A new turnpike have been approved by the Governor and this is great news for Walnut Grove. It's also time for the Country's Centennial celebration. Unfortunately, letters start to arrive from County Clerk's office announcing everyone's property tax has doubled. Not only that but, they have a road assessment charge to pay as well. The kids in the area still want to celebrate the Country's upcoming birthday the adults not so much.  With a new flagpole, courtesy of the town's Russian family residents, the Citizens of Walnut Grove are reminded how easily it is to take certain things for granted. When will these new roads be built? Will we see a growth spurt in the Walnut Grove area?  How can it be 1876 when not so long ago Nellie was using her phonograph...which wasn't invented until 1877?
