Scripture: Philippians 1:12-14; Psalm 105:16-19; Jeremiah 48:11; Acts 16:22-26; James 1:2
Topic: Suffering
Notes:
- What impact has your reaction to your problems had on others?- God used people in trouble to write His word: Paul wrote as a prisoner chained to a praetorian guard- If it doesn’t come out of pain, it doesn’t produce- We all have trouble in our lives; somebody else’s pain is bigger- God’s plan is to bring Jesus into glory, that we follow Him, and that the gospel be increased- Statistics of Paul’s opportunities to minister to guards- American Christians are not suffering as those in other nations- People are looking for an example of the believer- Joseph... why am I going through this?- Do I believe what He said? Do I act like I believe?- What will I do in these chains?- We would rather be delivered from than developed in this- Moab at ease, settled on his dregs (not poured from vessel to vessel)- We want to be left alone but need to poured out again and again until nothing is left but wine- Paul & Silas praised the Lord anyway; there are prisoners all around... the greatest impact you’ll have is when you lift Him up
