The Prairie Whale. The Man Inside S5 Ep 4

John Bevin, his wife Bess, and daughter Amelia are new residents of Winoka. They had to leave their farm to find a different means of make a living.  John doesn't seem to mind living in the city except for the constant jokes he gets in regards to his size and shape. Upon witnessing the rude, offensive childish name calling done by the school kids, Amelia sets out on a path of complete denial that John is her father. Oh, John Bevins actually works at the school for the blind and Amelia attends the Livery School....that's how the Ingalls get involved in their lives.  It's not until an accident during a late evening roof repair job, which leads to John needing immediate life saving surgery, does Bess or Amelia realize how much love they have for John Bevins, the man inside and out.  If John is repairing the roof at night, how does anyone in the school sleep? What was the relationship between Amelia and John before they moved to Winoka? Will John get by just fine without his spleen?
