CONNECTED PARENTING EPISODE 92 – Teens & Dating

14 min • 12 oktober 2022
The teen dating scene, has become extremely complicated both for them and us as parents. In fact by the time you listen to this, the scene may have even morphed and changed a little bit again. Social media of course has played a huge part in really complicating things for sure because teens have been given the ability to talk to a number of different people all at the same time. The novelty of these situations and conversations send out reward chemicals like, oxytocin and serotonin into the brain leaving teens with this incredible feeling they want to run on all the time. Unfortunately, that feeling starts to wane and like anyone else they want that feeling again and so off they go to talk to someone else and the cycle repeats itself with varying levels of connection in each situation with another teen. The whole constant, ongoing routine can get very complicated and confusing for everyone involved. This is why I wanted to have a conversation today about how we as a parent can guide our teenager through these rocky waters of relationship building and deeper connections with other teens so they come out on the other side healthier and happier with a better understanding of how relationships should work.   MEET JENNIFER KOLARI Jennifer Kolari is the host of the “Connected Parenting” weekly podcast and the co-host of “The Mental Health Comedy” podcast.
