Forge the Narrative – Warhammer 40k Podcast

FTN Episode 365 – This Episode is Not About Warhammer 40k! – sort of

57 min • 26 december 2020

FTN small squareWe divert briefly into nerd culture for the first half of the show.  We get to the fun thing where a group of friends discover one of the friends has a gap in their knowledge about something nerdy.  So we do what happens so frequently in our scene (for the better) and fill them in on it.  No gate keeping in this episode.  Later we have a vendor spotlight segment and then we talk about the fallacy of list building.

Hey all,

We kick the show off talking about the Las Vegas nOpen. This is an amazing project undertaken by some dedicated broadcasters and streamers.  This is going to be an absolute blast.  Please check out the website and mark your calendars.

One of the coolest things about our culture, specifically geek culture, is that we are so happy to talk about the things we’re passionate about.  Adam gives Paul and Red the perfect opportunity to pass along something we care about.

This was cool because the door was cracked open by a simple question and then Red and Paul got to learn about a cool thing they shared, exchanged information and more importantly, got to pass on something super cool to Adam.  Hopefully…

In the middle of the show Jay from Discount Games Inc. joins us to talk about how he’s handled the COVID crisis and to also share how much he appreciates the support from our listeners.  We definitely support shopping local but when you can spread it around or don’t have a local shop please frequent the most excellent online retailers. Jay is definitely one of those.

The last half of the show we talk about how quickly we are to criticize lists we see online.  I think we’re all prone to do it but we peek behind the curtain and talk about what we think is the best way to engage on some of this stuff.

We’re delighted to continue to represent Discount Games Inc as sponsor of our show. They are helping bring FTN to you. Please check them out and support the organizations that support us. Discount Games Inc. offers Games Workshop products at 15% off the suggested retail at their website here. You can send an email to the owner Jay. These guys run a podcast too! Check them out.

For anyone who has read this far down we’ve recorded the first video with myself and Oscar Lars where we review a listener submitted model. It should be produced and ready to go mid November. Please keep checking back and if you have a model you’d like us to review for how it would stack up vs the Battle Ready standard and the Artists Standard, hit us up in a private message with a pic. This is coming soon- I promise!

FTN mostly focuses on 40k, but again you will see in the first few episodes we take a severe deep dive into nerdom. These have been a blast to record and I hope they help pass the time for you. We are now on Pandora!! If you’re looking for another place to listen or you’ve shifted to that platform you can find us there.
