On April 10, 1912, the Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage to travel from Southampton, England, to New York City. The vessel was dubbed the "Unsinkable Ship." However, after striking an iceberg, the ship did just that and sank in the early morning of April 15th, 1912. Over 2,208 passengers were in for a terrifying experience. Among the passengers were the American millionaire, John Jacob Astor IV and his wife, Madeleine Force Astor. Other passengers included industrialist, Benjamin Guggenheim, painter and sculptor, Francis Davis Miller, Macy's store owner, Isidor Straus, and his wife, Ida. In total, only 712 individuals survived the sinking of the Titanic & 1,496 perished in what would be known as one of the worst maritime disasters to this day.
