Albert and Andy are two prairie boys on the edge of their tween years and are starting to test their boundaries. Which doesn't go over well at Plum Creek or the Garvey Estate. Jonathan Garvey shares a childhood trauma inspiring Charles to repeat something similar for the boys. Set to task with crossing the prairie wilderness en route to Sleepy Eye to retrieve a letter and return home safely, Albert and Andy hope to prove themselves as men and make choices like a man. But they are not alone, following behind Charles and Jonathan Garvey are hoping for failure. Tit for tat and back and forth for every good fortune Albert and Andy encounter Charles and Jonathan Garvey endure humiliation and defeat. It's an unintentional father and son camping trip that makes you wonder if Charles is happy he didn't bring his rifle this time. If Andy used Nellie Oleson's talking machine and listened to himself, would he reconsider his desire to quit school? How happy do you think Laura is to have her room back for a few days? How much food did those two dads eat over the entire trek and additional swim?
