Olivia Laing is the author of To the River, The Trip to Echo Spring and The Lonely City. In 2018 she was awarded the Windham-Campbell Prize for non-fiction. Her first novel, Crudo, won the James Tait Black Prize.

She’s written catalogue essays on many contemporary artists, including Andy Warhol, Agnes Martin, Derek Jarman and Wolfgang Tillmans. Her collected essays on art, Funny Weather: Art in an Emergency, were published in 2020. Her most recent book is Everybody: A Book About Freedom. She’s currently working on a book about gardens and paradise.
