In the midst of our civilizational crisis, Eternal Christendom exists to cultivate a new generation of Saints, Sages, and Statesmen through the Great Tradition.
Whether you’re a lifelong Catholic looking for a deeper understanding of your faith, or a non-Catholic curious about the Catholic Church, Eternal Christendom aims to make the case for the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Catholic Faith.
For non-Catholics, we challenge to invite. For Catholics, we teach to unite.
The podcast Eternal Christendom Podcast is created by Joshua Charles. The podcast and the artwork on this page are embedded on this page using the public podcast feed (RSS).
CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION OF CHRISTENDOM
In this third Lenten episode, we read St. Augustine's Sermon 207, delivered during Lent approximately 1,600 years ago. We then offer an exhortation based on his words to finish Lent strong by taking up Christ's cross this Holy Week as we approach the paschal joy of Easter.
Thank you to the Catholic University of America Press, who has given Eternal Christendom permission to read from their "Fathers of the Church" series for our podcast.

In these dark times, we must fight evil with the most powerful weapons we have.
The Rosary is foremost among them.

The Great Rosary Campaign is a yearlong mission for the conversion of cultural leaders. We will announce a weekly call to pray every Sunday for specific fallen-away Catholics and non-Catholics.
THIS WEEK of the Great Rosary Campaign, Holy Week 2025, we are praying for the conversion of the Jewish people to the Catholic Faith.
The SUGGESTED PENANCE this week is a 24 hour water fast (adjusted per your circumstances).
Countless Saints and Popes have told us that the Rosary is incredibly powerful for three things in particular:
The Great Rosary Campaign is also based on several biblical themes and principles.
First, PRAY FOR OUR BRETHREN. “Pray for one another…” (Jas. 5:16). “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Gal. 6:10).
Second, PRAY FOR OUR ENEMIES. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven" (Matt. 5:43-44).
Third, PRAY FOR ALL MEN, PARTICULARLY LEADERS AND THOSE IN AUTHORITY. “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, or kings and all who are in high positions…” (1 Tim. 2:1-2).
Fourth, GOING INTO BATTLE WITH THE ARK. When the ancient Israelites came to Jericho, God didn't tell them to besiege the city. Instead, He told them to march around it with the Ark of the Covenant seven times, and on the seventh the walls would fall. We will now "march" in prayer for seven days with the New Ark of the Covenant, Our Lady, through the Rosary. We pray in hope that on the seventh day, a day especially devoted to Our Lady (Saturday), extraordinary graces of conversion will be given to those we are praying for.
Fifth, EVANGELISM AND APOLOGETICS = LOVE + ARGUMENTS + PRAYER + PENANCE. Ultimately it is God who reveals Himself to a soul, and empowers them to say "yes" to Him by His grace. He chooses to use us, but He does not have to. We must remember that as we evangelize and defend the Faith, our arguments will be fruitless unless informed by love (charity), and reinforced by prayer and penance.
Sixth, RETURNING GOOD FOR EVIL. “Do not return evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing" (1 Pet. 3:9).

THIS WEEK of the Great Rosary Campaign we are praying for Joe Rogan, the world's most popular podcaster.

In this second Lenten episode, we read St. Augustine's Sermon 206, delivered during Lent approximately 1,600 years ago. We then offer our thoughts on this great Church Father's words about the kinds of sacrificial suffering Christ demands of us, and are necessary for our salvation.

CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION OF CHRISTENDOM
I'm honored to present a special interview of my sister, Nancy Charles, about her miraculous conversion to the Catholic Faith (we apologize for some minor tech issues we had with some of my audio).
After the divorce of our parents, drugs, suicide attempts, and falling into the LGBTQ+ lifestyle, Christ illuminated my sister's mind and touched her heart on March 19, 2023 at a Latin Mass. She came into the Church on September 29, 2023, the Feast of her patron saint, St. Michael the Archangel.
The Rosary and Eucharistic Adoration played a huge role in her conversion, as it has for many members of our family who have now come into the Church.
Nancy is now working full-time for Eternal Christendom, doing so much behind the scenes to build this apostolate on solid foundations. Please remember her in your prayers, and consider including us in your Lenten almsgiving!

CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION OF CHRISTENDOM
On this Ash Wednesday, in the humbling and penitential spirit of Lent, we are publishing our first audio-only episode.
Thanks to the Catholic University of America Press, who has given Eternal Christendom permission to read from their "Fathers of the Church" series for our podcast, we are going to read Sermon 205, delivered by St. Augustine at the beginning of Lent approximately 1,600 years ago. We will then offer some reflections on both the sermon, and an exhortation to a sacrificial Lent, the season in which we most actively join ourselves to the sacrifice of Our Lord on the cross.

CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION OF CHRISTENDOM
As protestants, we'd sometimes say one of the ancient Creeds, including the line affirming a belief in the "one, holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church." This always confused me, since we weren't Catholic.
To get around this, I was frequently told that "Catholic" in the Creeds referred to "little c" catholic, a generalized reference to all, or most Christians.
But when I dug into the writings of the Church Fathers, the men who wrote and defended the Creeds, I found absolutely nothing like this "little c" idea of the "catholic church." They everywhere asserted and defended only the "Big C" Catholic Church: a single, visible society possessing a unity of faith, worship, and government.

THIS WEEK of the Great Rosary Campaign we are praying for Usha Vance, the Second Lady of the United States (wife of Vice President JD Vance).
The SUGGESTED PENANCE this week is a Holy Hour (Adoration) before the Holy Eucharist.
Countless Saints and Popes have told us that the Rosary is incredibly powerful for three things in particular:
1. Keeping the Faith
2. Moral renovation
3. Conversions of non-Catholics

THIS WEEK of the Great Rosary Campaign we are praying for the famous protestant apologist, James White. Prior to my conversion, I turned to James and his debates with Catholics to hopefully bring me back from the edge. But instead, I saw that the Catholic arguments were simply stronger, and much of what I had learned from the Church and the Church Fathers was being misrepresented. So I have a particular desire that James come to the fullness of truth in the Catholic Faith!
The SUGGESTED PENANCE this week is a 24 hour water fast (adjust as needed per your circumstances).

CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION OF CHRISTENDOM
In our first full-length interview, we host Dr. Alan Fimister, a renowned theologian and seminary professor, to discuss his conversion to the Catholic Faith from atheism, and why he found protestantism so unconvincing. Not only did he find it unconvincing, he concluded it played a decisive role in the rise of secularism. We also discuss issues of political theology, Christendom, and the rise of liberalism (both "left" and "right" wing varieties).
Dr. Fimister is a member of Eternal Christendom's Advisory Board. We hope to host him as a regular guest on the Eternal Christendom Podcast. You can find his bio here: https://eternalchristendom.com/advisory-board/

CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION
In this Papal Snapshot, we dive into St. Jerome's incredibly Catholic view of the papacy and the authority of the Pope as outlined in his Letter 15 to St. Pope Damasus. St. Jerome was a Church Father who lived from c. 342-420, and is widely considered one of the greatest Scripture scholars of the ancient Church.

CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION
This is our first episode dealing with the so-called "Apocrypha," the 7 books of the Bible rejected by protestants, but accepted by the Catholic Church.
In this episode, I recount reading the words of the Book of Wisdom—a book I had always considered part of the "Apocrypha" as a protestant—and being astounded by how accurately Wisdom 2 predicted the crucifixion of Our Lord and its circumstances. To me, it was as clear, if not clearer, than the prophecy found in Isaiah 53, which I considered to be one of the proofs of the divine origin of the Old Testament.
This prophecy helped open the door for me to consider the possibility I had been wrong about the "Apocrypha," and that it actually was part of the Bible, as the Catholic Church taught.

The Great Rosary Campaign is a yearlong mission for the conversion of cultural leaders. We will announce a weekly call to pray every Sunday for specific fallen-away Catholics and non-Catholics.
THIS WEEK of the Great Rosary Campaign we are praying for the former "mega-church" pastor Francis Chan, a well-known protestant leader who, the last several years, seems to be getting much closer to the Catholic Church thanks to the Eucharist.
The SUGGESTED PENANCE this week is attending a Holy Hour (Adoration) before the Blessed Sacrament, and requesting the intercession of St. Francis de Sales, who was a great 16th century Saint who helped many protestants come back to the Church. May his intercession help Francis Chan do the same! Countless Saints and Popes have told us that the Rosary is incredibly powerful for three things in particular: 1. Keeping the Faith 2. Moral renovation 3. Conversions of non-Catholics The Great Rosary Campaign is also based on several biblical themes and principles.

CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION
This is the first episode in our new series, "The Foolishness of God: The End Times." The term "foolishness of God" comes from St. Paul, who said "the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men" (1 Cor. 1:25). He was speaking about the Passion of Our Lord, which the Church teaches is a type of the end times Passion of the Church (see the Catholic Catechism, paragraphs 675-77).
In this first introductory installment, we'll discuss the Antichrist Agenda as outlined by the famous 19th century protestant convert, St. John Henry Newman, and how most Christians have already accepted many parts of it.

CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION
This is the first episode in our new series, "Setting the Record Straight: The Truth vs. Anti-Catholic Myths," in which we will refute various anti-Catholic myths, and share eye-opening accounts that paint an entirely different picture of the Catholic Church than we are often given.
In this first installment, we cover a largely unknown story of a Pope who not only repented of the sins of priests and Popes at the very beginning of the protestant "reformation," but also provided a stunningly accurate and prophetic warning about where Luther's errors would lead. When I first heard this story as a protestant, I was shocked. I never knew a Catholic Pope, amidst the heat of the "reformation," had shown such transparent humility. It showed me a side of the Catholic Church I never knew, and was certainly never told about. In addition, the Pope's warnings about where Luther's principles would lead rang uncomfortably true with my experience as a protestant.
This story will help refute two comment protestant assertions: that the Catholic Church was unrepentantly corrupt, and that Luther's principles were an attempt at "reform" rather than a revolution.

Today will be the one exception, since the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary happens to fall on a Monday this year. Originally, it was called the Feast of Our Lady of Victory, in commemoration of the victory of the naval forces of the Holy League against the Ottoman Empire at the Battle of Lepanto on October 7, 1571. St. Pope Pius V asked all the soldiers and leaders to pray the Rosary. On the day of the battle, which was hundreds of miles away, he received a revelation that the Catholic forces had won a great victory. He called for the Cardinals, priests, and officials to offer thanks to God that very day, despite the fact that he only received received final confirmation of the victory weeks later.

THIS WEEK, the first week of the Great Rosary Campaign, we are praying for the Pope and Priests of the Catholic Church. The SUGGESTED PENANCE this week is giving up a meal.

EPISODE SUMMARY
In this episode, our founder Joshua Charles inaugurates a new “mini-series” called “Papal Snapshots.” Each Papal Snapshot will examine one story, document, or quote from the ancient Church, and unpack what it reveals about the nature and extent of papal authority.
This first Papal Snapshot covers the remarkable acknowledgement of papal authority in the mid-300s by an ancient pagan historian, Ammianus Marcellinus. His account not only mentions the higher authority of the Pope without further comment, but discusses the acknowledgement of this authority by the Roman Emperor Constantius as well in the midst of the Arian crisis.

In this episode, our founder Joshua Charles recounts how, in order to solve “my unsolvable dilemma as a protestant” (see Episode #1), he went to Scripture to see how doctrinal disputes were resolved. In the process, he discovered a disturbing fact: no one in Scripture interpreted it on their own.
In other words, no one in Scripture was doing what he thought was normative Christian practice as a protestant. On the contrary, everyone was under apostolic authority: the authority of the Apostles themselves, or those they had appointed. Outside this line of authority, no one was empowered to interpret Scripture on their own.
Despite the fact that his conversion to the Catholic Faith was still years away, Joshua realized even then that what he was seeing in Scripture was simply not compatible with protestantism (or at the very least, most forms of it).

IN THIS FIRST EPISODE of the Eternal Christendom podcast—the first of our Five Masterpieces—our founder Joshua Charles recounts one of the biggest dilemmas he had as a protestant by reflecting on Christ’s words: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15).
He wanted to love Jesus, and thus obey His commandments. But many people around him frequently had different opinions on just what those commandments were. Often, their opinions were the exact opposites of one another.
To make matters worse, the prominent teachers (both historical and contemporary) and mentors he consulted were often virtuous, well-educated, and acting in good faith.
So his dilemma became: how do I know what Christ actually commanded? How do I know what is true beyond mere opinion?
We hope you are inspired and edified. Please consider joining us in this labor of love for Christ and His Church. In the midst of our darkening world, help us preserve and revive the Great Tradition of Christendom by building something beautiful and enduring for future generations.
