Week 8 of the audio Bible in a year as we continue and finish off Leviticus (you'll be glad to hear) and start into Numbers. I know at times it can be hard work but as we talked in the recap, this is God setting out the way the Israelites were to get to know Him, and for us today, how we know the character of God and what He cares about. So as hard as it can seem, it's an important part of getting to know God.
In this episode we look through the very strange (and at times boring) book of Leviticus to see what it might tell us about God
We continue into week 7 of the audio Bible in a year, finishing off Exodus and reading Numbers and Leviticus. Although these books (especially Leviticus) can seem tedious, they are important in showing us the detail God has for His people, the care He has for them and the way in which He seeks this society to be ordered.
In this recap at the end of week 6 we look back over the last two weeks as we see some of the defining moments in the history of Israel. In these we se the beginning of God's redemption and as He reveals Himself and His power to them as they take the central part in His plan. If you have any questions or queries, please get in touch.
In this episode we look at the book of Exodus and its place and message within the Bible in a year
We continue through week 6 with the audio Bible in a year. If you have any questions that you'd like included in the next recap send them to me at [email protected]
In this episode of audio Bible in a year week 5, we read through the book of Exodus and see the greatest event in the history of the Jewish people as God frees His people from slavery. This is reflected in the greatest event in the history of mankind as God frees His people from the slavery of sin. This book is pivotal in our own understanding of our story.
In this recap at the end of week 4 we look back over the book of Genesis, seeing what it tells us today, and then also look forward as we begin the book of Exodus. These books are the foundation of the Hebrew Bible called the Torah, and foundational to our own experience of God in the Christian faith.
Bible in a year week 4 continues as we finish off Genesis and begin into Exodus. That'll be 2 books down, only a few more to go!!
In this episode we look at the book of Genesis and see why it was written and how it fits in with all we listen to
The third week of our audio Bible in a year. This third week picks up in Genesis where we left off. Either save the episode or 'mark as played' to pick up every day where you left off.
In this episode we think about the book of Job and the purposes behind it. It can be hard following the dialogue over the course of so many days so hopefully this episode helps
The second week of our audio Bible in a year. You've made it through the hard part, getting into the habit throughout the first week. This picks up where we've left off as we continue through the book of Job to it's end and then go back into Genesis. At the end of this week there will be a recap, so if you have any questions let me know at [email protected] or through the facebook page
Welcome to the audio Bible in a year running through 2025 which only takes on average 11 minutes per day. You can listen to it at one time, or stop and start after each day. Each episode will be uploaded on a Wednesday and will include a whole 7 days of audio. This means you can listen at a time and pace that suits your own schedule.
It is a chronological reading of the Bible, we may have to jump around a number of passages, however the audio version should make this easier. In this first week we listen through a number of chapters of Genesis and the corresponding passages before moving into the book of Job.

In this week, as we approach the end of the audio Bible in a year we finish some of the final letters to the New Testament Church and then begin the final book of the Bible - Revelation. This book will take us to the end of our year long journey, and will be a difficult book, but we will be blessed in it. Keep up the good work, and carry it through to completion, the finish line is in sight.
In this week of the audio Bible in a year we continue through a number of New Testament books. These were written as pastoral letters to Churches, fellow believers and friends and so often they are small and straight to the point. We're fast approaching the end of the Bible in a year and hopefully you are able to enjoy these books even though it's a busy time of year!
We have listened through a number of books in this week and so in this recap at the end of week 50, we will ask why these are covered so quickly.
This episode covers one of the shorter books in the Bible but takes us the same time.
In this episode we look at the background to the writer and the reasons for the book of Romans. It's a weighty book but worth the time
In this week's episode of the audio Bible in a year, we move into week 50!! Only three more weeks to complete! In this week we continue through the book of Acts which is the overarching book for the chronological Bible in a year. We also read through Philemon, Colossians, Ephesians and Philippians. Enjoy these as we move closer to the end.
In this week's episode of the audio Bible in a year we continue through some of the Pauline Epistles - Galatians and Romans. At times these books, written as letters to churches, can be read or heard in shortened form, picking out verses or Chapters, but this is the best way to read and hear them - in full. As you listen through them we hope you find them useful and helpful and can take the time to reflect on them as you go.
In this recap at the end of week 48 we look at a word that has been used a lot through Corinthians - the word 'wisdom'. It has been used frequently throughout the Bible and we'll look at what it means and how it can apply to us today. If you have any questions or queries please get in touch
We continue through the New Testament in the audio Bible in a year. In this week's episode we read through 1 & 2 Corinthians using the book of Acts as our chronological reference. As we read through Acts we see the Apostles travel through different regions setting up churches and these two books that Paul writes, 1 & 2 Corinthians are letters from him to these churches.
In this introduction we take a longer look at a very short, but sometimes contentious, book.
In this episode of the Bible in a year we move from the book of Acts to look at some of the Epistles that were written during this time. Once again this is where the chronological version takes on a different approach and these epistles are included within the timeline of the overall book of Acts. We read through the book of James, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, and also begin into 1 Corinthians.
In this recap at the end of week 46 we look forward to the book of the 'Acts of the Apostles' and see what this book will teach us, but we also think about the central theme, and climatic point of the whole Bible - the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. So much has happened these last two weeks but this event changes everything for everyone.
I'm hoping that somewhere out there among our listeners, you might be willing to write a review of the podcast. If you'd be interested please get in touch via [email protected] Thank you!
In this episode of the audio Bible in a year we finish the Gospel accounts of Jesus of Nazareth concerning His life, death and resurrection. We then continue into the book of Acts which is really the 'Acts of the Apostles' as they continue the message of how Jesus transformed their lives. If you have any queries or questions, or anything you'd like me to focus on for the recap
In this episode we outline some of the details which surround this Gospel from the obvious (Who wrote it!) to some of the less obvious around the themes within it
In this episode of the audio Bible in a year, we continue through the latter stages of the Gospels, hearing about the final events in the life of Jesus. These include his final preparations for His Disciples and the events leading to the central event in the whole of the Bible - Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. Again the four different Gospels will look at different aspects and central themes leading up to this, but all include this horrendous event.
In this recap at the end of week 44, as we come to the end of the Gospels and the climatic point of their writings - the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we look at these 4 different Gospels and how they relate to the rest of the New Testament. If you have any questions or queries please get in touch
This week's episode of the audio Bible in a year sees us continue through the Gospels as Jesus reveals Himself by miracles and his exchanges with both the general population and the religious establishment. If you have questions or queries about any of these stories let me know

We continue through the Gospels of the New Testament, reading chronologically through them. At times this might seem repetitive, but even in those times try to look for the differences in each Gospel and remember that they were written for a reason
In this recap at the end of the first week in the New Testament, we look at the four different Gospels and what they can tell us about this Jesus. We also look at how this connects with all that has gone before
This is the first week of the New Testament and the Gospels concerning Jesus of Nazareth. He is the Messiah, the one promised throughout the writings of the Old Testament.
In this extra recap, we look at the blank page in the middle of the Bible and spend some time congratulating ourselves at getting this far, and then looking forward to all that'll happen in the next months

In week 38 of the audio Bible in a year we continuing through a number of books such as Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther and more. If you have any queries get in touch. These books continue to tell us of all that happens the great city of Jerusalem and the bigger idea God has for the nation of Israel.

There is a phrase that has been repeated a LOT over the last two weeks and that is 'This is the declaration of the Lord' and variations of it. We will look in this recap at that phrase and what it means.
It may be a small book, only 5 chapters tucked away in between Jeremiah and Ezekiel, but it's a powerful book of Lament and hope. My hope is this outline helps you as you read/listen through it
This audio version of the Bible in a year continues through Ezekiel and Jeremiah while also reading extracts from the book of Daniel. It may be difficult to jump from one book to another, but this is again the way of the chronological version, and the benefits of it.
In this episode of the audio Bible in a year, we continue through the book of Ezekiel as well as Daniel. These prophets continue to speak into the Israelite people, even when they do not listen. If you've any questions for the recap let me know at [email protected]
In this recap at the end of week 34 we look back over the last two weeks and see how these books reflect something of the Israelites, but also us in the present - how the hearts of people can often be entirely different to how their actions speak.
This week we continue through the books of Ezekiel and Jeremiah. If there are any queries about what to cover in the next recap let me know
In this episode we briefly outline the weird and wonderful, the harsh and hopeful book of Ezekiel. If you would like to know more about it, please get in touch

In this recap at the end of week 32 we look at some of the books that were included in and throughout the book of Jeremiah. This again is the advantage of the chronological version, we get to read these books within the setting of an overarching book - in this case Jeremiah. If you have any questions or queries, or would like to know anything else, please get in touch with me via [email protected]

Apologies these are all being uploaded at the one time, it's been a busy summer!! The audio Bible in a year week 31 continues through the book of Jeremiah, putting it into chronological order with the other Old Testament books. We continue to see reform and disaster within the Israelite people.
In this recap at the end of week 30, we look back over the last two weeks and look at the background to the book of Jeremiah and the events that have led to this point. We also think about two verses in Jeremiah which might hold the key to everything!
We continue into week 30 of the audio Bible in a year, reading through 2 Kings and several of the prophets including Zephaniah and Jeremiah
Audio Bible in a year week 29 takes us through more of Isaiah, Kings and Chronicles as we continue to see/hear the story of the these Kings and their people unfolding. You would think they would catch on by now, but it seems they can't!!

In this recap at the end of week 26 we look back over what is a common occurrence throughout the Bible; the call to repentance. We look specifically at this in the story of Jonah and how we can learn from that.
At the end of this week you'll have covered HALF THE BIBLE! Congratulations on making it this far and I hope you've found it an enjoyable and educational experience, hearing stories you may have never heard before, and getting to hear a different sequence of books. This week we continue and finish week 26 and half the Bible.
We continue through the audio Bible in a year into week 25, following the two divided Kingdoms and some of the prophets that come to tell them how to restore themselves to God
In this recap at the end of week 24 we look at the divided Kingdoms of Israel and Judah. The historians of this time classify whether the Kings were good and bad depending on whether they let the pagan practises continue or not. The famous prophet Elijah speaks into the Kingdoms at this time.
We continue through the audio Bible in a year into week 24 further into the complicated story of two Kingdoms side by side. If you have questions or queries let me know at my email [email protected] or through the Facebook page
Continuing through the audio Bible in a year into week 23. Good work on getting this far, you have followed the story of the Israelites a long way. Now we see the Kingdom divide and a difference in the Kings in both Kingdoms.

We continue into week 22 of the audio Bible in a year. In this week we finish the book of Solomon’s Proverbs and sayings, and read through Ecclesiastes before an exciting two days of genealogies.
We continue through the audio Bible in a year week 21 in Solomon's reign, as he shows his wisdom and the fulfilment of God's promise as people come from far and wide to hear his wisdom. We get an insight as the week continues as we begin the book of Proverbs
In this recap over the past two weeks we see the reign of the Kingdom of Israel be handed from King David to his son Solomon. Solomon's first task is to build a temple for God, something that his father David wished to do but was not chosen to do by God. We also see the new King Solomon show the gift of wisdom in a dispute between two prostitutes and a dead child.
We continue into the story of King Solomon as he builds the temple. We see an insight into all that went into its construction as well as Solomon's response, and the Israelites' response to it. We also read part of Solomon's wisdom as we read through Song of Songs, or Song of Solomon as it's sometimes called.

In this recap over the last two weeks we see the reality of the world around us present in the Bible, we also see the best of Game of Thrones and any other TV drama! It's all right there to read, with no story covered up. This is what we need to recapture in the Christian Faith; the reality of what it says, the reality of what it speaks of and in to.
We continue through the audio Bible in a year into week 18. This week we continue through the life of King David, but we not only observe and hear about it, we also get an insight into his mind through the writing and inclusion of the Psalms throughout each day.

If you have any questions or queries please get in touch with me via [email protected]
Apologies for the delay in uploading, we've had a lot of sickness in the house these last few weeks. We're into week 16 of the audio Bible in a year, reading through the end of 1 Samuel and into 2 Samuel with the corresponding chapters of Chronicles. The story of David, as we go through these next few weeks, is central to the story of the Israelites and the Old Testament.
We continue the audio Bible in a year into week 15 and the book of 1 Samuel during the reign of King Saul. This reign comes to an end in dramatic fashion and there arises a new King in Israel. It is during this week that we see more use of the chronological version as the Psalms are intertwined with this book.
In this recap at the end of week 14 we look back over the time when 'everyone did as they wanted' (Judges 17:6). This seems to be the theme of these past two weeks but in the midst of it God continues to work. We look at this specifically through the bizarre and horrific story of the Levite and the Concubine. If you have any questions or queries please get in touch
In this outline we look at the book of Judges, one which we will dip in and out of throughout other books. It tells us this collection of independent stories of the leaders/judges within the people of Israel
In this (slightly longer) episode as we look at an outline of the book of Joshua, we have some big questions which come up for the first, but not the last time! We fly through them and see what it adds to our listening of this book. If you have any further questions please get in touch via [email protected]
Week 14 of the Audio Bible in a year as we move into 1 Samuel. This is where the chronological version proves so helpful as the Psalms are interwoven through the reading of 1 Samuel
In this special Easter message we look back over all the previous weeks and pick out some phrases and terms that will be heard a lot throughout Easter. Hopefully this will help deepen your understanding of who Jesus is and what He did for you. This message finishes by reading through several portions of the New Testament to affirm His claims and acts. Praying you celebrate well over Easter, the tomb is empty, Jesus is alive!
In this recap at the end of week 12 we look back over the last two weeks and see how the leadership of the Israelites has changed as they embark upon their long awaited journey into the actual Promised Land. The 40 years of the Israelites, and the last number of weeks for us have anticipated this time, so we celebrate it with great enthusiasm.
This week we finish the book of Joshua which charts the movement of Israel into the Pormised Land, and we move into the books of Judges and Ruth.
In this introduction to the book of Deuteronomy, we look at the various aspects of this final exhortation of Moses as the people overlook the fulfilment of the Promised Land
We continue the audio series into week 12, as we read through the book of Joshua as the Israelites finally enter into the Promised Land after all these years of wandering in the Wilderness. Those who disobeyed have died and the new generation are already to enter into the land their ancestors were promised.
We continue into week 11 of the Audio Bible in a year, continuing through Deuteronomy and into Joshua. It's been a long time coming, basically 10 weeks, but now the Israelites are ready to enter the Promised Land! Let's see how it turns out this week!!
The book of the Census, or as it should be better named, the book 'in the wilderness' as the people journey on towards the Promised Land. In this episode we look at an introduction to the book
The recap at the end of week 10 looks back over the last two weeks and approximately 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. We see them stepping into the biggest event in Israel's history as they step into the Promised Land. This marks a major part of their identity as they walk towards who God wants them to be.
We're into double figures now as we move into week 10 of the Audio Bible in a year. In week 10 of the audio Bible in a year we join the Israelites at the edge of the Promised Land as they wait to enter into it. We begin into the book of Deuteronomy this week which is the speech Moses gives to the people before they cross the Jordan to enter the Promised Land. If you have any questions, queries, or if you feel sorry for Moses like I do, get in touch through the facebook page or by emailing me at [email protected]
Congratulations on getting through nearly two months of the audio Bible in a year. This week we continue through Numbers as the Israelites continue wandering through the Wilderness! If you have any questions and queries contact me at [email protected]
In this recap we look over the last two weeks and one of the most important passages in the Old Testament as God instructs the people of Israel about the Day of Atonement. Once again God liberates His people.
In this episode we look at the introduction to the very difficult and often quite dull (let's face it!) book of Leviticus. What's it all about? And do we really need to read it at all? Surely it doesn't have anything to tell us in the modern world. Let's find out!
