The message of the Gospel is attacked every day by restless efforts and empty philosophies of this world. That is why Defending Christianity isn’t about making meaningless arguments or attempting to provoke empty debates– it is about preserving the redeeming message of the cross of Christ by using logic and reason to communicate why Christianity best explains reality. Also, please check out the Defending Christianity Blog (defendingchristianityblog.org) for articles on all things related to Christianity and Apologetics!
The podcast Defending Christianity Podcast is created by Levi Dade. The podcast and the artwork on this page are embedded on this page using the public podcast feed (RSS).
With the direction that our culture is going, it’s no surprise that students raised in a Christian home for most or all of their lives are leaving the faith once they go to college. Young people in the church have been told to “just have faith” their entire lives.
But what happens when social media provides them with what seems to be good reasons to believe that God doesn’t exist? Who will they listen to after a while? After all, most high school and college students spend more time on social media a week than they do at church. What’s going to happen when they don’t have the answers they need because their church told them that they shouldn’t ask questions? The responsibility to equip our students with answers to intellectually ground their faith falls on the church and the parents.
Today, Stand to Reason’s Tim Barnett joins the show once more, and we’ll discuss engaging the minds of our students, what that looks like, and some ways to start doing it, so parents, pastors, youth pastors, Sunday school teachers, and anyone who has some influence over students in our churches listen up because this one is for you.

Many might be surprised to hear that there is a lot of debate surrounding the messages of Jesus and Paul. Some scholars will attest that the two messages are at odds with one another. Is this the case? What implications does that have for the Christian faith if it's true? That’s going to be our topic for today, and to discuss it I have Dr. Marvin Pate.
Specifically, in relation to the Apostle Paul, Dr. Pate has written books including The End of the Age Has Come: The Theology of Paul and Apostle of the Last Days. I will leave links in the description below for those who want to check out Dr. Pate’s books.

When you look at what skeptics are saying about the Christian faith, often you will hear the argument that Jesus never claimed to be God. In this episode, we are going to be talking about how Jesus claimed to be divine in order to show that he really did make the claim.
We have Mikel Del Rosario joining us to talk about the subject. Mikel helps Christians explain their faith with courage and compassion. He’s a doctoral student in the New Testament department at Dallas Theological Seminary, and he is the author of Accessible Apologetics. Mikel also serves as Cultural Engagement Manager at the Hendricks Center, as well as co-host of the Table Podcast for DTS.

The culture's hostility toward God, Christians, and the Bible has rapidly increased in the last 20-30 years. This has caused confusion in the Church concerning how it engages. Lucky for us, there’s been a game-changer of a book written on the topic of cultural engagement to help the Church see what biblical cultural engagement looks like. The book is Culture Intelligence: Living for God in a Diverse, Pluralistic World and was written by Dr. Darrell Bock, who also happens to be our guest today in this two-part episode!
Dr. Darrell Bock is Executive Director of Cultural Engagement at the Hendricks Center for Leadership and Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary.

Why should we even care about the culture’s ever-increasing skepticism about God, Christianity, and the Bible? If you’re a parent this should be easy to answer. You will one day, if you haven’t already, send your child out into the world where they will be exposed to this culture. Don’t you think it’s pretty important that before you send them out on their own to equip them with logical reasons for why Christianity is true and good?
Our guest today is Dr. Frank Turek, who is the President of CrossExamined.org, a non-profit ministry that conducts I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist seminar on college campuses, churches, and high schools. In this episode, Dr. Turek and I are going to be discussing how we can know Christianity is true by looking at two of the four questions which come from the book I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist

In this episode, I'm at American Family Association in Tupelo, Mississippi interviewing Kendra White, the director of the documentary In His Image: Delighting in God’s Plan for Gender and Sexuality. The documentary was produced by American Family Studios, division of AFA, and it’s a special film because of the beautiful presentation of the healing Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone who is hurting and confused either by the church or in the church.
Kendra White is the director of In His Image and producer at American Family Studios. Kendra has produced a wide variety of resources to inspire, uplift, and encourage Christian families.

One of the biggest blockades which keep people from accepting the idea of God's existence is science. Do science and Christianity contradict? Is there any scientific proof of God's existence? How can we be sure? Today, Dr. Fuz Rana from Reasons to Believe will be with us today. Fazale Rana is the vice president of research and apologetics at Reasons to Believe. He is the author of several groundbreaking books, including Humans 2.0, Who Was Adam, Creating Life in the Lab, and The Cell’s Design. How did the spread of Christianity today come to be? Who's to credit for it? Specifically, did women play a part? If so, how can we take it and see how God uses women the way he uses men to further his Kingdom? Are women excluded or included in his mission?
Today, Dr. Lynn Cohick, Professor of New Testament at Denver Seminary, is here to answer these important questions.
A short story of the inspiration of Defending Christianity Podcast.
Michael Jones is with us to shed some light on questions people have had for years. Why are there contradictions in the Bible? Literally this issue is the reason some don't decide to believe in the authority and integrity of the Bible, so for anyone who has questions about these or had friends with questions about these, you may want to tune in! Also, why are the Gospels order the events in them differently? Does this count as contradicting from one another? How can we rely on their eye witness testimonies? We need answers. Michael Jones provides them.
Also, I apologize for the few times there's some not-so-great quality during the interview as I am back at school and am not able to record in the same setting as in the past! Enjoy! :)

How can Christians have a conversation with someone who thinks being good is enough to get to Heaven without making them feel judged or offended? How can we see who we are as people in the context of having sinned against our Creator? Today, we're back with Dr. Richard Howe for Part 2 of 'Is Jesus the Only Way to Heaven?'

God is too loving of a God to send good people to Hell, right? Can't we get to Heaven by doing good things like feeding the homeless and donating money to cancer patients? Does Jesus hold the ONLY key to Heaven? Why? Today, we're with Dr. Richard Howe to figure out what being a good person really says about ourselves, what it takes to go to Heaven, and why it matters.
Dr. Howe is Professor of Philosophy and Apologetics at Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Howe has a BA in Bible from Mississippi College, an MA in Philosophy from the University of Mississippi, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Arkansas.
We are living in a progressive society. From old ways of living and thinking to new ways, can we be sure this 2,000 year old book is still essential today? What about the cultural gap? How can we know this is still what the Living God has to say to us? If it is still essential, can't we all just be content with living whatever way we want as long as it makes us happy? Today, we are with Dr. Ben Witherington III as he answers these questions along with discussing other related issues. Ben Witherington III is an American New Testament scholar. Witherington is Professor of New Testament Interpretation at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky, and an ordained pastor in the United Methodist Church.
In this episode, Dr. Craig Blomberg joins us and discusses how the New Testament Canon came to be what it is today and how we can know its validity as what God would want us to have!

Today we are with Dr. Darrell Bock, New Testament Scholar and Professor at Dallas Theological Seminary. Dr. Bock answers some questions about the Gospels, their authors, what we know about Jesus, and talks some about the Apocrypha.
