We are the world’s leading hammered highbrows of Beatles broadcasting. In other words, we have a few drinks, we hit record, and we review and rank one Beatles song per episode.
The podcast Blotto Beatles is created by Blotto Beatles. The podcast and the artwork on this page are embedded on this page using the public podcast feed (RSS).
Have you ever wondered what it's like behind the curtain of a Blotto Beatles recording session? This intro peels it all back for a look into how the sausage is made. We really get down to business after that as we....take an episode we recorded for Ranking the Beatles and put it up on our feed. With that, we have our usual fun as we are joined by one of our original pod pals in Jonathan Pretus of Ranking the Beatles to discuss if Tommy's impression is more Leno or Tyson, Ringo's feet, the Billy Corgan and Bill Burr brotherhood, Scotty's caricatures, the Blottos replacing Billy Joel in his MSG residency, how the Blottos sleep, lots about Crocs, lots about Garbage Pail Kids, and the Larry Williams original, Slow Down.
We say it several times in the episode, but if you're headed to the Fest for Beatles Fans in New Jersey during the weekend of March 28, please make sure to come up and say hi and don't forget to swing by and see our live podcast episode with Jonathan.

The Blottos hit the double ochos by playing a voicemail from the fictional world of Knives Out, hitting a very early Magical Mystery Word, questioning when the last time was that people saw Ringo's eyes, complimenting Becker's Joe Walsh impression, suggesting that Scotty add a cowboy hat to the ensemble, mixing cocktails live on air, apologizing to the Larrys of the world, and diving deep into the many layers of the critically underrated Glass Onion. Mix up a Gibson and join us for the ride.

The Beatles changed the world with three simple words: Yeah, Yeah, Yeah—and we’re here to overthink (and over-drink) every last one of them. This week, we take a deep dive into She Loves You with James Campion, author of Take a Sad Song: The Emotional Currency of Hey Jude. We discuss everything from Paul’s dad’s questionable lyrical edits to the harmonic genius behind this early Beatles barnburner. Plus, we take a few detours into dramatic readings, home decor philosophies, and the eternal question—does this song still slap after five pints?
Where does this iconic track land on our ever-expanding, ever-argued-over Big Ol’ List of Beatles Songs? Tune in, pour one out, and find out. Out now—dig it!
Where does this absolute ripper land on our big ol’ list of Beatles tunes? Stick around, pour another round, and find out.
Give James a follow on Instagram (@jamescampion) and please check out Take a Sad Song: The Emotional Currency of “Hey Jude”, wherever you buy books.

The Blottos start with a review of the new Beatleverse trailer before diving headfirst into a full-on banger of a Beatles track with author Jack Marriott; from there we quickly dive into our day drinker, the fingerpicking murders of Donovan, cozying up to a bar on a Sunday Funday, the upcoming bangers and clangers to be tackled, having a plastered pilgrimage through Beatledom, drinking above pubs that hold 50-year-old birthday parties, Manchester Britpop, rucksacks with old cassettes, being shit faced at the end of the bar and requesting Flowers in the Dirt, if Paul knows how much a pack of cigarettes costs, Tommy marketing himself as an audiobook reader, and all the magic parts that add up to the travel-focused "Ticket to Ride."
Don't forget to go to Microcosm Publishing and pick up Jack's book, Beatles Blackouts. Use code BEATLESMONUMENTS for a discount!

It was a singular joy to close out the year in episode 85 with Tom Hunyady and Andy Nicholes of the 2Legs podcast as we discussed the McCartney '71 tapes, some real moments of what this work means to us when other things feel upside down, a State of the Blotto Union, The George RR Martins of New England, New Year's Blotto Resolutions (including Stamos), why mistakes happen on the list, the Blotto Mono Box Set, couples counseling for podcast hosts, the mandatory Thanksgiving/Last Waltz chat, the Backbeat soundtrack, the Beatles early bongo obsession, Shea Stadium notes, if McCartney actually drove a boat or started a campfire in his Anthology interviews, the first time Ringo hit a mystery word for us, the best day of McCartney in the studio, Andy Nicholes calling "Yesterday" the worst McCartney Beatles song ever, a lot of talk about our mutual friend Sam Whiles, and the McCarntey barn burner "I'm Down."
The interstitial music you heard between our intro and the welcome of the 2Legs gents is an original Scotty C. composition entitled "Elbows." Once you listen too the episode, you will understand why this was a perfect place to point that out.

After a call from our attorney, we get right to business recording an intro in arrears as we discuss if fun size is that fun, if king's size being renamed sharing size is just making it shaming size, the ranking the Mr. songs feedback, the introduction of our singer/songwriter stalwart of a guest in Martin Sexton, recreating the entirety of Abbey Road with only an acoustic guitar, and a song that is actually about the Queen in "Her Majesty."

We get back after a hiatus and rap about the universally accepted worst Beatles song ever. Do we agree? You'll find out after you sort through The Beatles Halloween Fan Club records, starting fires, the plight of professional podcasters, several Ranking the Beatles related messages, the role of youth coaching, Tommy inventing ice beers (again),Beatles soccer chants, kidney transplants, the official ranking of "Mr." songs, and the organ solo jam, "Mr. Moonlight."
We bring it up in the episode - if you haven't heard Tom Scharpling's "Mr. Moonlight" story, you need to listen to it here. If you like that, you'll love Scharpling's The Best Show.

We return from a brief hiatus with the scholarly work you know and love....and then we hit a couple of early Magical Mystery Words. From there we go heavy banter as we discuss George Clinton, summer vacations, our own review of our own list correction episode, Slane's refusal to be our official whiskey, Tommy visiting Slane Castle to formally request a sponsorship, what we would do if nominated for a Poddy, Becker only listening to songs that give him specific instructions for life, the Blottos pulling a Sufjan, Marvel Villain Ron Richards, and a song where we can only discuss the drummer, "PS I Love You."

We begin our octogenarian episode with Tommy's artistic expression of his anger towards Becker before we record an intro in arrears, featuring the magic of our new THX (or THC) bumper. And then, friends, 80 is a big number, and we are doing a big song with a big guest! We welcome Mr. Victor DeLorenzo of the Violent Femmes to discuss what some would consider to be the most popular Beatles song. Victor was kind enough to give us the time to talk about his work in one of the most important alternative bands of all time before we discuss one of the most important works of the Fab Four. Where will we rank it? There's only one way to find out.

We get ambushed by an AI Tommy intro before the real one takes us into the world of Ringo's haberdashery. From there we do the work of fighting against those who say we aren't drinking enough on air, discussing what we would do with a billion dollars, thinking about Rick Rubin as the zen master of mixologists for your Blottos, listening to some more voicemails from listeners, considering the Dad rock of The Beatles, fighting about street level vs. collegiate Beatles, hiring the therapist from Some Kind of Monster, introducing our new listener suggested Let It Pee segment, and a big one in Beatles material, Can't Buy Me Love.

Baby, it's time to crack into episode 78 where your Blottos discuss the infamous Cameron Crowe/Beatles connections, the amazing influence of our guest Skylar Moody, feeling on the new Beatles films, feelings on Timothy Chalamet, a record number of calls from fans, a surprise drop in from Beatles podcasting royalty talking about the Queen Bee's cover of Blackbird, wearing a "What Would Jonathan Do?" bracelet, getting the Beatles couches, mispronouncing Clavioline, and the ballad of the hippy movement, "Baby, You're a Rich Man."

Episode 77 starts with a dive into Ringo's role as the original Beatle to bring Indian music to the band before we discuss breweries appropriating rockstars visages, teaching Scotty how to drink beer from a bottle, THC beverages, Cheech as the go-getter of the duo, when the Beatles were all by themselves, probably a little too much Jawbreaker talk, RB throwing a middle eight in to make a Beatles song better, Scotty coming out late with this a sleeper fave, and the questionable Ringo sung "What Goes On."

We then record an INTRO IN ARREARS before introducing true pod royalty in our guest Alex Goldman, taking Alex on a journey that includes a serious discussion of pronunciation, the worst Tweets of 2023, Alex's music Slow Fawns, The Beastie Boys, a lot about A Day in the Life, iconic 1-2-3-4s, the strange connections between podcast producers, and the end of the concept with an analysis of the Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band - Reprise.

We take the big leap into Episode 74 with a listen to some communal chants before we record an intro in arrears, remind listeners of ClarisWorks, introduce the incomparable Chris Ballew of the Presidents of the United States of America and Casper Babypants, revel in Chris' amazing rock and roll journey, make mistakes about the life of Jimmy Nicols, play songs that make little kids do a creepy dance, question why sitar masters don't just get a Snark tuner, learn about the health benefits of local bone broths from local chickens, learn the truth about Chris’ favorite canned fruit, and discover the beauty of the George Harrison penned/hummed "Within You Without You."

We ask you to bear with us as we begin this episode with our bylaw approved quarterly staff meeting. From there we remind everyone that we were early on the Mal train, dig into our single album White Album tracks and titles, differentiate between Pee Wee Herman and the Marx Brothers, question the Outbreak Monkey of Beatles for Sale, question an instrumental verse several times, explicate bays of hale, marvel at RB's Bowie connection to this song, invent snants (TM), and discuss the rose colored glasses of "Words of Love."

How do we start our septuagennial episode? With a BLOTTO BEATLES EXCLUSIVE!
We then jump into the episode proper with Tommy's new catch phrase, some listener homework, Scotty C never skipping hands day, Irish Budweisers, another amazing example of RB breaking down rock and roll patterns, Tommy saying the word "standard" about 400 times, Becker telling us the favorite songs of each William, Tommy singing every song with the lyric "I Will," and the rhumba-inspired White Album standard, I Will.

Did you all know there's a NEW Beatles song?
Did you know it's the LAST Beatles song?
Did you know it was originally recorded to a CASSETTE tape?
You did?
Well, we wanted to talk about it, and we wanted to do it with some of our best pod pals. Listen in as we are joined by Allison from BC the Beatles and Jonathan from Ranking the Beatles as we dig into "Now & Then," it's humble beginnings and futuristic endings, the music video, the remixed "Love Me Do," that artwork, and which member of the 1992 Dream Team Tommy most resembles. It's a fun one!

It says it right on the tin, people. Pushkin Media reached out to us and asked if we would be interested in hearing a preview episode of the brand new "McCartney: A Life in Lyrics" podcast, which was just released today, October 4, 2023. What you will hear within this episode are the Blotto reactions to the first episode, which focuses on "Eleanor Rigby," followed by the McCartney episode, in full.
Listen here, and then make sure to subscribe to this newcomer to Beatles Podcasting - we really think he's got something.
Without further ado, Blotto Beatles Present: "McCartney: A Life in Lyrics." We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

We hit a major milestone of lining up episode numbers and song titles by digging into the vaults of the British Library for a rare recording of James McCartney; great notes from new listeners; an A-Paul-ogy; RB's Blue Drink; The Beatles grunge era; a lot of Foo Fighters talk for a section on Nirvana; inviting Dave Grohl to the pod; potentially insulting Dave Grohl, even though we think he's a cool dude; reminding Grohl that we'd love to have him on the pod; Becker's distaste for James Corden; if we know what skiffle is; the big reveal of Tommy's occupation; how Woody Allen ruined the clarinet; RB's new catch phrase, "Send snacks, send pants, send pants full of snacks;" and the song of commitment, "When I'm Sixty-Four."

Welcome to the second annual Blost Weekend where we bug out to the Blotto Bungalow, Bill? We start off this episode by sharing a spin-off Blotto production "Freehold Companion", before realizing that The Blottos owe Tommy a very real aPAULogy. From there we get right down to it with this week's guest Bob Pernice (but not until Becker stops talking about himself) and the very big track he brought along with him. Not only is this the finest Beatles song on marine mammalogy, but it really shakes up some fundamentals of our ongoing list.
Bob is not only a great guest and a passionate Beatles fan, but he plays music with his brother. Give a listen to the great Pernice Brothers album "Overcome by Happiness", which is getting a deluxe 25th-anniversary reissue next month. Also, if you're lucky enough to live in New York or Boston, you'll get a chance to see the album performed in its entirety, do it!

Please listen in for a show first, as The Blottos take on this week's introduction in arrears, we're sure you can't even tell...Tommy gets caught cheating on his intro and Becker needs a couple of takes to get into it. From there, special guest Jason Narducy joins in and he brought a big big track to talk on. Jason is part of a lot of things we love - his band Split Single and a member of Superchunk & the Bob Mould band. Good chat with a great guest (on the best Beatles track?), dig it.
If you are unfamiliar with Jason's work, please check out his music as Split Single and follow along on IG & Twitter. Check if he's rolling through your town in late March / April.

Run and the upcoming season of Serial based on Tommy), Becker's Steely Dan struggle, pies from Chris W, the Beatles famous Seattle Invasion era work, and the George Harrison-penned "I Want to Tell You."

We get Beatles-archaeology from the top by uncovering the genius of the McCartney '71 tapes. From there we investigate AI culture as we let our robot overlords write out introductions. Finally getting into a normal episode, we discuss how much fun Mikey Erg is, our recent appearance on the Fans on the Run podcast with our friend Ethan Alexanian, Becker's New Year's resolution to be a SteelyButt (the common term for a Steely Dan fan), Scotty's traffic copter work, and the only way to start Rubber Soul - Drive My Car.

We begin by reviewing Tommy's Beatles fortune cookies before we read some fan mail; offer an a-PAUL-ogy, Becker's Papa's feelings on our weak ability to crack nuts and Tommy in general; Tommy's feelings on Papa's inability to restart a modem; our amazing guest and punk rock stalwart, Mikey Erg; recording records with Steve Albini; mastering records at Abbey Road; missed connections with Robert Plant and Giles Martin; pubs in the basement of Abbey Road; bullying Donovan; homework from Jeff Tweedy; RB blowing our minds, as usual; Tommy bringing up Shakespeare...again; and the royally-themed White Album gem, "Cry Baby Cry."
Make sure to check out Mikey's new record, Love at Leeds! Need one song as a starting place? Mikey suggests "Almost Like Judee Still."

Your Blottos start by reviewing this year's Chop Hall entrants, gifts from friends, Tommy's creepy kid chair, talking brothers, our guest Brother Bryan, Beatles Brunch vs. Lemmy Lunch, discovering that your brother is a kleptomaniac, Becker's Beautiful Taxes, our guest bringing a competing soundboard, making comparisons because of our experience with Guitar Hero, our best Boyz II Men impressions, and the bark-infused "Hey Bulldog."

UPDATE: We had a sync error partway through the episode and uploaded a new version. If you are a subscriber, you may need to download again to get this newer version.
Episode 53 finds those Blotto boys together again and up to the same old shenanigans. While we've conquered the world of inebriated Beatles broadcasting, we are excited to announce our next endeavor - Blotto Beatles: The Podcast - A Musical. Enjoy the teaser of what's to come (if I know Tommy and a bit, there's more to come...).
After that, the fellas get into a Prince-ly discussion about the Fabulous Four, before diving into the seemingly dashed-off and rhyme-y John jam "It's Only Love". Maybe no one is amazed by this tune, but you know we'll find something to talk about. Meanwhile, the question persists, Is it a rhyme if you are matching up to the same word?
Thanks for listening.

We begin the road to episode 100 with a review of the new episode of our favorite other podcast, THE SACRED HARP; reminiscing on champers getting to our head; an update on our recent lack of international or American snacks; the introduction of our amazing guest, Kara; whether it's harder to borrow sugar from or hide a gun for your neighbor; going Monkees to Beatles; true stories of David Bowie on a treadmill; disappointing celebrity trainers; songs that can be both personal and universal; and the religiously-tinged classic, "Let It Be."

It's episode 50! We celebrate this momentous occasion by discussing the time Ringo auditioned for the sitcom that told the story of the 90s, clip shows, RB as Benjamin Button, the number of hangovers for your beloved Blottos, many champagne flute toasts, RECORD SCRATCH, retelling the story of the Beatles in 60 seconds, Banksy coming on the pod, Hot Becker's Hot Takes, the return of Scotty's Nut Corner, and the American B-side, "From Me to You."

We approach our half century mark with an early mystery word, some Game of Thrones/Beatles talk, Becker's best Robin Williams, a little more shilling to Powers Irish Whiskey, that Beatles documentary where John wore a huge suit the whole time, our commitment to no longer saying "the pyick," infantilizing your partner, the return of our segment "Becker Offers Dating Advice," old dudes figuring out what BAE means, and our pumped take on "Little Child."

We come in strong after a little bit of a summer respite with some timely Top Gun rumors, Scotty's specter, RB's Vermonting score, taking boats to see Deer Tick, the Blottos getting down at an actual dance club, Becker's thesis that we all have the epic experiences of our favorite writers, Scotty's homemade wine, that time Ringo hung those two balls from his pants during a photo shoot, your partner asking you to keep their love a secret as a giant red flag, and the Disney-inspired "Do You Want to Know a Secret?"

Episode 47 begins year three of Team Blotto's project, so we start with the release of two new t-shirts that management told us would sell like hotcakes. From there, we get into it with our amazing guest Caleb Nichols who discussed his new album/rock operetta, Ramon, describe as " the experience of a micro-mushroom-dosed pizza for your gay date night with the magnesium/iron combo of queer comedy and tragedy"; the idea of queering the Beatles; a wine buyer's opinion on box wine; pretending wine is kombucha while working heavy machinery; what makes a rock opera; the artistic merit of fan fiction; creating a mythology for groups who were never allowed to have on; Brian Epstein as a hero; Caleb making us realize that Paul's pseudonym, "Ramon," is just a play on his song title, "Ram On," and the lovable rocker, "Boys."

It's the second annual BLOTTO VETOES SPECTACULAR! We celebrate our second poddiversary by each selecting one song from our canonical list of Beatles songs from best to worst and trying to convince the other Blottos of its rightful placement. Will Scotty win two in a row? Will RB come in like a young buck and stir it up? Will Tommy be snubbed on votes for a second year? Will Becker be mad the the Scruffs clearly agree with Tommy? Listen and find out!
Oh, and we also saw Paul McCartney and chat about that.

We kick into episode 46 by breaking podcast ground (again) before introducing Chris (again); talking about our pump up music; asking if "Hey Ya" is the best song every written; realizing we are pretty old; wondering if Chris should be the official Stat-Man, Scat-Man, or Scat-Man (the other kind of scat); drinking Maccaritas; landing on our favorite preparation for corn; wondering about the Ranking the Beatles rankings (again); praising the Tommy Stans; filming the other Beatles doc about them at their worst; wearing a sport coats during 80s rock production; doing the Bartman; challenging Metallica to doubles tennis; listening to an episode of “And Your Nerd Can Sing” that blows everyone’s minds; and talking the pop hit "Eight Days a Week."

Because we are so cultured, we get into this episode by discussing Shakespearean theatre before we dip back in to the world of the Blotto Bungalow (Bill?) and talking about the return of Chris, precedented maneuvers, the sad loss of Taylor Hawkins, a generous box of snacks from Pete G, a devious gift of Malort from Becker, the option to rent the Blotto Bungalow (Bill?) on Air BnB, visiting new friends at Senna Farms Brewery, the Beatles Detroit roots, an unexpected ICP tangent, and the unattractive jealousy of "You Can't Do That."

Yeah, we should be talking Beatles in these episode notes, but we got SAM CALAGIONE of the mighty Dogfish Head Brewery this week! We go long talking about his beers, what got him to brew, the items he has in the Smithsonian, confusing the Beatles with The Replacements in front of Joan Jett, failed authors, and the bands that ended up naked in his house. It's a long one, but it's worth it, and we ain't Geoff Eme-Rick Rolling you on that one.

From there we bring back Musical Supervisor RB and get into our normal Beatles fare as we discuss pies and nuts, the fantastic Deer Tick, some more Get Back doc-talk, the Bad Beatles of Boston, one more piece of evidence to show that Paul McCartney loves Razor Ramon, more nut talk, Becker ditching the rest of us for Elon Musk, some regional Rhode Island work, and the very easy tune "All I've Got to Do."

Episode 32 marks not only the day that Ringo's appreciation for hot dogs got in the way of enlightenment but also our discussion of in-person episodes having too much eye contact, the great beers of Devil's Purse brewery with Devil's Purse brewers Mike and Tim, what it's like recording in a brewery, friendship based on hating the same things, making fun of people who mispronounce the beers of Devil's Purse, Tommy mispronouncing all the beers of Devil's Purse, the Beatles surf rock era, Mike Love as history's greatest villain, Mike Love listening to the Beatles and Donovan hanging while cry singing "In My Room," some great whiskey from listener Seth, the potential for sleeping at a brewery, Beatles flat earthers, the potential for a Paul solo record of all White Album songs, and the experimental McCartney song "Wild Honey Pie."

Episode 31 breaks down the story of the originally intended title of "Beatles for Sale," the BFSAND, another A-PAUL-OGY, when the Beatles set their guitars on fire, bands we like that no one else does, the first "The Word" segment in a long while, people being desperate for something in life with no further explanation, some mail including misunderstandings with Pete G. that we clear up, revisiting the Lick Five, the earliest songs from John and Paul, Tommy saying the word "but" a million times, a weak sauce solo, Becker's first day at the Beatles factory, if it's a good idea to have the third verse same as the first, and the teenage-inspired Paul song "I'll Follow the Sun.

We kick into episode 28 with a review of John Lennon's third book, the many pneumatic tubes at Blotto HQ, the end of the pandi, EP Scotty C's collection of speedos, our favorite authors, another instance when the sequel is better than the original, keeping your gerbils safe, the Beatles penchant for trains and Toblerone-shaped music players, making guitarmony an evergreen mystery word, an A-Paul-ogy, Tommy's discomfort with swearing when his uncle is listening, the Monkees chasing each other through hallways, the Dear John theme song, Eminem spoilers, and the song that probably inspired Charles Bukowski to put pen to paper, Paperback Writer.

We crack open year two with a reflection of the iconic artistic movement der Voorman Versteckte, a very early Magical Mystery Word, some discussion of our early days listening to indie rock, the introduction of our guest Travis Shettel from the rock band Piebald, who Piebald is and what the band has been up to in recent years, some more Magical Mystery Words, Golden Girls and Springsteen t-shirts, the beauty of a good diss track, asking Kurt Ballou from Converge to play your guitar solos when you can't, the Beatles role in the Chapel Hill punk scene of the 1990s, pogoing for three hours every night, impeccable dress shirts, a song that comes out Birdsy at first, some more Magical Mystery Words, Frank Sinatra's bird, Cynthia Lennon's bird, Mick Jagger's bird, an uncovering of meaning in the lyrics we've heard a million times, artists falling out of touch, saying the title of a Beatles song right after you do a shot, and the guitarmony-laden Revolver song "And Your Bird Can Sing."
As you will hear in this episode, Travis lamented that there wasn't a list of what he considered to be the greatest Piebald songs. After the episode, we asked him to correct that error. If you aren't familiar with Piebald, we recommend that you listen to Blotto Beatles Presents: Travis Shettel's Guide to Piebald.

Having just celebrated one year of Blotto, we wanted to stop for a moment a review and reflection. As you know, we are compiling the canonical, argument-ending list of Beatles songs from best to worst as we have a few drinks. Over the year there has been a little bit of internal discussion among Team Blotto as we asked ourselves, "Is the list as perfect as we think it is?"
The is the topic of conversation and we take on a little bit of a gameshow and a little bit of a debate to figure it out. Will everything stand at its current ranking? There's only one way to find out.

Our pod is 21 episodes old; we celebrate it's ability to drink legally in the US by discussing Ringo's influence on early American emo, Scotty's work on making podcasters essential, the Beatles DIY ethic, the similarities between the Beatles and DC postpunk stalwarts FUGAZI, the potential of doing a reverse alphabetical Beatles podcast, the potential of doing a podcast where we play Fugazi songs backwards, Ian's single malt scotch takes, Sir Walter Raleigh's level of gitness, the lost colony of Roanoke and its overall spookiness, Beatles pillow fights, a dip into the Fugazi "I'm So Tired" demo from the Instrument soundtrack, how weird it is that it is Fugazi's second most popular song, our first voicemail from a very prestigious guest caller, and the bed-based Beatles song, "I'm So Tired."

In episode 20 we begin with overwhelming gratitude to the Blotto Family and Blotto Scruffs for all you did to make our live virtual trivia fundraiser for ALS One such a success. At the time of this airing, we sit at just below $5,000 raised, which is a sum of money we never dreamed possible. If you would like to contribute, we will be accepting donations through our website and shop through the end of March, 2021.
From there we get into our usual nonsense by discussing the greatness and dynasty at the heart of Team Blotto, Becker's potential for a signature shoe, Tommy's favorite Star Trek episode, an invitation to Sam from Dogfish Head followed by an immediate insult, the Beatles other hair period, what Tommy's mom thought of GnR, the amazing cover to Beatles for Sale, Scott's role in the Newsies musical, and the trebly tune, "What You're Doing."
This one also includes what is maybe our best karaoke to date. You're welcome.

So here's the thing, y'all; we normally get right into our episode description, but -- if you listen to this one -- you will hear that we have a good friend fighting a mother effer of a disease in ALS. To that end, Blotto Beatles is hosting an event in support of the incredible nonprofit organization, ALS One - a live virtual trivia night on Friday, 2/26/21. For more info on how to play and donate, please visit https://www.blottobeatles.com/trivia. We would love to have you be part of something that is so important to us.
---
In Episode 19 we go deep into the Venn diagram that is the Beatles and WCW wrestling; a welcome to our guest and good bud, Tucker; a return of our good bud and new associate producer, Chris; the review of Chris' episode that just said "...at some point I was just listening to see if he would say guitar again;" Tucker's mom's hot takes on the Stones vs. the Beatles; some information on ALS and ALS One; yup, medicinal; Scotty's discomfort camping with
Tommy and Becker; Becker's discomfort with Tommy's new catchphrase "poo poos;" Tucker arguing that everyone poo poos; how the Beatles are for the children; and a discussion on the Rubber Soul song "In My Life" that hits moments of reflection, humor, sadness, honesty, and nostalgia. As Becker says in the episode, "This [one] is real."

We kick off episode 18 by discussing Paul McCartney's first time trying LSD; the Beatles as the original boy band; the introduction of our guest and dear friend, Samantha; Sam's DIY homemade pretzel necklaces; Becker's decidedly anti-Snyder's pretzel stance; how the Beatles created something for everyone with the song "Something;" which Beatle would kiss Tommy; Becker's decidedly anti-French horn stance; authentic friends talking about authentic Paul in authentic relationships; when Sam called us punk; Paul saying, "Let me sing a song about a raccoon;" super cool awesome cable knit sweater Paul McCartney; Ringo as Ikea; George as Bernie and Phil's; some more French horn talk; maybe our longest ranking discussion ever; and the relationship-based tune, "For No One."

Episode 16 is here and we kick things off by discussing Disney's newest IP purchase, Becker's disappointment with being nerdy about more than one thing, the first installment of "You Never Give Us Beer Money," a generous donation from listener Simon K, our first Black Velvets, why the Beatles were once called "the only band that matters," why Pilgrims were so small, if they made Ringo crouch down during the shoot for "With the Beatles," grumpy George Harrison, just a smattering of Michael J. Fox talk, a comparison between the bass innovation of McCartney and Mike Watt, Les is More Claypool, and the original George Harrison original "Don't Bother Me."

It's a holiday week, so we wanted to give the gift of an early release featuring our pod pals from Ranking the Beatles. In episode 15 we discuss the new super-duper group, the first time anyone has ever rewritten the lyrics of an existing song to be about the Beatles, the second time anyone has ever rewritten the lyrics of an existing song to be about the Beatles, real talk on what it means to start your own pandemic podcast based on the Beatles, how the word "cold" means very different things in Massachusetts and Louisiana, Becker really stretching out in his musical tastes as he introduces the Beatles, the third Gallagher brother - Gallagher Gallagher, an insufferable number of Oasis songs, the idea of hanging out in person, how fast Paul can sing, and the Beatles folk-twinged number "I've Just Seen a Face."

It's time for another Blotto Beatles chaser! We recently recorded an episode with author Chris McKittrick that won't be released for a few weeks, but Tuesday marked the release of Chris's new book SOMEWHERE YOU FEEL FREE, which centers on Tom Petty's connection to Los Angeles. We didn't want to let this auspicious occasion go by without giving you a taste of that conversation. Enjoy this segment as we discuss Chris's book, Petty, and the starship Enterprise.
