Hell on the East Coast: The Halifax Explosion

On Dec. 6, 1917, the collision of two ships in Halifax Harbour led to a 2.9 kiloton explosion that levelled Halifax, killed 2,000 and injured 9,000. It was the largest man-made explosion prior to the Atomic era.
