On this episode of Éirevision, Conor and Lou share their thoughts on the latest entries revealed for Eurovision 2024. Over the last week, SEVEN countries revealed their representatives for Eurovision 2024 and in today's episode, we'll be chatting about: Switzerland, Netherlands, Cyprus, and Austria.
We found Nemo! Switzerland unveiled Nemo and the song "The Code" as their selection for Malmö after an internal competition. Nemo is a non-binary Swiss rapper, singer, and musician and their song "The Code" is about the journey they started with the realization that they are neither a man nor a woman.
The Netherlands announced in December 2023 that Joost Klein would represent them and we've finally gotten his song! "Europapa" is about an orphan who travels throughout Europe to find himself and tell his story and is a tribute to his father.
Back in September 2023, the Cypriot broadcaster announced Cypriot-Australian singer, dancer, and actress Silia Kapsis for Eurovision 2024. After months of anticipation, "Liar" was released to the public. Since 2015, Cyprus has qualified for the final seven times, and failed only once in 2022. Silia will be hoping to continue their success but will she be able to?
Finally, Friday saw Austria officially unveil techno-pop inspired song, "We Will Rave" by Kaleen. She has Eurovision experience too as at Eurovision 2018, Kaleen was the step-in singer during rehearsals for many countries. In 2021 and 2022 she took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest as creative director. She was even a stand-in during rehearsals for Ireland's very own, Sophie Lennon!
