Swami Sarvapriyananda teaches Verses 35-37 from the third chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. This series of talks unfolds the highest truths of Vedanta through the study of "The song of God". 🔆Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 3, Verse 35: श्रेयान्स्वधर्मो विगुण: परधर्मात्स्वनुष्ठितात् | स्वधर्मे निधनं श्रेय: परधर्मो भयावह: || 35|| śhreyān swa-dharmo viguṇaḥ para-dharmāt sv-anuṣhṭhitāt swa-dharme nidhanaṁ śhreyaḥ para-dharmo bhayāvahaḥ 🔴Superior is the law of one's own nature, though lacking in merits, to that of another even though well-observed. Death in working out the law of one's nature is superior; but an alien law is fraught with risk. 🔆Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 3, Verse 36: अर्जुन उवाच | अथ केन प्रयुक्तोऽयं पापं चरति पूरुष: | अनिच्छन्नपि वार्ष्णेय बलादिव नियोजित: || 36|| arjuna uvācha atha kena prayukto ’yaṁ pāpaṁ charati pūruṣhaḥ anichchhann api vārṣhṇeya balād iva niyojitaḥ 🔴Arjuna said: Now, impelled by what does man commit sin? O Krsna!, though loath to sin, he is driven to it forcibly, as it were. 🔆Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 3, Verse 37: श्रीभगवानुवाच | काम एष क्रोध एष रजोगुणसमुद्भव: || महाशनो महापाप्मा विद्ध्येनमिह वैरिणम् || 37|| śhrī bhagavān uvācha kāma eṣha krodha eṣha rajo-guṇa-samudbhavaḥ mahāśhano mahā-pāpmā viddhyenam iha vairiṇam 🔴The Blessed Lord said: This is craving, this is wrath, born of the constituent Rajas. he is voracious, a great sinner; know him to be the foe in this context. ► To support the Vedanta Society of New York: http://bit.ly/SupportVedantaNY Vedanta NY Media details: Primary Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/vedantany Web: http://vedantany.org Soundcloud: http://Soundcloud.com/VedantaNY iTunes Podcast: http://bit.ly/vedanta-talks-itunes Google Play: http://bit.ly/vedanta-talks-google-play Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/VedantaNY Instagram: @Vedanta_NY, https://www.instagram.com/vedanta_ny/ ABOUT VEDANTA Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest.
