the eyes of Allah. Qadr, the divine decree, highlights Allah's control over everything, while Sabr, or patience, is a virtue urging steadfastness in the face of challenges. These concepts are intertwined, with Sabr being a means to accept and navigate Allah's Qadr. Muslims are encouraged to cultivate patience, trusting in Allah's wisdom and viewing challenges as tests of faith.

It was my absolute pleasure in hosting my first live interview with our beloved Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan, where we talked about his journey from early age atheism to becoming one of the most prominent students of the Quran in today's era. It was an interesting and beneficial discussion in which we bounced off each other’s life stories where there were relatabilities between us.

The heartbreaking events in Gaza have exploded into a tsunami of waves across the world prompting an unprecedented awareness and shift in the way the world now perceives the Palestinian people, Palestine, and Israel. At the same time, many have developed an interest in knowing the facts about Islam’s view of those it terms ‘People of the Book’, why Muslims call them that, how Islam stands out compared to them, the position of the Quran to the Bible of the Jews and Christians, what Islam actually stands for, the Quran’s position to the Old and New Testaments and its adherents among the Christians and Jews.

The second part of this lecture shows us what it truly means to have trust in Allah and that in true submission to Him lie the keys to our own benefit and salvation. Prophet Ibrahim (AS) is willing to slaughter his son if it pleases Allah and knows the wisdom behind it is inconceivable and beyond his comprehension, yet his trust and faith in Allah makes him not hesitate. It shows the value Islam places on a mother, in the story of Hajar (AS) and Ismail (AS). The result is the building of the Ka’bah and the unity of the world 5000 years on, manifesting the symbol of the oneness of Allah, unity and brotherhood and the true meaning of Islam.

An atheist once asked me why does he get this deep sense of calling out to God if he imagines himself shipwrecked and stuck in the middle of the sea? Even an atheist asks. We all ask the same question. Some make up their own beliefs, others hold on to a supernatural deity or superstitious belief to make sense of this inner calling. Yet still, deep inside they know there is something missing, so much so that moment it is questioned and rattled they may either submit to the fact they are in error and need to search for a better truth or they become angry and boastful attacking whoever opposes. This first part of this lecture talks about the childhood of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) showing this magnificent natural sense Allah created all humans upon, in order to help guide them and not go astray. It is called the ‘Fitra’. The young Prophet Ibrahim (AS) endures with the backlash of holding on to this inner truth which makes him grow in intelligence and powerful convictions, yet which rattle his people’s beliefs and question themselves. It also connects with us showing the hardships of life such as domestic and family abuse, bullying, plots of haters and how Allah never leaves our side if we stick to Him.
