My guest Scoot McNairy has been in the acting game for years.

He's had an incredible career so far but it wasn't always smooth sailing.

Today he returns to the show after 12 years and we catch up on his life.

Scoot is known for his roles in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Monsters, Argo, Killing Them Softly, 12 Years a Slave, Gone Girl, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In television, he starred in the AMC period drama Halt and Catch Fire, True Detective, Narcos: Mexico, and the Netflix western miniseries Godless.

This man is not only a working actor he is also a friend and a motorcycle enthusiast which is really how we hit it off years and years ago.

Today I sit down with Todd Mayo owner of one of the coolest concert venues in the world.

Years ago a friend sent me a YouTube clip of The Chris Robinson Brotherhood playing at

one of the most insane venues I had ever seen. It looked like the band was playing on Mars.

I had never seen this venue so I dug in and did some research and found out it was called The Caverns, located in Grundy County Tennessee.

This venue was created by my guest Todd Mayo and it quickly became a destination venue.

Everyone has played there including Chris Stapleton, Lucinda Williams, Billy Strings and more.

There are a handful of absolute magical venues in the world, Red Rocks, The Gorge, Hollywood Bowl, The Sphere and now The Caverns.

Todd Sits down with me for an In-Depth conversation on exactly how this place came to be.

Not only has Todd created one of the coolest venues in the world he also created an Emmy Award winning TV show on PBS called The Cavern Sessions.

Todd has a book coming out in Sept called Caveman Chronicles that I can honestly say is a must read.

Today I sit down with legendary drummer Chris Slade.

Chris started out his professional career at 16 years old playing drums for Tom Jones. From there he became a founding member of Manfred Mann's Earth Band recording 8 studio albums from 1972 to 1978. 

After a 1 year tour with the great David Gilmour another legend Jimmy Page called him to join the super group The Firm.

Most people really know Chris from his time in AC/DC recording and touring on the smash hit record The Razors Edge. That record was loaded with hits including Thunderstuck, Moneytalks and Are You Ready.

After the return of Phil Rudd, Chris moved on and played in his own group until 2015 when he was asked to return to AC/DC after Phil Rudd had legal problems.

This women's story is absolutely incredible and very dark and the Doc pulls No Punches.

The Words come from an unpublished memoir Pallenberg wrote before her death in 2017, narration voiced by Scarlett Johansson.

Years ago I saw one of the best leather jackets ever and had to find out where to get one.

Turns out it was made by hand in NYC by non other than Jordan Betten at Lost Art Leathers.

We quickly became friends and I started my collection.

Everyone in the music world was wearing his jackets from Lenny Kravitz to Willie Nelson.

After 20 years Jordan walked away from leather and started building custom made Choppers in Miami at Rasta Choppers.

Today I do a full deep dive into Custom Guitars with Luthier Greg DeLuis.

Greg makes some of the most incredible hand made guitars in the tradition of master luthier Doug Irwin.

If you have seen Jerry Garcia's guitars like Tiger, Wolf or Rosebud you know that these are not some off the shelf store bought guitars.

The amount of detail and work put into building those guitars is almost a forgotten craft.

Greg continues the tradition even hand cutting all the inlay himself.

8 years in the making my guest Director, Peter Dowd follows a man around that is absolutely obsessed with Jimmy Page.

The first time Akio Sakurai hears Led Zeppelin as a teenager, and then laid eyes on the band in The Song Remains the Same, the group's 1976 concert documentary, Sakurai has had one mission in life: to demonstrate his adoration of Zeppelin founder Jimmy Page. He is completely candid about this: "I want to be Jimmy Page," he remembers thinking.

The film is an amazing Document of what it's like to dive way down a rabbit hole. Passion is in full effect here.

I consider the US Festival the greatest Rock Fest every besides Woodstock.

Kingston-upon-Hull’s The Black Delta Movement return with their stunning new album ‘Recovery Effects’ – 8 tracks of immersive, groove-heavy psychedelic rock released April 14th 2023 on Fuzz Club Records. Determination and a commitment to musical development are writ large across Matt Burr’s personal and artistic journey as the main creative force behind The Black Delta Movement. His most collaborative work yet, ‘Recovery Effects’ sees Matt recruiting highly lauded UK guitar-slinger and Little Barrie frontman Barrie Cadogan and bandmates Lewis Wharton (Bass) and Tony Coote (Drums) to provide musical backing on the album. With legendary producer, The Heliocentrics’ co-founder and drummer extraordinaire Malcolm Catto also helming production duties. “The album’s a love letter to the band and all the emotions that come with it,” explains Matt when talking about the period of adversity that led to its creation. Finding himself without his former bandmates following the release of their highly-praised 2018 debut ‘Preservation’ and that record’s subsequent live shows, the pandemic-induced lockdown periods throughout ’20 and ’21 initially gave time for reflection before proving to be a time of productivity. Giving Matt the breathing space to fine-tune the new songs alongside Cadogan before hitting the ground running when entering the studio in late 2021 – the band cutting the basic tracks live and Malcolm Catto providing invaluable input when it came to moulding the music you hear contained throughout The results of this creative melting pot of such talented and seasoned musicians see The Black Delta Movement delivering that ring thing: a layered, honest and deeply entertaining rock’n’roll record. There are a myriad of moods and textures, whether on the garage-blues grooves of opener and first single ‘Fourth Pass Over The Graveyard’, follow-up single ‘Zip-Tie’ which explodes from its moody intro into punk-rock motorik, or the psychedelic slow-burn of ‘Hiding In The Tall Grass’ which manages to channel the likes of The Doors and Spacemen 3 over its 9 hypnotic minutes.

If you don't know who Jimmy is he is an absolute genius in the Animation world.

Jimmy has worked on Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc. Finding Nemo, Shrek 2 and so much more.

He is also a full on Rock n Roller with his band Legend Of The Seagullman with Brent Hinds of Mastodon and Danny Carey of Tool.

Jimmy has been hit with a very rare form of Skin Cancer and needs our help.

You ever wonder how people start driving Musicians around the United States in a tour bus then this episode is for you.

Tour bus driving is a stressful job and a really good driver is hard to come by.

Some bands keep the same driver for years when they find a good one and Jason is one of the best.

Jason has driven some of the biggest stars in the biz including Lucinda Williams, Drake and Marcus King.

Kaya Stewart has been writing and recording songs since she was 13 years old. Sure Dave Stewart of Eurythmics is her Dad but that doesn't guarantee talent or success and she knows that.

After a song she wrote and recorded blew up on Soundcloud, records labels started knocking on her door. 

Soon she found herself on Warner Brothers Records and out on the Vans Warped Tour but it wasn't all dreamy.

Kaya decided to start over and do things her way. During the Pandemic she was diagnosed with OCD which was the catalyst to write the collection of songs that make up her new album IF THINGS GO SOUTH which was co-written and co-produced by Dave Stewart.

The record comes out Sept 30th and will be available on all streaming platforms.

Kaya has an incredible voice and is a great songwriter and I really dig some of the songs on her new album.

11 years ago when I started this show I made a list of Dream Guest and Gene was at the top.

This man completely changed my life in 1977 and is 100 percent the reason I pursued a life in the Arts.

Over 660 episodes of Let There Be Talk and 80 percent of them all said Kiss is the reason they started playing music.

Today my friend Marcus King stops by the show to talk all about his new album Young Blood coming out Aug 26th on American Recordings.

I have loved this mans music from the first day I heard him and can not stop telling people about him.

Marcus and I dive into whats been going on with him over the last couple of years including working with Dan Auerbach again in the studio, co-writing with Desmond Child and our Rock and Comedy tour that is about to start in Sept.

King has been an outlier from the very beginning. A fourth generation musician from Greenville, SC, who learned guitar at age 3 from his blues rock musician father Marvin King. He navigated troublesome school years to quickly become known as one of the most promising young artists of our time. He followed breakout success with The Marcus King Band, with his Auerbach produced 2020 solo album debut, El Dorado. It garnered a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Americana Album” and critical praise from The New York Times to NPR’s Weekend Edition. With unparalleled performance prowess and a dynamic live show, King has sold out historic venues from The Beacon to The Filmore. He has opened for Chris Stapleton, Greta Van Fleet and Nathaniel Rateliff and graced the bills of Stagecoach, Fuji Rock, Rock Werchter and more. Thommy is best know as the groove behind Joan Jett and The Blackhearts but early on he played with Scandal recording the hit song The Warrior.

From Scandal Thommy joined Billy Idol and recorded the Hit record Rebel Yell which exploded all over radio and MTV.

Thommy spent a few years with Billy Idol touring all over the world before settling into The Blackhearts for 28 years.

This mans stories are amazing.

Today my guest is Ben Thatcher drummer of the band Royal Blood.

At the age of 10 years old this man was playing drums in a church band every week in front of 300 people. Soon after he discovered the Red Hot Chili Peppers record Blood Sugar Sex Magic and more specifically Chad Smiths funky grooves and it changed his life.

Ben started the 2 piece band Royal Blood with Mike Kerr and quickly went in and did some demos that found there way onto Soundcloud where Warner Brothers records discovered them and signed them to a record deal.

With 3 records out and a new single right now called Honeybrains this band is just getting bigger and better.

Right now they are on a UK Arena tour and are about to start a US tour April 19th 2022 in Detroit.

Make sure you go back and listen their 2021 record Typhoons. I highly recommend it.

Cade and I dive into how the band got started, His first guitar and his love for Kurt Cobain.

Today we have the great blues guitarist Eric Gales talking all about his new album produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith called Crown which is out right now on all the streaming platforms.

Eric signed a record deal back when he was 15 years old and found fame over night but with that fame came trouble with drugs and for the next 30 years he was completely out of the game.

5 years ago Eric got clean and it has been a comeback story that will inspire even the most jaded.

Today we have the fantastic, Singer Songwriter Mike Reno of Loverboy on the show.

This band dropped their debut record in 1980 and immediately dominated FM Radio with massive hits like The Kid Is Hot Tonight and Turn Me Lose. Then in 1981 they drop another massive record Get Lucky and become complete superstars touring with massive bands like Journey and ZZ Top and it did not stop for them for years.

Mike and I dive into the history of the band from opening for Kiss on the Dynasty tour, Working with Bruce Fairbairn and Bob Rock and of course that epic 1982 Day On The Green in Oakland with Iron Maiden, Scorpions and Foreigner.  

Loverboy still to this day can be heard everywhere including major sporting events, TV series and commercials and all day long on classic rock radio. They currently have a brand new single out called Release and a huge summer tour booked with REO Speedwagon and Styx.

Over the years I would go on to see this band many times and I was always fascinated with the lead singer Fee Waybill. He is such an electric frontman and I feel like this band is massively underrated.

Today I sit down in the box office of one of the greatest Rock n Roll venues in America the Cow Palace located in San Francisco.

I recently was up in the Bay Area doing some Stand Up Comedy and Andrew Shreve reached out and said he works at the Cow Palace and asked if I would like to come take a tour and maybe do a podcast in the venue. I screamed YES YES YES and headed over to the venue for a full on tour of the very building that gave me all my Rock n Roll memories. 

I know the building inside and out but to be able to sit down and hear the History from Andrew and Jeff Ewald was next level.

Everyone has that classic memory of some great concert they went to but take a second and think about the venue. So many of these classic venues are gone now unfortunately. The stories the Cow Palace walls could tell would be insane.

Jeff and I sat down in the legendary Box Office of the Cow Palace surrounded by a who's who of Autographs on the walls and dove into the history of this incredible Venue.

This was a dream come true and they even had my name on the Marque.

Today I sit down with a legend in the Music Merch world Mr Norman Perry president of Perryscope Productions.

Norman started out back in his early teens booking bands at the High School dances eventually working his way up to be one of the great Canadian concert promoters. 

In 1980 he was the Promoter for the AC/DC Back In Black tour through Canada so that right away made me want to talk to him but there is so much more.

Norman went from Concert Promotion to Concert Merchandiser working with another legend Michael Cohl at a company called Brockum.

These days Norman has an incredible company called Perryscope Productions where they do Music Licensing for acts like Pink Floyd, AC/DC, The Band, Bon Scott, Genesis, Miles Davis and so much more.

Today on a brand new episode of Let There Be Talk by guest is the incredible Byron Katie.

Byron was 43 with three children and unhappily married to her second husband. She suffered from depression, agoraphobia, overeating and addiction to codeine and alcohol. She called her insurance company for help, and was referred to Hope House in Los Angeles a women's counseling center.

After two weeks at the house, she reportedly experienced an epiphany in her thinking which created a way for her to challenge and lessen the harmful effects of long-held beliefs. She credited the epiphany, which became known as "The Work" for a subsequent weight loss and other reductions in bad habits.

Byron has helped so many people in this world and maybe she can help you.

In 1995 I stepped into the Fillmore in San Francisco and witnessed one of the greatest live performances I've ever seen by a man named Terence Trent D'Arby. Shortly after that concert that man disappeared from the music business or so I thought. Around 8 years ago I did a Google search and found out that he had changed his name and had been making music for years under his new name Sananda Maitreya.

I can't even tell you how excited I was to find all this music I hadn't heard.

Sananda released a new double album last Friday, March 19th 2021  called Pandora's Playhouse and it great.

Sanand was an absolute dream guest and I know you guys are going to dig this Honest conversation on all things Art.

Today on a brand new episode of Let There Be Talk my guest is the legend Geoff Tate former Vocalist and Songwriter of Queensrÿche.

In 1983 a song came of the radio called Queen Of The Reich and the game changed. Immediately I went out and bought the Queensrÿche EP and never stopped listening to them.

Over the years Geoff and the band have written some of the best Metal records ever including their masterpiece Operation Mindcrime.

This mans vocals have inspired 1000's of singers over our time and I gotta say it was an absolute honer to have him on the show.

Geoff has a new record coming out in April with Sweet Oblivion called Relentless.

Today one of my oldest friends stops by Mr Eric Peterson of Testament.

I fully believe that Eric is the most underrated Guitarist and Songwriter in the Thrash Metal scene. This man has been rocking in Testament for 35 years and also has a 2nd band called Dragonlord.

Testament's last release in 2020 Titans Of Creation is one of their heaviest in Years.

Today on episode #580 my guest is Gary Numan a Legend and Pioneer in Electronic Music.

In the 70's I heard Gary Numan, Devo and Kraftwerk and it completely changed my life. Of course I was into Rock n Roll but Gary opened my eyes and ears to Art. This music helped me explore all types of musical styles and really shaped who I am now.

Gary has a new record coming out in May called Intruder and I cannot recommend it enough. Also go back and listen to some of his newer music from the last 20 years. Albums like Savage, and Splinter will blow your mind.

Monday Jan,11th 2021 I woke up to some awful news that the great Jeff Scott, Comedy Store Piano player had passed away.

This is a massive loss to our Comedy Store Family and Friends.

I will never forget his great laugh and spirit behind the keyboards every night in the Original Room.

7 1/2 years ago he was a guest on my podcast and had some incredible stories that I feel should be shared again today.

RIP Jeff Scott I will never forget you.

R. J.  has done some amazing work over the years and in February 2021 he will be debuting his new Billie Eilish documentary on Apple TV.

Baron was the frist photographer for Rolling Stone Magazine, He shot Woodstock and some of the greatest Day On The Green Photos ever.

October 6th 2020 we lost the greatest of all time

Mr Edward Van Halen.

If you listen to music in the last 60 years chances are some of your favorite records were recorded right in Los Angeles at the legendary Sunset Sound Recording Studio.

The list of artist that recorded in this studio is insane.

Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Van Halen, Prince, Elton John, The Rolling Stones the list goes on and on.

It was an honor to sit down with the owner Paul Camarata and hear the history of this building and how it came about.

Paul's father Tutti open the studio 60 years ago and started out recording everything for Walt Disney including the music for some of the Rides. Quickly the studio became the hot room in Hollywood know for it's incredible selection of amazing vintage gear and amazing house engineers.

Back in the mid 90's a couple of records came out that absolutely blew my mind. Part Time Goes Full and Shoot Out by one of my favorite bands The Mother Hips.

They were both on Rick Rubin's label American Records and at some point went out of Print meaning you could not buy them or even Stream them. But now that has all changed as of last week they are available to stream everywhere.

Today I sit down with Tim and talk about those early days and the recording and writing process of those 2 masterpieces.

Today I sit down with one of my favorite guitar players from the Bay Area Mr Gary Pihl.

Gary has been playing professionally for almost his entire life.

I first saw Gary back around late 1979 when he was playing guitar in Sammy Hagar's band.

Gary immediately became one of my favorite players back then with his Gibson SG Special. I must have seen Gary play in Sammy's band 10 times in and around the Bay Area. I never missed Hagar live all the way up until he joined Van Halen.

After Sammy joined Van Halen Gary was asked by Tom Scholz to join Boston and he's been in the band since 1986.

Gary's story is fantastic and I think you guys are really gonna dig this episode.
