#103 - Creation Repeated? - Exodus (pt. 24)

40 min • 22 oktober 2022
In today's lesson, we explore the structure of the final fifteen chapters of Exodus and look at how the concept of creation or re-creation is woven into the narrative. We mentioned in our previous lesson that the final chapters in Exodus are written in a Chiastic structure. A Chiasm – which gets its name from the Greek letter chi – is a method of helping the reader or listener focus their attention on the main idea that the author intends to convey. Tonight, we take a closer look at this chiastic structure and what the author of Exodus intends as the turning point. Within this structure, we find something interesting – creation itself is being revisited. Building the tabernacle is creating a space for the presence of God to dwell with the Israelites. In this sense, it mimics creation as a dwelling place for God's presence and his people. As we follow Exodus to its close, we see a motif of renewal, rebirth, or recreation. God and his people are back together – stepping forthrightly into the future. ---------------------------------------------- Support Fig Tree Ministries: https://donorbox.org/support-figtree-ministries Shopping on Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/83-0587741 www.figtreeteaching.com Blog Post: https://www.figtreeteaching.com/faith-lessons/creation-repeated#/ Class handout: https://www.figtreeteaching.com/uploads/1/1/9/7/119763168/fig_tree_exodus_study_pt_24_creation_revisitied_2.pdf Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7mh4v8e7FDwOoPhQd7bz7Y YouTube: https://youtu.be/5K0Es1Ex3Wg References: Rabbi Jonathan Sacks - Covenant and Conversation: Exodus https://smile.amazon.com/Covenant-Conversation-Exodus-Book-Redemption/dp/1592640214/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1IL0UUBB4M58L&keywords=covenant+and+conversation+exodus&qid=1665866556&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIwLjAwIiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=covenant+and+conversation+exodus%2Caps%2C99&sr=8-1
