Albert and Andy are two prairie boys on the edge of their tween years and are starting to test their boundaries.  Which doesn't go over well at Plum Creek or the Garvey Estate. Jonathan Garvey shares a childhood trauma inspiring Charles to repeat something similar for the boys. Set to task with crossing the prairie wilderness en route to Sleepy Eye to retrieve a letter and return home safely, Albert and Andy hope to prove themselves as men and make choices like a man.  But they are not alone, following behind Charles and Jonathan Garvey are hoping for failure.
