Poenari Castle is a ruined fortress located in Romania, perched high on a cliff overlooking the Argeș River. It is historically associated with Vlad the Impaler, the 15th-century ruler of Wallachia who inspired Bram Stoker's character Dracula and is sometimes referred to as "Dracula's real castle.
