DTVC Extra 37, The Rambo Franchise, "First Blood," "Rambo: First Blood Part II" and "Rambo III"

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some weeks in addition to the main podcast. In this episode we're starting our look at the Rambo franchise with "First Blood," "Rambo: First Blood Part II," and "Rambo III." For the first one, I look at why this one works so well, and what Stallone's career was like before it. For the next one, I get into how this film helped create the action ecosystem of the mid-80s to the mid-90s, and how it spawned a bunch of DTV clones shot in the Philippines. Finally with the third, I get into where this was off in terms of the Soviet war in Afghanistan, and how that affected its reception.
