The day starts just like any other in Walnut Grove until the residents of the town are delivered the news that a group of Native Americans are nearby. They are traveling through and their Chief, Long Elk, has been struck with an affliction that's rendered him mute and immobile. While Doc Baker attends to the ailing man, a majority of the town residents see this as an opportunity to be hostile towards the caravan and put an end to their travel. However, anticipating this the tribe moves on while at the same time Long Elk, his son Little Crow and family are taken to the Ingallas Prairie Air BnB to buy some time to help with Long Elk's recovery. It's not too long however before word gets out about who is hiding at the Ingallas' and it becomes a race to return Long Elk and family to his tribe while being pursued by the angry men of Walnut Grove. What valuable lesson does Laura learn from this experience? Will Doc Baker get to show off more of his medical expertise? Do people still use the word Carbuncle?
