This year, I competed in the famous Javelina Jundred 100-miler here in my home state of Arizona and ended up finishing in 10th place male with a time of 16:36, a massive PR for me at the 100-mile distance. And it ended up being one of the best experiences of my life!
Given the race's competitive field, brutally hot weather and no shade, and looped format with some sneaky climbs, this race is definitely a tough one to crack. So, I also wanted to share my race day strategy in hopes that it could help you tackle your next ultra, whether its Javelina or another similar ultra.
In this episode I break down the following:
-My goals for the race
-How I trained for Javelina Jundred
-My nutrition strategy
-My cooling strategy
-My pacing strategy
-A loop by loop breakdown of the race
-Answering questions from listeners on the race
-Biggest takeaways and lessons from the race
-My next race ahead
Thank you to everyone for your support along the way to this huge goal of mine! You are all amazing!
