Plant Based Himalaya with Babita Shrestha

117 min • 4 december 2022

Today, we are absolutely delighted to present to you an amazingly self made woman. Babita comes from one of those rare villages in modern life, so ubiquitous in the developing world with hard-baked Nepalese mud floors and kerosene burners for cooking. And, that is in fact, how Babita learned to cook by her grandfather’s side.

Listen in amazement as she tells the story of how she became an art and film student studying in Minnesota, and now a Barnes and Nobles best selling cook book author.

Babita Shrestha is a plant-based chef, photographer, graphic designer, and the author of 'Plant-based Himalaya.'

As the oldest child of the family, it was her responsibility to cook and it quickly grew into a true passion. Later, as an entrepreneur, she started Vegan Nepal in Lexington, Kentucky in 2017. In 2019, Babita put her full focus on her passion project, a beautifully photographed cookbook titled “Plant-Based Himalaya”.

Every recipe, photo, illustration, and even layout is of her own fabrication. Featuring 250 beautiful full-color photos, ‘Plant-Based Himalaya,’ is designed to inspire you to cook and eat exquisitely vegan home-style Nepali cuisine. Make it exceptional, and share it with your loved ones!
