We discuss Peters' early history with music and technology , and how that lead a path to his initial explorations in synth programming and sound design , his continuing journey to working in Music Tech journalism , further adventures in sound design and programming , collaborating with companies like Kawai, Waldorf, Nord, and his eventual co-founding of his first company, Wizoo.

We cover the evolution of Wizoo, the partnership with Steinberg and joining Digidesign after it acquired Wizoo, which resulted in numerous innovative virtual instrument designs, concepts and technologies. We then move to the initial co-founding, concept and roll out of the first iteration of uJam in partnership with Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams, and how that eventually pivoted and evolved to the current company with its expanding and highly regarded virtual instrument lines.

DAW Evolution VIII : Tracktion - Past, Present, Future ! Hosted by Vin Curigliano of AAVIM Technology, I am joined by guest co-host Pete Brown of Microsoft and special guest Jules Storer who is the Founder and Lead Developer of Tracktion, now known as Tracktion Waveform, and also the developer of the JUCE programming framework. MIDI 2.0 : 40 Years in the Making ! Hosted by Vin Curigliano of AAVIM Technology , I am joined by guest co-host Pete Brown of Microsoft and also special guests, Andrew Mee , who is a MIDI 2.0 consultant to Yamaha, and Gary Daniels of Microsoft.  Andrew is the author of open source libraries, and also tools for certification for MIDI 2.0, as well as being Chair for the Developer Support Working Group for the MIDI Association. Gary is an Engineer on the Microsoft Audio Team, and is the architect of Windows MIDI Services, and primary developer for the Service, Driver and other cross-process communication, and the overall plugin architecture. Pete Brown is also pulling double duties on this show as a special guest for his extended role over and above his regular work on the Window Developer Platform Team. Pete is the creator of the Windows MIDI Services Project, client API, virtual MIDI, and applications, as well as being the Chair of the MIDI Associated Executive Board. We cover the History of MIDI 1.0 since its inception in 1983 , discuss the numerous extensions over the last 4 decades, and the limitations that are being addressed with MIDI 2.0. We give a detailed overview of MIDI 2.0, and clarify some confusing information in regards to the two "sides" of MIDI 2.0 ( MIDI CI and UMP ), cover backwards compatibility and what problems MIDI 2.0 will resolve for musical, audio and creative application. Music Tech Pioneers: Propellerhead : ReCycle to Reason !

Hosted by Vin Curigliano of AAVIM Technology, I am joined by guest co-host Pete Brown of Microsoft and special guest Ernst Nathorst-Böös, founder of Reason Studios, formerly known as Propellerhead Software.

We discuss Ernst history with music and computer technology , his previous involvement in MI and early experiences within the emerging Music Tech arena, which lead to the founding of the company that brought you Reason. We cover the early years with the successive releases of Recycle, ReBirth and Reason , each individually changing the game at their respective points, and the cult like status that the software achieved with artist, producers and the general Music Tech community.

We explore the company's unique approach to keeping the coding closed and in house, and for the longest time not expanding to supporting 3rd party plugin formats, instead developing their own with Rack Extensions , while also developing formats like .rex and ReWire which were widely adopted though out the industry. We also discuss the community involvement and cover the shifting landscape of forums and social media regards how companies are communicating and staying connected with their end users. We also share some thoughts on the current state of Music Tech, and much more.

DAW Evolution V : Ardour - Past , Present , Future ! Hosted by Vin Curigliano of AAVIM Technology, I am joined by guest co-host Pete Brown of Microsoft and special guest Paul Davis, who is the Founder and Lead Developer of Ardour. We discuss Paul's early history with computers, technology and coding , and how that lead a path to his involvement and focus in open source, and the eventual development of Ardour. We cover the history and the ongoing challenges of maintaining the unique position of allowing access to the complete source code , and the challenges of managing the development with the wider scope of potential contributors to the code. We cover Ardours original development on Linux and its porting to both OSX and Windows, we discuss the challenges of running a Professional DAW application under Linux over Mac or Windows, navigating plugin and low latency driver formats, and the ongoing challenge of motivating 3rd party plugin developers to port natively to Linux. We take a deep dive into the various milestone versions of Ardour, navigate the complexities of musical time vs audio time, discuss multiprocessing and multithreading routines and performance, hybrid playback engines, etc. We cover Pauls work with 3rd party corporate interests where Ardour is the driving engine behind products like Waves Tracks Live and Harrison Mix Bus.
