British Murders with Stuart Blues
In the ninth episode of British Murders Season 4, I tell the story of Peter Reeve and PC Ian Dibell.
On July 9, 2012, Reeve confronted his neighbour Trevor Marshall in Clacton-on-Sea and fired several handgun shots towards him.
Trevor was hit once in the leg and survived, but the same can’t be said for heroic police officer Ian Dibell.
Despite being off-duty at the time of the attack, PC Dibell attempted to disarm Reeve but was shot in the chest during the scuffle.
PC Dibell died almost instantly due to suffering fatal aorta damage.
Peter Reeve shot himself in the head the following morning at All Saints Church in the neighbouring village of Writtle.
