As we honor all of those who have served in the military this Veteran's Day I thought it was the perfect time to share a beautiful piece of my father's testimony. Kendal Stewart was born in a small mountain town in Kentucky and enjoyed a modest, yet joy filled and innocent childhood. He was the 8th of 9 children, and developed a strong work ethic early in his life. His mother and father taught him strong Christian values and how to appreciate the beauty in simple things. Upon graduation from high school he planned to enlist in the Army, but God directed his military service differently than he expected. He reflects upon the fervent prayers of his mother and is grateful to see God's hand in pivotal steps of the journey. In this episode Kendal shares:
- How God led him to serve in the US Air Force.
- How his education prior to enlisting set him up for his life's work.
- His role in the Air Force not being what he had hoped, but exactly what would suit God's plan.
- His multiple roles serving in Dover, Delaware (AC & Heat, Funeral duties, Disaster Control team), being offered a promotion to fly over Cuba on a special mission.
- His experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time and the impact it had on his life.
- That our best testimony is in how we live and in loving others authentically.
- What he would say to his 18 year old self if he had the chance.
John 15:13 NIV Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.
