FTN Episode 465 – The Balance Data Slate Kicking This Year Off With A Bang

Wow – er body gets free wargear. Well, almost everyone.  The Balance Data Slate is set to take the meta by storm as soon as it is adopted by the crowd at large.  There are a few big tournaments coming up soon that may put the breaks on it due to it getting released near their rules/army cut off dates.

Due to some leaks there was quite a bit of hysteria around what might have been with the points adjustments but now the news is out and in people’s hands they can see it’s really not so bad.

Adam walks us through a lot of the changes from a purely competitive standpoint. IE, the things that might matter the most to you if you’re making a matched play list and heading to a tournament soon.

This will absolutely shake up the meta a little bit.  I say a little bit because I don’t think this really changes the factions people have been playing recently, if they weren’t just fair weather fans.  It will certainly change what some of them take in the faction but nothing that wholesale warps someone’s collection.

Flamers got a massive change but I seriously doubt it will change the amount people take or the frequency that you see them.  You’ll still need to prepare for them.  Marines… Marine player rejoice.  You have a LOT more options in your list now.  I’m getting players all around the world writing in saying how much fun they are having writing new Marine lists on the back of these changes.  But what no one knows yet – will it actually matter? Will we see Marines start to circulate in the top tables?
