2006-09-17-1830 Pastor Loran Livingston talks this evening September 17, 2006 in the 6:30 service about how the Holy Spirit empowers us to speak with boldness.Scripture Ref: Acts 4:23-31; Matthew 25Topic: Live by Holy SpiritNotes:- Days after Pentecost, the people were filled with the spirit again- There is power with the infilling of the Holy Spirit, signs and wonders- Peter told the lame man to get up and walk; he was healed- Disciples told not to teach/preach in Jesus' name; Jesus is the controversy- When filled with the spirit, you are not ashamed, must tell people- The power stays with you; you are given opportunity to proclaim Jesus- People look for occurrences, the shaking of buildings, but the Spirit wants to change people; make them unashamed and unafraid- American Bible Society, chance to take printing presses into China- American Christians great at getting food, medical help, etc. but backed off of supplying the Word- Samaritan's Purse-only goes where they can preach the gospel- If you see a brother in need, "to the least of these, my brethren"- The church is called to preach the gospel, not just help people- People feel free to shout and praise in church but aren't winning souls- Muslims always speak of Allah and Muhammad (dead, lunatic), and will die and kill for them, but we have the truth, power, and authority
