Lenny Kaye is an American guitarist, composer, record producer, and writer, and is a founding member of Patti Smith and Her Band. In 2011 he was awarded the honor Chevalier de l"order des Arts et des Lettres by the Minister of Culture of France. His compilation of Nuggets: Original Artifacts From the First Psychedelic Era is credited with defining a genre. He has also written You Call It Madness: The Sensuous Song of the Croon, and is the co-author of Waylon Jennings' autobiography.
